Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation Review

This Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation is by far now my favourite foundation. It goes on so smoothly and clean and doesn't dry my skin out like other foundations I have used in the past. It has a great coverage and smooths out the tones of my skin evenly. I also found with using this foundation regularly since I got it, it doesn't leave my skin irritated or make my skin break out which is a serious bonus! Great consistency and not too thick or cakey while making my skin look flawless. It also doesn't feel like I'm wearing heaps of foundation when I use it, as it is quite light. I will definitely purchase this product from now on and recommend it to my friends! It also matches my skin tone perfectly. Super happy with this foundation :)

By golly I was excited to put this stuff to the test, and super excited to be chosen on the review team. The hype around this new product was (and still is) huge. Why is this you ask? Maybelline have done something pretty radical and made a foundation that promises better skin in 3 weeks. Foundation that gives you better skin? What is this madness? Dubbed as a dupe for Double Wear, this foundation had big shoes to fill. Here are my thoughts on this new offering from Maybelline:

It comes in a clear glass bottle with a blue pump and a clear plastic lid. The packaging is fine, nothing fancy, I’d even go as far to say that Maybelline may have missed an opportunity here to really up the ante on their packaging. With respect to the product itself, the foundation is a creamy, medium thickness liquid that spreads like a charm without losing coverage, and so I found application with my fingers to be a breeze. I did find that it looked a lot more awesome when I had primed my skin beforehand, as otherwise it tended to sit into lines of the skin a bit. This is a medium to full coverage foundation that covers pretty much everything. Yes, it does have similar coverage to Double Wear, but unlike Double Wear, it doesn’t feel like it is suffocating your skin. It has a fairly natural finish, I wouldn’t really put it under the matte category but it certainty isn’t dewy either. I quite liked it actually, my skin looked like real skin afterwards, but slightly more radiant and healthy. On the bottle it says all day wear. This I’m not so sure about; whilst it did have better staying power than the majority of foundations I tried, it still needed touching up at around 4pm following an application at around 7am.

Now for the shade. For those who haven’t read any of my other reviews, I’m basically about as fair skinned as they come. I am pleased to announce that this foundation in 005 Light Beige was just light enough for me to wear. And when I say just, I’m not kidding. It was really on the borderline of being too dark and too warm but it passed the the shade test by a whisker. A great summer foundation for me then. So if you’re fair, go for gold and get Light Beige. If you are off the charts fair, like yours truly, maybe double check in store first. I shall now address the claim of better skin in three weeks. I have had 2 weeks to test this, and in that time I had a breakout at the start (which I put down to uni exam stress) but then pretty much didn’t see an appreciable change in my skin. I think time will have to tell with this one. I like the idea of a vitamin C infused product, but I don’t think this is a miracle worker.

I think it’s a decent price at 34 dollars, and I anticipate it lasting me a good few months. All things considered, this is a good quality foundation that is worth a look if you fancy a change. In my opinion, it falls slightly short of some of its claims, but it definitely performs better than many products in its price bracket.

I usually only wear BB cream and a powder so wearing a full coverage foundation really made a difference to the appearance of my skin. It covers my acne and scarring well. It glides on easily and can be worked out with a brush nicely. I found myself washing my face at lunchtime and reapplying because my face as too oily. This may be because my skin isn't used to wearing a heavier foundation. I wore it out dancing with a powder on top and it stayed flawless so I'm impressed with that. I'm not sure about the claims that it improves the skins appearance but my skin is looking better and this may be one of the elements that contributed to it.

I have quite oily skin and large pores, normally make up just "slides" right off or worse sits on my pores making them more noticable, when I heard about better skin foundation I thought maybe it would be a winner.. When I first applied it I liked it, on its own its medium coverage but with a bb underneath it's pretty full coverage, it felt nice and light and blended easily. But that's where the happiness stopped, I blew my nose and it transferred badly, by 5 o'clock it was pretty much gone, not put off though I tried the next day with primer to see if that helped but again it just didn't last the distance so I went to powder, under and over the foundation, it did last better but still not all day! After a few days my skin started to break out as well, so I think my journey with this foundation is over and I will be continuing the hunt for the "one" ;)

I have quite sensitive skin but this product did not irritate my skin at all. The consistency is creamy but as i tried to blend it in it took a while and i could see lines from me trying to rub it into the skin so it wasn't as great as i thought it would be. I have a little bit of acne scaring but it didn't cover it very well, it was good for my under eye circles and that was about it. It stays on for up to 8 hours and does not need much touch ups. When applying it I didn't need to use much at all and the packaging is great and is very easy to get the foundation out of the bottle. I have to say i thought this product would work better for coverage but one thing it does do well is make your skin look better after using it for a couple of weeks my skin is less oily now and appears much smoother now. I don't know if i will use this product again as i like a bit more coverage from a foundation but for keeping my skin looking it's best and not not giving me acne this works great. I would recommend this foundation to people with little acne and scaring or people wanting a more natural look and better looking skin after using it for a few weeks.

Well I was not sure about this product to be honest I didn't think a foundation could improve your skin .... But I was wrong. I found this product quite dry the ! st day so the 2nd day I put it on straight after I had moisturised and it was much better. It does what it says Stays on all day and let me tell you My skin is looking great even without make. I love this product and would happliy recommend it to anyone. it covers redness sun spots freckles and I have a friend who has a birthmark on her cheek and she tried it and it even cover that as well. It is light to wear and easy to remove I will be buying this in the future :)

I was really excited to try this out ! I am still using it now rather than my double wear - it's just hard not to go back to it . There was a few things that didn't go well for me as I did break out quite a bit in the beginning but now my skin has smoothed out and feels great. Also I ended up playing basketball in it and it didn't last the whole game . ( that game was after work so it was a long game) . It gives an awesome finish and covered all my imperfections. I would definitely recommend !!

I was pretty curious to try the foundation as I would never normally purchase a Maybelline foundation. I was happy with the coverage - I would say it was medium but you could layer up for more fuller coverage. I selected 021 Nude as my shade and I thought it was a very natural colour and blended perfectly into my skin without being too orangey as some other products can be. The first day I wore it I found it did sink a little into the lines on my face. However I kept using it and have now fallen in love with the product. The foundation goes on smoothly and flawlessly and gives my face a lovely finish. It also does last all day which I really enjoyed. I've been using it for two weeks straight now and I'm not sold on it improving my skin complexion however the product still goes on flawlessly and smoothly every morning so that's good enough for me!

I was super excited to be chosen to be a part of this trial as I was interested in purchasing this product anyway due wanting to see if it was 'worth the hype'. I received this foundation in the shade 005 - Light Beige which is the lightest shade in this range. I find that this shade was a little too warm for my complexion but it wasn't too noticeable.

The packaging is very sturdy due to being made from glass or something similar and it has a blue plastic pump which I personally love as you can control the amount of product you need/want.

I have found that the formula is just right as it isn't too thick or too thin. I was quite surprised that this foundation only gave me minimal coverage as it hardly covered up my redness which is pretty minimal. However, I do like this foundation for a natural, everyday base as I can still see my skin coming through. I have found that this foundation is easy to blend and also the finish is different as it isn't completely matte and it isn't completely dewy. I have found for my normal skin this foundation lasts all day before having to get re-touched. I was very disappointed with the coverage as it did promise/state medium-full coverage. Note: I was trialing this product on its own without concealer or powder.

I have found that this product isn't exactly what I am looking for and doubt that I will ever actually reach for this. I have found that the pricing isn't exactly the cheapest and it doesn't cater for many skintones.

I was very much looking forward to trying this foundation. It's very easy to apply. I use a brush to apply liquid foundations and blend, blend, blend. This foundation is very light as well. You really don't notice that you are wearing it.....until you look in the mirror. Unfortunately for me, it sets in my wrinkles and emphasises them. Maybe this would suit a younger person. Because my wrinkles seemed worse using this foundation, I did not wear it ALL day. Only while I was at home (I finish work at 1pm), to test the foundation as best as I could so I could review it
