The Range

Well, I am actually quite impressed! When I first read about the range I thought, "How can it work on both dry ends and oily roots?" It doesn't make sense from the other ranges that we have seen.

There weren't too many downsides for me, so I'll quickly note them. The scent was a bit strong for me, the mask could do with some more instructions and the dry shampoo wasn't for me at all.

The plusses were many though. Using less shampoo to get a better effect seems like a win of course, and using less conditioner because you are focusing more on the ends is good. I like the mask, it extends the oil free time for a bit longer, although it's a bit of a pain to do so I'm not sure if I will continue with that part very often.

My hair has felt light, soft and smooth - I don't often get this as usually, a shampoo tries to combat one issue at a time. It really does extend out the time between hair washes, that's something that is a little hard to get used to. It's ingrained in me that I need to wash my hair frequently to get rid of the oil. 2 of my friends have complimented me on my hair looking healthy, if other people are noticing that it's taming the oil but hydrating the ends - it's a total win for me!

Tips: Simply - if you have oily roots, give this a go!

Light and refreshing!

My hair type: I have oily roots and dry ends so I am definitely the right demographic for this hair care range. I used to wash my hair every day, but in recent years I have trained my hair so it only needs to be cleaned 2-3 times a week.

I got stuck into these products as soon as they arrived. It had been a few days since I had washed my hair, so it was the perfect time to trial this range. I love the light teal colour and the overall look of this packaging. The smell is probably my favourite thing about this range. It's very refreshing which nicely counteracts the oily smell that hair can have when it hasn't been washed.

After using the mask, shampoo, and conditioner I blow dried my hair. My hair felt lighter and softer than it usually does. I definitely felt refreshed and my hair was more voluminous.

I didn't apply any other hair products while trialing this range so my review would be accurate. Usually I use an oil at the ends of my hair to keep them hydrated. Even without an oil, my hair still felt hydrated and it looked shiny. In the future I'll still continue to use an oil, but it's nice to know I don't necessarily need one with this range.

I managed to go without washing my hair for a total of five days, which is incredible! Usually the day after washing my hair is when the oiliness starts to return, but not with this range. I first decided to use the dry shampoo on Day 3. It wasn't that my hair looked oily, I was just super keen to try the dry shampoo. On Day 4 I used the dry shampoo again and my hair still looked like it had been freshly washed. By Day 5 my hair was feeling heavy with product, so I finally decided to wash it again.

Overall this range really does work at keeping the roots light and leaving the ends hydrated. I would definitely buy the mask, shampoo, and conditioner again. The dry shampoo wasn't the best I've tried so I probably won't repurchase it. Definitely try this range if you're struggling with oily roots and dry ends! I doubt you'll regret it!

Goodbye Oily Roots

Overall this range works as stated. My hair is coloured and I often struggle with oily roots and dry ends. After using the mask, shampoo & conditioner and allowing my hair to dry, I could see and feel the difference. It was shiny, soft and smelling fabulous! Brushing my hair wet or dry was not a problem. I did not need to use any other products as I sometimes would have to get the brush through my long locks. For me, the results lasted 24-36 hours and not the 72 hours they claim. It would be a better statement to say they work 'up to' not 'for' 72 hours. The packaging colour choice for this range is an aqua green, not the natural colour you would expect for something with '3 types of precious clay' in my opinion. All products were easy to handle, open and close. The shampoo and conditioner have good flat lids to ensure the do not fall over. They are easy to open and close with one hand. The fragrance was pleasant in all except the Detox Clay Mask where the clay smell had almost overpowered it completely. It gave it a more earthy smell which is what I would expect from a clay product. Overall, I would say this range does what it says but for how long will depend on each individual. I would recommend this to anyone who suffers from oily roots and dry ends.

Tips: Sit the clay mask in a warm place before use to help get an even application. The instructions for the Mask are under the sticker on the lid. Don't wear black clothing when using the dry shampoo as it leaves white marks if you over spray.

L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Range

Overall not 100% for me, BUT perfect for Miss 14 with wild greasy hormones, it is so perfect for her and I will buy it for her :) If my Hair wasn't coloured red with red lust semi pigment colour lengths and ends it would be perfect for me too.

I will continue to repurchase the Dry Shampoo as it's the best I've ever used!! Thank you :) And once again I'm inlove with the fragrance

All About The Clay

I had the opportunity to test out the L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Range, which includes the Clay mask, shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo. Each individual product of this range stated distinctive outcomes by use.

First product used was the Clay Mask. I believe that this mask did as it said it would. It did an incredible job at thoroughly lifting the oil and dirt from my scalp (as i purposely did not wash my hair for almost a week so i can put this to the test). It smelt calming and fresh no doubt the 'Clay' was announced as soon as you open these products. The second was the shampoo in which i did not really enjoy as it left my hair feeling extremely stripped. My hair felt hard straight after rinsing it out and my head did not stay feeling fresh and clean for 72 hours. The conditioner was the savior of this range as it was smooth and allowed me to comb my hair with ease. It delivered what it said it would. On the second day after using the product, my scalp did not feel as the shampoo said it would, so i put the dry shampoo to the test. It felt soothing and i got that hit of freshness straight away once applied directly to the roots. I was disappointed that the fresh and clean feeling did not last the whole day. It did not stop me from re-applying the product throughout the day.

Tips: Do not hold back with the clay mask, be generous when applying to the roots. It works.

Did not live up to expectations and claims

I wanted to love this... I really did. I have oily roots and am keen to try any product proclaiming to Sort This Out. The hair mask was off to a promising start (once I realised it wasn't a leave in treatment) and my hair felt really clean. Alas, that's where my excitement stopped, alongside slight resentment at an extra five minutes time in the shower (I'm ever mindful of the price of power!). The shampoo and conditioner was cleaned my hair and left it a bit thicker than usual (read, slighty boofy). The dry shampoo was abysmal, it did little for my oily roots, not sure if I got a dud? Overall, really unimpressed with this range and disappointed as I really wanted to love it!

Tips: The shampoo and conditioner is more or less fit for purpose, I'd use this in isolation - don't bother with the mask and totally flag the dry shampoo...

Amazing range

I feel like this range is perfect for my hair. I'm so glad I got to trial this product for BR. I haven't found any other hair range that cleans the scalp thoroughly without leaving me with dry brittle hair. The range has extended the time between washes by an extra day (so every third or fourth day) and even when I do wash my hair I feel that it's more to rinse and wash out any residue or dust rather than because my scalp is feeling very icky. I have tried the entire range in one go and also separately substituting with my hair products. I find that the clay masque makes the most difference but the system does work better when all the products are used together

Tips: If there is one product you would buy, definitely try the clay masque. Massage the masque slowly into your scalp and take your time!

L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Range

Thank you BR for the opportunity to test and review the L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Range. As someone with both oily roots and dry ends, this range appealed to me. I am always on the look out for new products that will either absorb the oil in my roots or give moisture to the ends of my damaged hair so I was excited to try this range. Out of the 4 products from the range I really like 3 of the products and would happily use them again. The only product I found disappointing was the dry shampoo as I felt it didn't absorb the oils from my roots and the can was smaller than I expected. Both the shampoo and conditioner worked well and I found that I could go an extra day without washing my hair. I really enjoyed using the clay mask as it was something I had never tried before. I found the concept interesting and loved having my hair feel super refreshed after washing it. Only downside to the clay mask was you needed to use a lot of product so you would only get about 4-5 uses from the container. Overall I am impressed with the range and give it a 4/5.

The Good and the Bad

Thank you Beauty Review for my place in the trial for the L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Range. I was very excited to be picked for this and loved experimenting with the products. The thing that stands out for me are the shampoo and the conditioner. The smell is magical and lingers long after you have been washing your hair. The hair feels light and has more volume and you can extend out the period before you need another wash (from 2 to 3 days for me). You only need a small amount of product , which means price is reasonable because it will go a long way. I was a bit disappointed about the delivery of the mask and dry shampoo and would only use them occasionally.

Mixed feelings

When I started using these products I noticed a huge change in the quality of my hair right away. I have thick, heavy, long & difficult to manage hair, and my hair suddenly felt lighter, smoother and softer with combined use of these products.

This range really appealed to me, 3 types of clay -intruiging, and the color choice of packaging for these products Is fresh & pretty. These products all have a similar sweet pretty floral smell, the scent is great.

Although the condition of my hair was significantly improved when I started using this range, the oiless of my roots wasn't. I noticed no difference in regards to oily roots, which is supposed to be an aspect of this range..

The conditioner was my favourite of the bunch as it worked wonders on my lengths. The shampoo is nice but didn't make any difference in regards to oily roots. The mask and dry shampoo I found to be rather ineffective.

I might repurchase the shampoo & conditioner, but would leave the mask and dry shampoo.
