Lush Sea Spray Review

Our sea salt, sea water and seaweed spritz holds hair in place, adds shine and gives body for a beach-beautiful look. A gorgeous orange flower, grapefruit, neroli and rosewood blend perfumes the spray. It smells so divine, we've been spritzing it in our hair just to smell the fragrance! Use anytime you want to refresh, re-style or add some volume, texture and shine.

Works great!

I have long, thin, straight hair and this added volume really well. It also smells great and didn’t dry out my scalp.

Tips: Spray into your hair, focusing at the roots, and then mess your hair around or brush upside down to create great natural volume.

Volumizing Sea Spray

Tried this Sea Spray out today and I was really surprised at how much I liked it!

I naturally have straight, flat hair and found this added a lot of extra volume at the roots. Spray into wet hair around the roots and then blow dried my hair using a round brush and hair drier and the volume lasted for hours! Anyone with flat hair like mine knows that's a win.

The mist comes out really evenly and us still quite fine so you don't feel like you're drowning your scalp in product.

Beautiful Beach Waves

Over the years I have tried quite a few Sea salt sprays and struggle to find one that makes my naturally fine straight hair get any volume

But Lush’s Sea Spray does the best job out of sprays I have tried to give my hair that effortless beachy hair look! It smells so delicious also!

Tips: After curling my hair I use this product to give my curls a more natural look

Also spray in my hair before putting into a bun to give the bun more volume

Beach days

I have wavy hair naturally and when it's humid it goes frizzy as, I thought I wouldn't need a Sea Spray but actually it turned out to be such a nice little product.

For starters it is not as sticky, as some other texturizing sprays. You should be applying it in a certain way so that it doesn't stick your hair together in one greasy mess.

I wouldn't say that this product works as your classic hairspray, but it does hold a bit of frizz to a certain extent and it smells nice. Perfect for carefree, beach days when you don't want to look like a ball of clumpy hair and just want to add a bit of oomph to your look.

Smelled Nice

I bought this product hoping that this would give me the beachy look that I want. I do have wavy dry hair that's hard to manage on the 2nd day.

It felt like I was just spraying another hair product on my hair, it did smell really nice, but that was it. It felt a bit sticky on my hair too, but I think that was meant to be the adding texture part of it. It didn't give me any volume and shine too.

I just like to spray this on when I need to add some fragrance to my hair.

Tips: To achieve the beachy look, I would spray some hairspray with it and put it in a bun.

love this smell

this smells so good and so natural, defintiely reminds me of the sea. in terms of hair texture it does a reasonable job of giving volume, but to be honest i usually go for a sleek style - as my hair is quite naturally wavy and messy so this does not get a lot of use from me.

Not for my hair type

I'd heard good things about sea salt spray being good at holding loose curls, and was looking for something other than my curl cream to hold my raggedy mane

Coming in a cute all black, pump top spray bottle, with clear top that once opened once, popped off the vanity and rolled under the sink never to be seen again. The spray delivers a healthy dose of product onto your hair in a fine mist.

Mixed with some yummy smelling oils that lift the normal sea salt tinged spray to be a lovely start to the day, but there is where unfortunately my love for the product stopped. It did nothing promising for my hair, in fact left it feeling sticky and some what heavier than normal, which I thought was impossible. Have tried a sample bottle from another brand and never had this problem so can probably pin point one or all the added essential oils as being the reason why my hair didn't like it.

At the beginning it held the curls in loose ringlets but as the day wore on it just downgraded to a mass of sticky looking mat that I had to run my fingers through to de-tangle and make it feel slightly comfortable until I was able to get home and rinse it out. Wouldn't use it again myself, nothing wrong with the product but it just disagreed with my hair type.

"Sea" Spray!?

This was the first sea spray I'd ever tried, and as it had Lush branded on it I knew it had to be good. I bought mine off a friend but it was an almost full bottle so I got a lot of uses out of it.

When I first tried it I sprayed it first, and mine came out more like a gel than a spray. Undeterred I continued on. Sea spray, I had heard, was amazing and I was determined to make it work. I sprayed it into my hair and it honestly felt more like a gel than a spray. I used it after I had towel dried my hair and I waited for it to dry.

The smell is hard to describe. Fiance is of the opinion that it smells like old lady. I however think it smells fresh, and a bit citrusy, and maybe a bit like the ocean. The scent lasted a surprisingly long time, it wafted into my face nearly every time I moved my head. It's a bit overpowering and headache inducing though. I have since learned that the spray shares its scent with the Frozen bath bomb and the Happy Happy Joy Joy conditioner!

This contains a light gel to keep the style in place, but luckily the gel didn't make my hair crunchy like gel does. It was left actually quite soft and very much like I had spent the day at the beach. I like to think I got the hang of this product and made it work, and I really did like it. I don't think I would repurchase though, as the gel spray it was doing did nothing for me.

Just the texture I need

I hadn't really thought I would need a sea salt spray for my hair but cmon it's Lush I need all the Lush! I never really looked in to what a sea spray did until Shaza gave me this one. I read up on it and read reviews on the Lush website to see if it was something I would get a benefit out of. I determined that without trial I would never know. Let me tell you how glad I am that I did!

First off let's get the mundane out of the way it's a black plastic (recycled yusss) bottle with a spritzer for application. To me I find the Lush bottles and tubs refreshing and chic. They are simple but do their job, I love them! It smells lightly salty but more refreshing than anything else. It is not highly scented which is perfect for me, I don't like overpowering hair care products that you can smell up the street blergh!

I didn't think I would need texture having previously sported very long ringlets but I sprayed it on the roots to give it oomph to hold my mohawk up without heavy products.

I spritz it on when styling my hair and scrunch it in to the roots and give it a bit of a scruff up. I straighten the ends to give it the structure it needs to stay in place but with the texture plus.

Unfortunately it falls short where stay power is concerned. I find that half way through the day my hair flops down and I am left with a half done hawk. I found that I have to 'floof' it more with the comb to make it stay for longer. Regardless of this it works exactly like I would want it to. It leaves my hair soft but with the oomph I expected from it. I actually find the Lush sea spray better than other supermarket brands. It may be more expensive but if it works, gimme, gimme, gimmie!

Tips: Use it to add structure and oomph to short styles
