Have used loreal preference 8.1 for years but can't get now so tried creme excellence. 1st try was ok but weak colour due to step 1 being the serum. This time had a ph balance shampoo as step 2 and advice to use on dry hair. Result is a muddy colour, greasy look, itchy scalp and dull staticky hair where mine is normally shiny. Not happy customer at all.

Tips: Don't buy?
I’ve taken to colouring my own hair to save money and so I can spend more on other beauty products. It really is hit and miss when you use blonde hair colour. My natural hair is a mix of light brown and grey. I have tried this one and the one geared towards grey hair and neither have left me with what I would call “blonde “ hair. I literally coloured my hair last night and followed the instructions to the letter. I also used a toner afterwards to remove any brassy tones. My hair looks reddish and not in a nice strawberry blonde way which sometimes happens when I colour at home. My greyish temples are exactly as they were before, grey. I never expect salon results from a home dye kit but my hair just looks flat and dirty. This is the second time I’ve tried this dye hoping that I just wasn’t doing it properly the first time but no I’m not a fan and definitely won’t be repurchasing. It does however leave my hair feeling very soft and manageable. It may work well for some people but unfortunately I’m not one of them.
This product does not colour grey or white hair. White and grey hair remains after product has been used. $36.00 NZ a piece. Do not recommend.
Tips: Try another product
This hair dye did not really agree with my hair. I feel that it never really changed my hair color like other hair dyes do. I like how good the gloves are (they don't rip or get in the way) and I like how it came with a protection cream to apply prior to the application. However the places that I applied the protection cream didn't color that well. It's a good idea though in theory. This hair dye did not damage my hair at all which was a bonus and the conditioner is really hydrating and nourishing. I do believe that this will do a good job for someone who is wanting to cover up their grey hairs or even just to do a touch up of the roots . Overall I really wanted to like this but It didn't really do much for my hair.
I used this once when it was on special, its alright, but I prefer my other brands to dye my hair, it is true to colour though
I think I used this for a number of years back when I still dyed my own hair. I would have to say of all the at home hair colours I have used, this is the best.
When I was going from being a bottle blonde back to my natural colour which is quite dark, this just covered it really well and didn't fade as much as other colours including some of the salon colours.
Tips: I would only colour regrowth for subsequent applications because you get a lot of colour build up if you are constantly colouring the same area. Colour build up makes it difficult if you want to change down the track.
Have had many bad experiences with colouring my hair at home, so I'm always a bit hesitant when it comes to purchasing these dyes. My reason for buying this particular brand was i had never had any luck with other affordable brands so i thought spending a bit extra might give a better result.
Right off the bat i was impressed with the minimal smell and loved the protecting serum that you massage into your ends before applying the colour. The colour itself was easy and mess free to apply, i really liked the comb applicator, it ensured a tidy and even application.
I left it for the recommended time and followed the instructions re rinsing and conditioning. It was easy to rinse out and after using the conditioner my hair was soft, shiny and smelt pleasant.
I didn't get the colour i set out to achieve but I'm not blaming the product, i would say it was a combination of my hair being too dark to start with or maybe i could have left it on a little longer.
I was impressed with this product from start to finish just for the quality and ease of use and the condition it left my hair in afterwards. Would i use it again? - Absolutely!
Tips: Definitely use the serum that comes with it, i believe that's what makes this product stand out to others on the market.
This product is your standard dye-your-own-hair-kit. has a lovely scented condition to give it that shiny soft feel after colouring. Covers greys well, but does fade after a while making the grey stand out. Colours are pretty accurate on chart, but can appear dull without a shine product to follow.
I have used this in black for many years - it is one of the few jet blacks on the market that has slightly warm undertones and doesn't give my hair that slightly blue sheen. Lovely conditioning treatment comes with the colour too. Leaves the hair feeling and smelling luxurious afterwards, one of the better brands in terms of not leaving my hair feeling straw-like. Only downfall for me is my super thick hair requires two packets and sometimes almost three at it's longest so this is not an affordable option for me and it is almost more cost effective for me to have it done in a salon than to use this product. Touchups not so bad as I can get away with just the one box but the initial all over colouring outlay is not worth it for me.
Tips: Great product if you only need to use one box at a time!
I was going through a through a blonde/golden brown phase for about 3 years and I was in search for that "perfect shade" and this was one of the first dyes I tried. Being a more expensive box dye I was pretty much expecting the moon and stars for my hair.
My hair is naturally black so I had no expectations of going blonde from my natural hair. My hair had already been coloured and lightened by a disappointing dye which made my hair a shade of orange rather than any shade of blonde.
I was excited to try this dye and got the lightest shade of golden blonde in hopes to soften and take away the orange tinge in my hair but also hoping for some golden/honey blonde as my hair was already lightened.
The colour creme is really luxurious and I understand the price because it feels as though you're dunking your hair in aqueous cream. It is so thick and creamy. The conditioner provided was to dye for and made my hair so soft and very silky.
Wow wee when I rinsed the colour developer from my hair it was the most gorgeous shade of BROWN!! (according to my friends). I was so upset and livid because I wasted my money on this product and not to mention waste my time looking like a clown. I walked around with a orange hair shade for about 6 weeks because I was aware of the dilemnas I could create dying my hair in short intervals.
Maybe the Loreal dye hated the previous dye I used and turned brown, I'm not sure, but I never bought this dye this dye again and never will. I'm not chemist but I'm pretty sure the lightest shade of blonde is never meant to turn BROWN!
I've used many other dyes since and not had this problem of going brown with any other hair dye when I hair is pre lightened.
