I had been meaning to pick up a shampoo that would clarify my hair, and take all the product build up out. I had read in the forum that this was a favorite, and on the cheaper side, so for $7 (which is not cheap for me, it wasn't even on special!) I picked it up at New World and put it in the cart.
It smelled good, and the color of the shampoo itself was green which I liked. Actually, it smelled more than good, I really liked it. The formula was thick for a shampoo, like a light green, rich gel but it was okay. It went into my hair nicely, lathered easily... but that's where it stopped.
The shampoo did absolutely nothing for my hair. Whether its because I had no build up, I'm not sure, but my hair felt stringy, dry and terrible. I had also run out of my 'spensy good shampoo, and I was waiting very impatiently now for it to arrive from iHerb. Even dry, my hair was at its worst, and I realized the extra frizz was because of this shampoo.
I hate the lids on these bottles, I always manage to smash them off, and I'm not entirely sure how I do it. Would I repurchase? Nope.
I have very oily skin and hair, I always have, ever since puberty and it doesn't seem to be letting up with age. As I've been battling to find a decent shampoo, someone recommended this clafiying shampoo, so I thought I'd give it a go.
The shampoo comes in a simple, translucent, 300ml bottle with a push down lid (you push down one side to get the little opening to pop up). The shampoo has a bright green, fairly thick gel-like consistency with a fresh, fruity smell and a good lather.
Once rinsed out, it left my hair feeling clean and soft, smelling good and looking great ... until the next morning when it started looking greasy again. To be honest, this shampoo didn't do much for my hair. It did work well on days when I had to use dry shampoo and washed the dry shampoo residue out really easily, but it did seem to strip my hair and scalp and left it "squeaky" clean, causing it to produce even more oil.
I have to wash my hair every second night, as my hair looks 'wet' by then with all the natural oil production, but after using the shampoo every second night for a month, I got to a point where my hair was looking really greasy and dirty after 12 hours!
This is a great product to use occasionally or every fortnight to remove product build-up. Even though it states that it's gentle enough for daily use, I found it to be too harsh to use as a frequent use shampoo, even on really oily hair.
Will I purchase it again? Probably not, unless I need a shampoo to specifically remove product build-up. Would I recommend it? Only if someone is looking for a shampoo to occasionally clarify their hair with.
Tips: Only use as a clarifying shampoo to remove product build-up every now and then. Don't use frequently as it will cause excess sebum excretion.
