Shiny hair

I have shortish, very fine hair, so I had high hopes that I would be able to boost the volume and get that blown out look with this. While it did make my hair very smooth and shiny, which I loved, I didn’t find that I was able to get much volume.

Works better on shorter hair!

I couldn't get this to work on my hair. I do have hair past my shoulders and I didn't find that this hot brush had enough heat to style my hair. The bristles do not heat up like another hot tool that I used to have and I think this made a huge difference on the stylers ability to style my hair. It did help with volume - especially on my mums short hair it was better. I love that it is rechargeable and easy styling on the go. I just wish i could get the blow out type of look that I saw on the youtube video for the product

Stylish and nice but flat

The Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable Volumizing Hot Brush size and style overall is nice. But I think there is room for improvement. The tool itself does not last very long battery-wise: trying to style a whole head of hair is quite difficult with the short time span that’s given from the battery life. It was also unfortunate that you could not use the tool whilst it was charging, meaning that you had a maximum of 25 or so minutes to use it until you had to put it to charge again for more than two hours. I think the box could have also come with an additional accessory such as a silicon mat or something to help prop the tool up. Given that it is a hairbrush, it was easy and relatively safe to have it charging directly flat on my table but finding a place for it to cool down before putting it away for storage proved difficult. The hot brush is unsafe to place flat down on my table after use, so finding a way to stand it up where it can cool off safely and minimize the risk of burning adjacent items was hard. I think that the instructions saying to have it on a medium setting was a little misleading. Personally, I have medium to thick hair and from trial and error, I found that I would only see some change in my hair if I had it set to the highest heat. So, I would recommend testing on more hair types and seeing if a change is needed to be made in the instructions.

Tips: I would recommend to friends with frizzy and thinner hair. The heat setting will be just right to add more volume to their hair.

Lady Jayne Rechargeable Volumising Hot Brush

I was really excited when this arrived. It was beautifully packaged, looks great (matt black with rose gold accents), has a nice weight, and came with a lovely velvety storage pouch. Love that it's cordless! The USB charging port is a bonus, as it makes it less bulky. Unfortunately, despite watching the YouTube instruction video, I struggled to get good results. It didn't really defrizz or volumise my hair, even on the hottest setting, but it was lovely to use on cold mornings. I'm hoping I'll get better results with more practice. I don't think this will replace my straighteners, but it will be good for work trips etc.

Tips: Make sure you charge it fully

Not great for volumising

I will start off by saying I have quite long, straight hair which I blow dry with a standard hair dryer and a large ceramic radial brush for volume 2-3 times per week.

In my mind, this tool would be essentially the same thing except easier as I wouldn't have to battle with a brush in one hand and a hair dryer in the other..

How wrong I was.

As much as I tried, I was unable to create any volume near my roots. In one attempt I got my hair so tangled I couldn't get the brush out, which is not what you want when it's >160°C! Luckily it cooled down quite quickly and my hair doesn't appear to be damaged from that experience.

Some positives of this brush are that it uses a standard USB C which is handy. It has a pretty sleek design and seems to be of decent quality.

I imagine it would work better for volumising shorter hair.

Although I was unable to create volume with it, I can still use it just as a standard hot brush which is super handy on the go.

I wanted to love this but...

I wanted to love this, as the idea of it sounds right up my alley. Unfortunately, I did not!

Naturally I have super frizzy hair, but I recently had keratin straightening which has been great, but definitely left my hair looking limp and flat. I was hoping this brush would give me the root volume I wanted whilst leaving my hair still looking smooth and shiny. I tried it on my hair in its natural state, and no matter how many times I tried I could not get a smooth uplifted look like you can get from your straighteners. If I pulled too tight my hair got stuck in the bristles and became more tangled, and if I didn’t pull enough there was no change in my hair even on the hottest setting.

I do have lots of hair, although it is fine, so it took me a long time to do it in smaller sections. Leaving my hair loose, it looked a mess and not very smooth or silky. What I did like it for is giving some oomph to a high pony tail or using it for touch ups on day two or three after my hair was styled with another tool. I definitely did not get the look of a great blowout like I had hoped.

Ultimately, this wasn’t right for my hair type. My trusty GHD still does a better job at giving me lift (if I use the right technique) and as convenient as this is being rechargeable and hand bag friendly, it just didn’t cut the mustard for me. It’s a shame as I love the Lady Jane hair tooth likes hair ties/brushes etc.

An unfortunate no from me

Ohhh gosh, I wanted to love this so bad and I don't think I have ever clicked on an invite link so fast as I did with this one! Unfortunately, this product is not for me. I have medium length hair and a fair amount of it - so my first issue was that there would be no possible way I could finish all of my hair without this running out of charge. The fact that it is cordless is such a bonus, but not so much when it doesn't have much juice in the tank and you can't finish your hair!

My second issue was that I got this majorly stuck in my hair! I have quite fine hair which can tangle easily, but this was next level! I had to end up getting my partner to untangle this for me, all whilst panicking I was going to have to cut it out (if this also happens to you, make sure you turn the temperature off!). I did give it another couple of times after this, but I still just could not get it to look like it did on the videos of the model. I couldn't get any lift and I certainly couldn't roll it through my hair like she did without getting it tangled.

I do love the design, and love that it is cordless - overall a great concept, but just not for me. Perhaps it would work better for someone who is better at hair than me haha, but I will stick to my straightener and curlers for now.

Great review. I was keen to see how theses work, but I also have very fine hair, so it sounds like it isn't the product for me.

Wouldn't recommend

I was really excited to try this. Cordless and 80% increase in volume? Yes please! The Cordless feature is great and it does charge very quickly, but unfortunately that's where the positives ended for me. I definitely didn't get an 80% increase in volume, more like 10 to 15%. It was also quite time consuming, so not worth the time and effort for such a small increase in volume. The worst part was that the brush kept getting stuck in my hair, and at one point it got so stuck I practically had to rip parys of my hair out to get it unstuck. I've got very long, fine hair, so Maybe if you've got short hair or are used to styling with a roller brush you'll have more luck. But unfortunately this product isn't for me

Meh

I was really excited about this product. I have perfectly straight natural hair and was looking forward to an easy way of giving it some life but I was left disappointed.

The packaging was nice enough, and the velvet pouch is a nice touch for keeping the brush and cable together when traveling. It also comes with simple instructions on how to use the brush and charge it.

I like that there is a light that changes from red to white to show that it is fully charged. Once charged, I read the rest of the instructions on what setting to use for my type of hair (medium heat 180 degrees for fine hair) and left the brush to heat up. I was sad to discover there is no way of knowing when the brush is up temperature.

I re-read the rest of the instructions on how to apply the brush. Put simply, it's pretty much the same way you curl your hair with other devices. Section it and do small bits at a time. Roll hair around the device, hold for a 8-10 seconds then release. The related youtube video shows the model twisting the heated hair around her fingers at the end like you would with other tools.

However, I was unable to replicate such good results. The best I got was a tiny crimp on my front strands, the rest stayed flat, and then the smell of burning hair - never a good sign! Maybe I would have got better results if I pretreated with heat protection etc but I don't own any and wasn't about to go buy some before I knew if this product worked. It's also apparent from the YouTube video that the model has naturally wavy hair already, and this is just making it sleeker. Maybe you get much better results if you already have hair with volume? But this seems counterintuitive for a volumising brush.

I'm left wondering what the pro of using the volumising brush is supposed to be? It seems like you might as well just use curling tongs or a straightener, unless you were able to achieve good results on a lower temperature? I been left confused and a bit sad that it didn't work for me.
