Chipped and Peeled off! :(

I must say i am NOT happy with the Orly Nail Lacquer. For Some reason it dried and looked AMAZING but it started to chip then it actually peels off. leaving my nail nice and clean, as if it was never painted. I tried with the base coat and then the colour and a top coat but nothing seemed to help. I am so annoyed.

I am obsessed!

I love Orly, just ask my friends. What i love, my nails are pretty picky with what goes on them, and orly is one of the brands that wont chip easily, will last longer than a week and some of the colours only need one coat applied. At the moment, i am crazy about the 3D Pixel polish. I have 5 of the colours and on my 3rd bottle of the silver one. Orly have recently had a Look makeover, and have come out with smaller bottles for $13.99, a lot more new colours including Fluros!!! So yes, 5/5 from me!

Pleasantly surprised

I have this polish in a really dark midnight blue shade and I have to say I have been quite pleased with it.

Firstly, the grippy handle is a really good feature. It may not look as sleek as an OPI varnish but I haven't had any trouble getting this polish open - I'm always struggling with my OPI varnishes. It also makes it a lot easier to apply without any slippages.

The brush is a nice shape and allows the polish to just glide on without being awkwardly square or too big. The polish itself is a really great consistency, not gluggish but more of a watery feel to it. Easily applied in two coats.

Although it chipped after about a days use I found it only chipped very slightly and didn't come off in big chunks like i sometimes experience with other polishes. It was easily touched up and went on to last a solid 4 days until it got super tattery.

Overall I would highly recommend these polishes and I can't wait to get them in more shades.

Half and half

I am super undecided on Orly. The colours, especially the pale pinks and nudes are generally always stunning and that's what draws me more to Orly more than OPI. But I find Orly nail polish quite thin. I have had to do a minimum of 3 coats with some of the shallower shades and I often end up with a streaky look as a result of this. Not entirely impressed with it but the shades are gorgeous so it is worth giving it a go!

So so

This nail polish is good but not great! I buy it because I love the midnight blue shade, its a constant in my life. It last long and doesn't go off fast and separate which is always good. It stays on for a couple of days but chips after 1 or 2. It dries really lovely, flat and fast and doesn't clump/glug up.

Tips: As with any nail polish use a base and top coat :)

Nail-ed it

I used to only ever swear by OPI polish because I had always been told that nothing else came even close! Then I went to beauty school where we were ONLY allowed to use Orly. I was expecting disastrous results only to find myself pleasantly surprised! When it comes to color ranges, Orly has many unique and eye catching colors that I always prefer over the OPI colors. In terms of packaging, the easy-to-grip handle and well-shaped brush make application much easier than any other polish i've tried. The amount of time the polish stays on for is dependent of the color in many cases. Some of the colors chip within a week while others take a bit longer. This polish is definitely no miracle working gel formula but I will always continue to buy it and use it. I have very happy hands now! Thanks Orly!

I love Orly!

When I look at my nail polish collection I see a pattern that is really obvious and that is that I clearly prefer Orly.

I find that the color ranges they come out with, finishes and general all round products they have are of a higher standard than other brands I have used.

The bottles all have a really comfortable and easy to hold handle too which makes application comfortable and easy, and the brushes always cover the nail well.

I highly recommend seeking out Orly polishes, the range will blow your mind!

Tips: Buy the Orly nail bonder to use with Orly matte and textured polishes.. Not only is this essential to get the effect without the use of the top coat but it will make your manicured nails stay polished for longer!

Not for me...

Orly has a FANTASTIC range of colours- they are unique and look awesome, my favourite being "Steel Your Heart" which is the most awesome grey- a colour that I haven't been able to find anywhere else however that's where the positives end. I find I need 4-5 coats of this lacquer just to get nice coverage and quality colour. And then there's the drying time. I thought OPI had the longest drying time, but Orly far exceeds that. This stuff takes a ridiculous amount of time to try and it smudges very easily. I rarely use the 1 Orly lacquer I have even though the colour is to die for, because it takes so so long to dry; I just don't have the time to wait around doing nothing.

Huge disappointment

I am very well acquainted with this nail polish as it is the chosen brand to work with on my beauty course. Let's just say I have a big disliking for this product and do not understand the hype at all. Yes, the shade range is phenomenal! So many gorgeous colours to choose from but what's the point when the formula isn't on par with more affordable brands? I find this to be streaky and goopy - you don't get much play time with this polish. It's also not fast drying at all and some of the shades require 3+ coats for a good opaque finish. Even when Orly's top coat is applied I get chipping and flaking within a day or two which I do not experience with other brands. Overall I do not recommend these, I much prefer Essie and Sally Hansen over this brand.

Fantastic colours, but watch out for the sheers!

I am a nail polish addict and have tried a lot of different brands and Orly is in my top 3. I especially like that you can buy the mini bottles as I change my mind so often I don't finish a full size bottle before it starts to dry up or go gluggy.

My biggest issue (like most people) is that it can be very sheer and I do not like applying more than 2 coats (and then a top coat) as I'm impatient and hate waiting more than a couple of minutes for them to dry. The consistency really changes colour to colour though as I have a few that are rich and creamy and only take one coat for full coverage. Black Out for example is one of my favourite black polishes as it goes on smooth and even and usually only need one coat. Other ones I use regularly are "Bubbly Bombshell" which is a purple pink glitter (usually over a creme as it's fairly sheer on its own) and "Limelite" which is a really subtle pearly aqua/mint colour (again better used over a base colour).

Now when it comes to lasting the distance... I think it's just as good as OPI/China Glaze/Essie etc.. I usually only get 3 or 4 days (with a top coat) before I get chipping no matter what brand. Dry time I find similar, maybe a tiny bit slower but not by much.

As far as presentation and usability goes I give the bottles top marks. I like the feel of the applicator top, it's not slippery and allows for good control (even with my shaky hands). Again I like the cute little mini bottles!
