Not as effective as it says

I was excited to be picked for this beauty trial, as I struggle with large blocked pores. When applying, the consistency of the mask is quite thick and gooey, which resulted in the application being a bit difficult, as it didn't come out of the bottle very cleanly. However, once on my skin, it spread around fairly easily. It took around half an hour to fully dry, which is when you can start to peel it off. I was pleasantly surprised at how cleanly and easily the peel-off came away from my skin. It's very satisfying! Once I had removed the mask, I was able to see a little bit of residue that had come from my skin, but not as much as I would have expected. I have used nose pore patches in the past, and was expecting to have similar results to those. I didn't notice any reduction in my pore size, however the box recommends that this takes 4 weeks to notice. Overall, I was pleased that the peel-off seemed to remove some residue from my skin, but would have liked it to have been a bit stronger in terms of what it pulled out.

Tips: It's a bit messy on your fingers when applying, so have something handy to clean your hands!

Tingly and smooth

The Garnier Pure Active Charcoal Peel-Off comes in a small tube and you squeeze out the thick black product. You apply to the areas you are most prone to blackheads, which for me is my cheeks, nose and chin (but you can also apply to your forehead).

Once it is on it makes my skin feel all tingly and gives it a cooling effect, which is quite nice. However the smell is really strong and very intense, especially when you are leaving it on your face for 20-30 minutes. It was so intense it made my eyes sting and water for the first few minutes.

I found it easy to peel off (easier if you apply a thick even layer), but it was a bit sore peeling it off my cheeks. It left my skin feeling clean and smooth, however it seemed to be best for removing dead skin rather than blackheads. Though the black colour means it is a bit hard to see what it has peeled off.

An okay product but I probably won't use that often.

Tips: Apply more than you think which will help you peel it off

Satisfying but ineffective

I was super excited about this product because i'm always down for a beautiful self-love face-mask moment, its usually what I do at the end of the week just to take some time for me and relax. I have combination skin with dryness on my cheeks and a bit of oiliness on my T-Zone with quite a few blackheads around my nose and chin so I'm always looking for some blackhead reducing products to try. The size of the product is quite small especially if you use it twice a week like they recommend, I went about half in a few weeks. The formula goes on pretty easily and doesn't feel awful when it goes on and as it'd drying but the drying time does take awhile so it'd definitely something you need to invest time in and have a wee moment rather than a quick once over before bed. The peeling process can be quite painful if you haven't used a peel-off mask in awhile but it definitely gets better the more you use it but i'm not sure if thats just me getting used to it. I find the peeling itself really satisfying, like using pore strips when you look at all the gunk afterwards, but I haven't noticed a change in the appearance of my blackheads. My skin didn't feel awful afterwards though and I just continued my normal skin routine and wash and moisturised after. I will probably continue to use it despite the lack of results mainly because it is very satisfying and a nice way to invest in my me time.

It was decent!

The price point on this is really budget friendly and for the price this is a decent peel. It applies really smoothly but it took quite awhile longer to dry than expected. I wasn’t overly generous either. The peel off process was a bit difficult, came off in little pieces so that was frustrating. But my skin didn’t feel dry or tight but hydrated which I liked! However it didn’t really remove blackheads or anything. Just made the skin soft. I like that it’s in a tube instead of a jar for hygienic purposes. I think that I will still use and prefer other peels over this one because of the time it takes to use and also the results just being okay.

Charcoal peel off mask

First off packaging is simple squeeze the product out of the tube nothing pretty about the packing which is fine as its about how it works. The smell is odd I don't know how to describe it. Consistency is very thick and hard to apply. Application you have to use a lot of product to apply a thick enough mask to allow easy removal. It recommends 20 to 30 minutes to dry then peel off. The first time I did not apply a thick enough layer and it took so long to remove it and it was painful. It did remove some blackheads and dry skin patches also some fine hairs my face was a little red afterwards. I think I will continue to use it on my nose area only in future as that's the most trouble some area. The price is cheap for the product so it's worth trying out the product won't last too long as it is a small tube. I wouldn't buy it again myself or recommend it to anyone else.

No real difference

The concept behind the product is awesome but I’m unsure if it really worked and probably wouldn’t buy it myself. I would recommend applying a really thick layer other it doesn’t peel off easily as it should. Your skin feels really tingly and nice when it is on. It takes a while to dry - need to leave on for at least 20 minutes if not longer for it to fully dry so it will peel off. After using it I honestly didn’t really notice a difference in the number of blackheads I had and I think it just pulled out hairs more than anything

Tips: Apply a generous thick layer and leave on for at least 20 minutes

Slightly painful to take off, be prepared!

The product is black and thick. As it says to leave on for 20-30 minutes, it is much longer than most other masks I have used. I also don't like the smell of the product that much and it can be a bit off putting. Because of this, there is a lot of time consumed from having to wait around with the smell of the product lingering right above your nose. I'm not entirely sure that it actually removed blackheads but more time is needed to tell. At this point, I can't say I love it or hate it.

Tips: Do not recommend this to anyone with sensitivity to smell!

Generally like peel off masks

I generally like peel off masks, and really wanted to like this.

Things I did like - was reasonably easy to apply, dried pretty smoothly, didn't feel really tight.

Things I didn't like as much - doesn't peel off evenly - any spots where you've applied the mask less thick will break off, and you'll end up having to peel it off in tiny chunks. It also left me feeling pretty dry and hot and red which is unusual for me because I don't have particularly sensitive skin.

Ingredients-wise, it's pretty good, the only thing that concerns me a bit is the added fragrance. It seems a bit unnecessary.

In terms of how well it works - after a couple of uses, it did seem to do similar things as other peel-off masks. Seems to be pretty reasonably priced and easy enough to find, so not a bad option.

Tips: Try applying more thickly than you otherwise might with a mask - that helps with the peel.

Ouch! But satisfying ;)

I have just recently started experiencing some stubborn blackheads across my forehead, so was super excited to give this mask a go!

The mask has activated charcoal so is dark and quite sticky, which makes it a little bit difficult to spread. I applied it to my whole face intially which was a big mistake!! When I tried to peel it off, it snagged on all my hairs and I ended up having to wash it off because it was just so painful!

The next time I used this mask, I just placed it in my T zone and over my blackheads and had much more reasonable results. When I peeled off the mask, I was disappointed to find that it failed to pull out any of my blackheads, and instead it just left my skin looking red and shiny.

I know that salicylic acid is good for breakouts so if you have sensitive skin that will react to tugging when you remove the mask, it might be worth using as a spot treatment and then washing off the mask.

I do have to say that it is incredibly satisfying to peel off, despite being a fair bit of work and leaving behind some residue. In terms of results, it didn't seem to make much of a difference to my blackheads but I might keep using it to see if it just needs longer to work.

Overall, I enjoyed the experience but it is quite a lot of effort to use and I don't think I would buy this again.

Tips: Don't apply over your whole face unless you're ready for some serious hair pulling!

Charcoal Peeling Mask

I’ve seen many videos about this peel off mask . I thought I would get my hands on this mask see what all the hype is about. I like to do my weekly mask at least once a week . This way my skin gets a deep clean.

Packaging comes in a black and blue tube with the Ganier labelling . Consistency is smooth like a silicone paste. Scent reminds me of mint mouth wash. Definitely need to layer this up into a thick layer so you get a good result. It took a good 20 minutes for it to dry down. If you can leave it on for longer I recommend it . As I peeled the mask off I felt all my peach fuzz on my face come off . Felt like a mild waxing lol I didn’t really see any black heads being removed from my nose area . They were still there . I’m gonna keep trying it to see if there’s any new results that may happen.

Overall price wise it’s fair. It was so easy to pick from my job after work . I think it’s more of a novelty thing . My skin did feel cleansed. But not as deep as what my mud masks would give me . I probably wouldn’t buy it again because of that .

Tips: Do a patch test and tie your hair back .
