Great Shampoo

As a blonde I am always looking to find a product that keeps my highlights fresh looking. I really like this shampoo and it brightened up my blonde. The shampoo doesn't work up a lather but still left my hair feeling clean.

Essano does it again!

This trial couldn't have come at a better time for me as i'd just had my hair freshly coloured and it was probably a bit *too* blonde for me going into winter.

Loved the packaging in particular that the bottles have a BIG 'shampoo' and a 'BIG conditioner label on the front so you can tell them apart and the shampoo also has a pump on it which is super helpful as it is a bug bear of mine when you can't tell bottles apart in the shower. (You know...where you don't wear your glasses!)

I liked the fact that even though the shampoo is sulphate free it still lathers reasonable well.

The fragrance. Well I'm feeling rather neutral about it - I neither went 'wow it's amazing' or 'nah I don't like it'

Big question - did it do what it said it would? And the big answer? YES! It toned down my brassy highlights and left my locks looking great.

Overall loved loved loved it, and would absolutely buy it again. It's great to know that you can finally get a supermarket purple shampoo equivalent to a salon one without shelling out the big bucks.

Big tick Essano!

Lovely

I am enjoying this shampoo, it is a deep violet tone with a good consistency, I felt it gave a very nice tone to my hair (My hair generally throws a good amount of brassy tones) and doesn’t leave it dry and straw like. I love that it’s a generous sized bottle and has a pump which makes using it super easy. I did feel that it didn’t give a huge lather but still did a great job of cleaning my hair without leaving it frizzy or heavy. The shampoo has a pleasant very soft fragrance also which is really nice. Overall really love this shampoo and will quite happily continue using it for my hair.

Great for the price

This product works well, it’s not often you can find blonde tone correcting shampoo and conditioner, let alone from the supermarket. First I noticed that this product was very blue look to the product, different to the normal shampoo which is purple. This seems to make hair not as grey, which I enjoy as often my hair gets a dark tinge when I use it often. The product smells pleasant and you need only a small amount at a time. I would recommend this to be used weekly to keep brassy tones at bay.

Tips: But both the shampoo and conditioner, I feel that it the shampoo works well but the conditioner adds that extra moisture that you need.

Packing a purple punch

Let me start by telling you a bit about my hair. I've been dyeing it various shades of dark brown since I started going grey at 16.....thats decades of dye; every 2 weeks. I finally decided to embrace the grey and started the process, by going blonde. 12+ hours later, I was blonde but also left with very damaged and porous hair. Of course this hair would like nothing better than be various shades of brassy, warm yellow. I was excited to try the Essano tone correcting range as my first maintenance purple shampoo.

I love that the range is plant based , cruelty free with recycled packaging. The products smells delicious. The shampoo itself is very pigmented and upon the rinsing out the 1st shampoo, the pigment had stained the more damaged parts of my hair a light lilac tint but this mostly came out when I 2nd shampooed with my usual product. It did tone down the brassy and made my natural grey/silver a fantastic platinum. There were a couple of patches that didn't tone correct as well but that may have been due to my salon toner washing out more than anything.

With further usage I found using half Essano and half my normal shampoo worked the best. Coupled with the conditioner they are very good products for correcting warm tones. I suspect this bottle will also last me a long time.

I will continue to use this product and for a first timer I am very impressed

Tips: dilute the potency of the purple pigment with your normal shampoo if you have extremely damaged and porous hair to avoid a residual lilac tone.

Not bad

The smell of the shampoo was OK, but the conditioner smelt like burnt plastic! However the smell didn't remain in the hair once washed out. It claims to be a low foam shampoo, but I found it very foamy. The conditioner was really easy to comb through, which is what I tend to find most difficult if conditioner isn't up to scratch. I love the environmentally friendly aspect of the bottles and contents, and the pump bottle makes it very easy to dispense. The product isn't bad, but my hair was a bit frizzy once dry. Colour wise, it did appear to brighten the blonde a bit but not a lot of brassiness removed - in fact I think I look more ginger than ever! I would possibly use again though, especially for the RRP!

This stuff is amazing

Blonde shampoos I have used in the past have been quite drying on my hair, however this stuff is definitely not. My hair is silky smooth with no hint of dryness at all.

It comes in a pump bottle, be aware a little goes a long way, you only need a couple of pumps, not a entire palmful. You'll notice it has a strong floral scent when your applying, this scent fades to a light fragrance once you have rinsed it out.

After shampooing your hands will be purple, however the conditioner makes this go away so dont panic.

It does what it says it will, it removes all brassy tones from your hair and I love that it is gentle enough to use every wash

Tips: Shampoo twice, condition once. This means you'll only need to wash twice a week

Essano Blond purple shampoo

This shampoo comes in a pump, i'm not sure why as the matching conditioner doesn't come with the same pump. I found i had to use at least four or five pumps to get enough product to use. It is a deep purple colour and smells quite odd, i see from the packaging that it is based around violet leaf extract. The smell was a bit offputting for me, but i did get used to it. It doesn't lather up either which i found a bit unusual, but it does say it is low foam. It did cleanse and tone nicely, and left my hair quite shiny and soft. However i have really oily roots and i found i needed to wash it daily when i used this . I thought it might be the matching conditioner, but i tried the shampoo without the conditioner and i still had the oily scalp problem. It also really stings your eyes if it happens to drip in your eyes, but i noticed it didn't leave them red and sore afterward , which was good. So altogether it wasn't the best for me as the product was a bit too moisturising , and left my hair a bit oily . Most blonde shampoos are quite drying, but this went to the other extreme and was too heavy for my fine blonde hair.

Tips: Don't get it in your eyes, it stings!

Essano Blonde Tone-Correcting Purple Shampoo

Its not often I give a product full marks as normally the trial period is too short. However in this case it worked from the first shampoo and it was love at first sight. I experimented with each wash and found it worked best for me if I used about three pumps worth on the first shampoo as it didn't lather up as much but on the second shampoo one pump is sufficient .I then left it on for two to three minutes. There wasn't any fragrance to it and most definitely no chemical smell being an entirely natural product. The bonus of this shampoo is no purple hands, shower walls, towels and so on. For this alone the shampoo is worth its weight in gold. The end result was beautifully gleaming silver tresses with no trace of yellow .The container is one you would be happy to display on your cabinet and the pump on it works smoothly . I will definitely be switching to this shampoo permanently. The price will astonish you. The supermarkets sell it for around $15.

Tips: Experiment with the amount you need to lather up. My hair is quite long so three pumps was required but shorter hair would need less. Because this shampoo is a natural product and kind to your hair I would advise anyone with lots of yellow to leave it on longer than the recommended three minutes.

Nice, but doesnt tone as well as I'd hoped

Essanno always deliver great products. This duo is one if them. Left my hair soft and shiny and smelling sweetly. The shampoo doesnt lather much, but that is what you would expect from a natural based product. Left my hair feeling very clean tho. Only thing is it doesnt tone as much as a regular salon purple shampoo. I was hoping it would, but it is a natural based toner, so we cant expect miracles! I would use it again tho. I'm trying to let my hair recover from all the bleaching, and this seemed to help.

Tips: Maybe leave the shampoo in for a bit longer than expected. Let it really get in there and work its magic.
