My New Holy Grail.

After hearing a lot of hype about this foundation, I finally decided to ignore the threats from my bank account and purchase it. This was something I really wanted to try because my skin is dry and often foundations end up looking either dull or patchy on me.

The bottle is small and made out of glass. It feels heavy and expensive and really well made. However - this DOES NOT come with a pump. For the price I was a bit annoyed that I had to purchase a pump separately - but I love the product so much that this is an annoyance rather than a serious detriment. Also worth noting is that once you do have a pump, the lid won't fit on the foundation - although the pump itself has a lock to prevent spillage.

I am in the shade Gobi which is rather light with yellow undertones. This is a great match for me and I used findation to match my colour.

The product itself is quite liquidy and not at all thick. True to its name it is sheer - but only in consistency. The coverage it provides is medium and definitely not sheer, although you can still see your skin through one application. My favourite things about this foundation are that - it actually looks like skin, you can build it up and the coverage is great but it still looks like skin (it doesn't make you look cakey at all), and that this is great on my dry skin.

So far I haven't had any issues with this clinging to dry patches or enhancing the dryness of my skin. As the name of the product suggests, it does have a glowy finish but this isn't super dewy. However if you prefer a matte finish then I wouldn't recommend this for you - unless you plan on applying powder over the top.

Yes this is a pricey product. However, you only need a small amount of this to completely cover your face (one pump), so this is going to last a while. This foundation lasts all day on me (12 hours), without patching up or looking weird. I do set this with a setting spray so that possibly helps prolong the wear.

I have tried both a beauty blender and a brush to apply this and have found that - for my skin, a beauty blender is far more natural and flawless looking. In saying that though a brush usually tends to micro exfoliate my skin and I prefer a BB in general.

Overall I am so, so glad I decided to splurge on this. I will absolutely repurchase it even though the cost makes me cringe. It feels lightweight on the skin, gives me a subtle, healthy looking glow and looks natural. I love this!

Tips: Get a sample of this from Mecca or a NARS counter if you want to purchase it to make sure you like it :)

Thanks kellyleanne - I was worried I wouldn't like it due to the price but I love it! Thanks so much Chikoboo - if I'm brave enough to attempt a matte face again I'll try that out :)

I feel in love with this foundation on your skin!! *creepy much* but I found that even on my dry skin I got a matte effect by just a touch of loose setting powder that allow the glow effect to still come on through =)

Nars Sheer Glow

Nars Sheer Glow isn't what you expect! When you think 'sheer' you think low coverage, but this product is totally not! This foundation gives a medium to full coverage foundation, and what makes it so awesome is that it's a super light weight formula so there is no chance of cakeyness or flaking! You can put on the thinnest layer and get beautiful coverage, and if you want full coverage you just put on another thin layer and there you have it! The shade range is great and there are alot of colours to chose from, personally I'm quite pale and find it hard to find a shade that properly suits my skintone, but the shade Deauville/Mont Blanc is perfect for me. Also I have really dry skin and this foundation is great for it, it hydrates my skin and gives it a healthy glow while doing it's job as a foundation! Absolute love the stuff! The only downside is that it's quite pricey, around $80 a pop depending on where you buy it! But considering the pros I would justify it as worth buying! :-)

Tips: Apply it with a flat top kabuki or wet beauty blender for best results! I find you need to set it with a powder to make it stay - makes sense since it is such a lightweight formula!

Hands down the best full coverage foundation ever!

I was sold on this from reading and seeing another BR member wearing it making her skin glow with health and radiant beauty, so I got jealous and after attaining some samples to colour match myself I purchased from Nordstrom.

I'm in the lightest shade: Siberia

Packaging for NARS is very universal across the whole brand with its texturised black with white NARS logo printed as a lid for the foundation bottle which is made of glass, it just feels luxurious which is what you want for the price you have to pay for this product. Only downside is that Sheer Glow doesn’t come with a pump, you have to purchase this separately (extra $6 usd) but I feel it is best to extend the product by control the quantity used each application. Formula wise this is a moderately thick foundation but not too thick that it sets quickly on your face or drags across the skin, but not so thin that it runs easily, it’s the perfect texture to apply with a dampen sponge to get a flawless even coating. Even though this is called Sheer Glow and I was warned and half expecting my skin to become dried out by the formula, this has yet to happen in fact it keeps my skin in a nice condition, the coverage is a full effect so also helps to cover blemishes and marks. Being a long wear foundation too I saw this coverage hold up with descending into an oily mess or dried up parched look for a full 10-12 hours easily. Removing the foundation was easy too no need for any special remover, just a makeup remover wipe followed by my normal cleanser.

The effect that this foundation gives my skin those is enough to give me goose bumps I am left with a perfect porcelain toned coverage that glows at the right spots, across the cheeks and temples. My skin looks dewy but not oily, matte and soft but not dry and flaky it is just the best I can not rave any more about it, even though it is super expensive even if you purchase in the US it is still one of the most expensive foundations it shows and is truly worth its price tag. I see myself forever in love with this foundation now it is going to take some kind of magic to force another into my heart.

NARS Sheer Glow

When I went to try this product I was a little scared of the Share Glow in the name due to my oily skin I tend to stay away from dewy foundation and go more towards more matte oil free foundation. NARS also makes a Matte foundation as well as the sheer glow. When I went to the counter the lady helping me convinced me to try the Sheer Glow I was hesitant at first and thought it was not going to look good. But it looked amazing she was right it looked better than the Matte I have no idea why! It didn't leave my skin looking oily but gave it a lovely finish with a perfect amount of coverage. I had fallen in love and had to buy one. I love using this at night time and during the day as it is build-able. I but this on with ma flat kabuki brush and use my benefit porefessional as a primer underneath it. I highly recommend giving this foundation a try!

Its good.

I had heard this foundation was suitable for combo, oily skin as it has a more matte finish.. It is defintaly a lot more MATTE than GLOWY but it does tend to cake up and it makes me shiny within about 4 hours of wearing it during the day. It is buildable coverage but I think you are best to apply with a flat top brush, and to blend it out fast before it drys, if that's the look your wanting.

I was wanting this foundation for so long and when i finally got it was so disappointed! I tryed it with a brush and beauty blender but it would just not sit right on my skin.

Tips: Dont buy online like i did, get someone in store to try it on your skin first!

A foundation to last all day!

I recently got some samples of Nars sheer glow but was so pleased I had to purchase! I am an nc15 in most Mac foundations but an nc20 in studio sculpt. I am a light colour with yellow undertones. I use the shades deauville for when I'm paler and Santa Fe when I have a tan. I have been so pleased with this foundation. It lasts all through a working day, whereas other foundations including Mac ones tend to wear off. It has a medium to full coverage but doesn't look unnatural. Though I am a matte girl through and through, I like the natural and slightly dewy look of this foundation.

I'm In Love

I have been looking for AGES for a foundation that gives me that dewy, fresh look, and I think I may have finally found it.

Got myself colour matched at mecca cosmetica, and she was right on the money with my correct tone (the foundation was also on special as well, so that was a bonus).

I haven't got a pump for this (I didn't realise that you had to buy this separately), so just tipped some out and applied it using my xo beauty flat top brush. You really don't need to use much to get a decent coverage and I love the fact that this foundation is buildable.

Seems to be rather long lasting as well. I work in a bar where the nights can get quite hot and when I got home, the majority of the foundation was still on, just a bit faded around the areas where I have slightly sweated.

Love the dewy look this foundation gives. I also noticed that my pores were very minimised and my face looked almost flawless.

I think I have found my new foundation. SO HAPPY :o)

Hg foundation

Nars my baby why are you so perfect. My wallet will bleed for you over and over again although the little glass bottle does last quite a while. I don't wear foundation everyday' most days I reach for my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard to cover a few spots. However, if I am feeling foundationy I will reach for this. The shade I have is in Gobi which is a tad too light for me so I mix it with my trust Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation. The Nars one by itself gives such a nice natural subtle sheen to the face but what I like best about this bad boy is how weightless it feels on my skin. I could do layers of this (which I dont FYI) and it'll just end up feeling like my own skin. The finish is more of a velvet finish, so fear not my oily skin friends, this will work for you too. The coverage is light to medium, but I usually just go over it with a concealer again. I haven't tried many foundations, to be honest. I snob drugstore brands because I'm a snob (hate me idc) so all the foundations I have used are high end. I figured if you're gonna layer this stuff all over your face, may as well splurge a bit.

Tips: Beauty blender works soooo well with this foundation to achieve a very natural finish. Or if you want a tad bit more coverage, use a buffing brush. I use the real technique's one and it's so lovely. Just make sure to set this foundation because I have noticed that this foundation wears out quite quickly

Disappointed.

I just couldn't get this foundation to work for me. I have normal skin, leading more to dry then oily. I found the only way to get this foundation to blend was by using a damp sponge, then I found it was too lighter coverage (and I'm not a fan of full coverage) it says the best way to apply is with your fingers but this didn't work for me, nor did a brush. It would look streaky and not sink into my skin. It was far too frustrating to get it too look right so I gave up on it.

When I wore it I didn't find my skin looked glowy. It was more of a satin finish which wasn't what I was looking for.

The packaging is a nice glass bottle but I think it's annoying having to buy a pump seperately. And once you have a pump the lid isn't able to be used.

They have a good selection of shades.
