I was super excited to try this shampoo, I have been wanting to see what a bar shampoo is like. Obvious bonus points for being less waste, and it smells so good! The bar lathers up easily, although it can get a bit matted with hair when working it through your scalp (there might be a trick I’m not aware of here!). It’s a bit hard to ascertain how much is needed so although the bar promises a certain number of washes I’m not sure how much shampoo is meant to be used per wash so hard to tell!
My hair felt super clean and soft using this shampoo bar and my scalp seems to love it too!
The downside for me would be towards the end of the bar, as with normal body soap, it gets too small to use properly and bits break off until you give up and chuck it in the bin to start a new one. So I’m imaging some wastage towards the end of its life!
I haven't traditionally liked shampoo bars as much as regular shampoo because I've found them drying. This is definitely one of the better ones I've tried because it was a lot less drying than most bar type shampoos.
The smell is really lovely, I love banana! However, a note of caution - if you are not a fan of stronger smells then this isn't for you because certainly not a light fragrance, it's pretty strong.
The bar lathers up nicely, and is easy to spread through your hair, which I loved. Other bars I've used have been hard to spread.
My hair felt really clean after using this bar, which was nice.
My favourite thing about this product is how sustainable it is. Buying this means no plastic waste, little water used to make the bar, and the cardboard packaging is recyclable. These are extremely important elements and I would love to see more brands making more sustainable products like this one. I love that this is a relatively affordable option too, in comparison with some shampoo bar brands. I love how accessible this is for people too, it's easy to find in the supermarket.
Tips: I'd recommend using this mostly on the scalp and avoiding the ends of your hair, to avoid drying out your ends. Shampoos in general can be drying on your ends, and I've found shampoo bars to dry more than liquid shampoo (although this one is much less drying than others).
