I was given this EDT as a gift many years ago when it was very popular. I don’t know what the cost was then but the bottle shape has since changed and the scent may have too. Many people just love this scent, but it just does not agree with me so I put it down to my skin reaction, or my sense of smell? I find the top notes to be very overpowering with a very strong floral scent, smells like a flowershop full of lots of aromatic flowers in bloom. It’s a scent that old ladies would wear, and there is also a powdery talc smell mixed in with it. Unfortunately, these tops notes are the only scent I can smell and it dominates the base and middle notes which I cannot clearly identify because of so many floral scents. It lasts for ages and a little goes a long way so if you really love this scent, I think it would be value for money. In fact, its so long lasting that I can still smell a hint of it the next day, even after I have showered. It is only then that a whiff of the sandalwood base notes came through for me, and it was quite pleasant, but by then you could hardly smell it. Alas, this is not for me as I favour a scent that is more sandalwood.

Tips: Don't put too much on, a little goes a long way and lasts for ages.
Growing up every time we asked Mum what we could get her as a present she said, "Red Door." When she finally got a little bottle of it, not from us thankfully, she didn't like it and passed it on to me. Unfortunately the scent was far too strong for me and actually gave me a headache.
The bottle I got is fairly basic, I like the one in the pictures here much more - I always wondered why mine wasn't fashioned into a door for its name. For me the notes come out as very strong floral, the main being jasmine I think which I have never been a big fan of. It is very strong, I only had the EDT but it was more like the strenght of most EDPs.
I really don't understand the hype around Red Door. I guess when something has been around for this long there must be people out there that like it (my aunt for one) but it really doesn't sit well with me. I find it too strong and quiet an "old" scent, not modern or youthful.
I just don't like this fragrance! My nana has worn this for as long as I can remember and, as much as I love my nana, the scent really catches in the back of the throat. It's horrendously strong (and no, nana doesn't marinade in it...) and lingers for hours. If you're after a strong, bold, statement scent that demands people stop and see where it's coming from then OK, this product might be for you. If you're a little more reserved, stay away from the Red Door!
Warm scent but just says my mum when I was 12. Even she at 50 says nana scent. Very strong. Very long lasting scent
Tips: Can be very overpowering so under scent yourself
i cant say this is one of the best ive tried. I found the smell quite over powering and gave me a headache whenever i sprayed it. It has a much older scent, not a flowery, sweet youthful scent that I much prefer
Tips: i think it best suits a more mature, older woman
When I was growing up, Red Door was what everyone was wearing. So when hubby got me one I was looking forward to wearing it. Lets start with the packaging. I had the older version which was a clear bottle with a gold stripe around the red arched cap which looked like a door. I preper the packaging it comes in now as it looks so pretty-not that I would buy it.
I had the 100ml one. The scent smelled good in the bottle but when I put it on, it didnt smell as nice. I found the rose overpowered the other scents. On me it smelly like sweat and baby powder mixed together. Lol. I have a weird sense of smell. It was a sweet floral and subtle scent. However I would like to comment that I liked it when other people wore it. Goes to show that all perfumes smell differently on other people.
Ironically I have been given this same perfume from other people as gifts. About three more bottles. But all have been regifted to people who enjoy them. I would buy it as a gift for someone else but not for myself.
When I out this on I literally transformed into an old lady. This scent is the definition of an older woman still trying to maintain youthfulness with the smells of 1960. I was given this scent by an Aunty...I give it points for being long wearing and clinging to literally everything. The packaging is nice and deceptive, just don’t spray it LOL! It is one of those perfumes that you can’t spray everywhere otherwise you will receive complaints about how your overpowering smell is clogging the airways. I love Eliza A. perfumes, but this one just gives me hay fever.
Tips: Stick it in your undie drawer with your granny panties.
I have heard great things, but honestly this sucked for me personally. I was soo excited to get it but the scent fades soooo quickly. It's also stronger then I expect but I guess some would like that.
Tips: If you like something especially strong for short periods of time, this may be good for you.
This perfume was long lasting and lasted all day. In the end I didn't like how strong it was and didn't wear it often because of it. It smells nice but just far too strong for me because it overpowers everything else when I was wearing it. I love the bottle it's so cute and it's easy to use.
Tips: Don't spray on too much it can be overpowering
