The Garnier Pure Active Charcoal Peel-Off comes in a small tube and you squeeze out the thick black product. You apply to the areas you are most prone to blackheads, which for me is my cheeks, nose and chin (but you can also apply to your forehead).
Once it is on it makes my skin feel all tingly and gives it a cooling effect, which is quite nice. However the smell is really strong and very intense, especially when you are leaving it on your face for 20-30 minutes. It was so intense it made my eyes sting and water for the first few minutes.
I found it easy to peel off (easier if you apply a thick even layer), but it was a bit sore peeling it off my cheeks. It left my skin feeling clean and smooth, however it seemed to be best for removing dead skin rather than blackheads. Though the black colour means it is a bit hard to see what it has peeled off.
An okay product but I probably won't use that often.
I was excited to be picked for this beauty trial, as I struggle with large blocked pores. When applying, the consistency of the mask is quite thick and gooey, which resulted in the application being a bit difficult, as it didn't come out of the bottle very cleanly. However, once on my skin, it spread around fairly easily. It took around half an hour to fully dry, which is when you can start to peel it off. I was pleasantly surprised at how cleanly and easily the peel-off came away from my skin. It's very satisfying! Once I had removed the mask, I was able to see a little bit of residue that had come from my skin, but not as much as I would have expected. I have used nose pore patches in the past, and was expecting to have similar results to those. I didn't notice any reduction in my pore size, however the box recommends that this takes 4 weeks to notice. Overall, I was pleased that the peel-off seemed to remove some residue from my skin, but would have liked it to have been a bit stronger in terms of what it pulled out.
Tips: It's a bit messy on your fingers when applying, so have something handy to clean your hands!
