L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense Shampoo Review

This shampoo leaves your hair looking really shiny and it feels amazing when you run your fingers through it. But for some reason it becomes very difficult to style after it's dry. It is so smooth and light that if you don't make sure it's sitting right when it dries then it could end up sitting in a really strange way and staying that way, eg side fringe covering your whole face because it's so smooth it just hangs in front of your face. It's also very difficult to put it in an updo until at least the day after, because the hair just slides out. Not that this is a bad problem to have, it's just because it makes the hair so shiny and smooth. But I once washed it and slept on it while damp, and it dried in the strangest angles, not to mention the time it all frizzed up because I wore a wig over it while it was damp (not a good idea in general though).

The scent is really nice on your hair, but when you first squeeze it out of the bottle it has a slight chemical scent to it. It also doesn't help that the shampoo is a bright yellow, which makes you think of detergent.

But other than those things, it makes my hair feel shiny and light, and when I let it dry naturally it sits beautifully, so I would definitely buy it again.

Hey girlies! This is the Elvive shampoo I got from BR for the review. So I thought I would do a bit “technical and to the point” with this review rather than my typical yarda yarda. I used the BR review tips article as a foundation to write this. God bless the lady who wrote it as it helps heaps when it comes to write a proper and informative review.

So here goes.

Consistency - This is a transparent shampoo is not so thick or so watery. In my opinion it’s just right.

Application and coverage - It is very easy to apply. I have long, coarse and thick hair, so usually I use a palmful of product. This shampoo lathers up well and cleans the hair very thoroughly. I never had to shampoo twice with this.

Fragrance - Fragrance of this shampoo is my favourite thing about it. It’s very pleasant and lasting, even after couple of days.

Usage and longevity - I tested this using this regularly for a week. Then, once every other day for another week. I also left my hair unwashed for three days and then used this. I still have about 1/3 of shampoo left. I tend to use a bit more product than a regular human being and it’ll still lasts me for about 1-2 months. :)

Price - Pretty cheap compared to other products. I saw this for $3 something on Pack N Save the other day.

Packaging - This has a very nice packaging as you can see in the picture. I love the fact that the body of the bottle is see through as I can see correctly how much I have used or left of the product. It also has a tight cap that closed up properly. I even dropped it on the tile floor, and it didn't break off. :D

Results - I tried to use this shampoo as much as possible within the time period I had and in different ways. What I found out is that, washing hair with this on a regular basis is a bit too harsh for my hair. As I said earlier, this shampoo is quite strong and has a tendency to dry out my hair on its own. I definitely need to use the conditioner with this. I sometimes had to condition my hair twice to get it to be silkier. I also found out that I can go up to 3 days without washing my hair after I wash it with this shampoo and my roots don’t get oily. And lastly, even with very dirty and oily hair, only a single wash with this shampoo is enough to thoroughly clean my hair. For me personally, this shampoo works best if I use it every other day with the conditioner. And it tends to make my hair more thick as I noticed. It also lessen the frizzy effect my hair has to a point. It’s still winter so my hair tends to go a little crazy with the added moisture in the air. But I think in the summer time this shampoo will flawlessly take care of the frizz.

I have been using this product for a couple of weeks and it has basically done what its supposed to, its smoothed my hair and leaves my hair feeling lovely and clean with a beautiful smell. Over all i am quite pleased with how my hair turned out after blow waving and straightening my hair, it wouldn't be my first choice of a shampoo but it's definitely far from the worst.

Great feel to my hair after use. lasted a couple of days as advertised. Great to have clear bottle verses cream bottle to easily tell the diference between shampoo and conditioner. Trialed it on my grandaughters hair which is long and curly but difficult to manage she now likes to come to nana's for her special shampoo as her hair is softer and easier to comb after using it.

Really loved this Shampoo from the first time I used it. My hair was smooth, silky and looked amazing.

The packaging is really nice and inviting, I preferred the Shampoo packaging to the Conditioner packaging though.

You don't need to much product and it lathers up really nicely. The consistency was really lovely too and didn't smell potent like some shampoo's do.

I wash my hair every second day and I did notice by the second day it's usually a little greasy but with this shampoo it wasn't so I'm really happy with that.

I did however, notice that when I blow dried my hair I got MUCH better results. When I air dried my hair my hair was quite greasy and oily even though I had obviously just washed it. This being the reason for 4 stars. I would only use it if I had time to blow dry my hair properly.

Overall, I was really happy with the results it gave (when I blow dried my hair) and am most definitely going to use and buy again :)

I don't normally but shampoos for dry frizzy hair, i normally go for volumizing products. I did like it though and it does smell great. My hair feels and looks so soft and shiny, the only problem is my hair has no volume and to me my hair MUST have volume. My hair is not dull and lifeless after using the shampoo, just flat. I will, when i have finished using this shampoo, go for the Loreal Fibrology shampoo, but i will stick to smooth intense conditioner. I do love the fact that these are affordble.

I really liked this product. I have fine fly away hair and this did make it more manageable. easy to apply with a nice foamy consistancy when rubbed in. Smelt pleasant and reminded me more of a salon brand than supermarket brand. Packaging was pretty plain and prob would not have caught my eye on the shelf. Pricewise its a bit more expensive thsn what I would normally pay so would not buy everytime I need shampoo and conditioner maybe more as a treat purchase every so often. Results were good and my hair was less fly away while using. If flyaways are a big problem for you then I would recommend this product.

I really enjoyed this shampoo as it made my hair silky and between shampooing and conditioning my hair wasnt stringy and it didnt feel knotty. When using the conditioner and the shampoo together my hair was extremely soft and i found that my hair wouldnt kink after taking it out of pony tail. the only thing was that my hair was still very frizzy.

As far as supermarket shampoos go, I actually found this one half decent! Teamed with the conditioner, my hair was tamed an silky smooth...Hard to believe that it's the result of a supermarket brand. I'll be switching from my salon one for these! And as a bonus they smell really good. The shampoo wasn't drying and built up a good lather, my husband also used it and managed to clean his concrete laden hair (he's a builder) so he's also impressed.

I loved the rich texture of this product using it every second day over a period of 2weeks I found it to gently cleanse my hair, and re nourish it. Unlike most shampoos ive previously used. I noticed a slight difference to the frizziness off my hair.
