Sandy Sparkle

I got one of these nail polishes to try as I had heard great things, and the price was right! The lonely shade I have is 'Vesper', - A deep violet color..

Wow this stuff is hardy! It's far tougher wearing than "regular" gloss finish OPI polishes of which I get on average 3 days wear out of, the liquid sand lasts twice as long before noticeable chipping starts happening. And as with glitter polishes it's a bit of a bugger to remove..

The finish is unique as far as i'm aware.. Grainy as would be expected, and matte but with hints of shimmery sparkle where the light hits. 2-3 coats are needed for an opaque finish, and the drying time is average I guess.. Around 10-20 minutes for 2-3 coats.

Another good thing I find with this liquid sand polish is that it hides any roughage of the finger nails. If your tips can get a bit manky at times with layers of nail peeling and flaking, this polish may make you a fine friend as it has for me! Definitely want to get some more of these!

Mission to Remove

Probably one of the most interesting 'limited edition' products ever.

It has a beautiful effect when applied to your nails - matte but still with a little bit of shine from the glitter in it. I find it does dry a lot quicker than normal polish too. It's super long lasting - like lasts until you choose to remove it long lasting. I did find that sometimes the texture of my nails meant my nails would snag on things, but that's not really a big deal and it wasn't that often either.

If you find your nails split easily or they're weak, this probably isn't the best polish for you, I found this made my nails split after putting it on for the first time in months.

It is a REAL mission to remove, so be prepared to put in a little extra effort in that department. Think glitter polish, but 10 times harder to remove! lol

Must have for any nail polish enthusiast

Firstly I love anything nail art/polish related, and when opi came out with their liquid sand line i wasnt that interested because I usually like a smooth finish but then I won a bulk lot on trademe and 1 of them was a liquid sand nail polish in the color Pussy galore. Ok the name is pretty gross but the color is a beautiful light pink, I used 2 coats, the colour went on nicely, it was opaque and dried pretty quickly. It stayed on for ages, which is pretty amazing for me because I work in an environment that is not nail polish friendly. They are pretty hard to get off but i usually alternate between this and glitter for work (because they dont chip easily) so im use to the work i put into removing it, some may find it annoying though. overall i highly recommend this colour its so pretty, I have light-med skin tone and i always get compliments when I wear it, although i feel awkward telling them the name of it. Pussy galore, its truly a lovely shade

So frustrating to get off!

This polish comes in a lovely range of shades and has a wonderful sand effect which i did enjoy. It was easy to apply and i found it was super long lasting.. So long lasting that i couldn't get it off easy however. And I find that frustrating. With kids I have to do my nails fast and I simply dont have the time to scrub and scrub with a cotton pad to get it off! The sand effect was very forgiving however, Im not a smooth nail painter, so i won't be looking for a job as a manicurist any time soon but this hides all my extra lumps and bumps and it looks like they are meant to be there :P Has to be a bonus hehe

Long-lasting and quick drying!

OPI's Liquid Sand polishes are a really cool invention. They have a different texture to any other polish and have really different finishes.

They are a bit trickier to apply due to the formula being very thick, but they dry quicker than all my other polishes and last a LOT longer.

Wear time for these is a week easily, and that's with using my hands day in day out. They don't chip, they only wear signs they show are tip wear over time.

Removal however.. THE HARDEST THING EVER. Seriously though, this polish is practically bomb proof. You need to soak your nails in remover and scrub to get these off, which I find makes my nails dry and a bit peely for a while afterwards. This is the trade off though for such a long wearing polish I suppose!

Tips: Don't ever use these without a basecoat!

Gritty glitter

I was lucky to recieve a set of 4 of these for a birthday (I believe it was the Mariah Carey set) containing a black with red glitter, a blue, a red and a purple OPI Liquid Sand polish.

Like all OPI polishes these are a good consistency, with a good brush (even in the mini size) and good coverage.

The point of difference to these is the liquid sand aspect - the best way I can think of to describe it would be as a matte glitter, which makes no sense but is what they are. There is some sparkle, and (with a clear topcoat) a bit of shine, but the true glory lies in the texture and the crazy depth of colour that is somehow made possible by the tiny 3D 'sand' particles.

You DO need a few coats of this to build up the depth, but once you have it it's really quite striking.

This polish wears well - almost too well as it can be a nightmare to remove, requiring soaking of nails (or a trip to the salon for them to do it with their magic liquid ;) ) but it's really quite cool to look at, so I persevere.

A word of warning though - this does leave your nails super rough - it's a little like you've been building sandcastles and haven't cleaned the sand off your hands - so watch delicate fabrics, hair, baby skin etc as they can be a little abrasive when fresh.

O.P.I Liquid Sand Vesper

O.P.I is well known for it's beautiful nail polish. O.P.I's range has expanded over the last few years. Your now able to buy Celebrity Inspired nail colours, mini's, Shatter polish and the lastest trend being Liquid sand colours. What I love about O.P.I is that I'm guaranteed longwear. Longer than two days. I purchased this O.P. I from my local Warehouse. I went in to get Laundry Powder and somehow came out with two O.P.I's.

This bottle is a 15 ml. You get quite a bit in a bottle. It's a glass bottle that's easy to open and close. I open the bottle up to find a decent sized brush. The brush isn't thin like other nail colours. The colour I chose is Vesper. It's a very dark purple black. It has a sandy texture to it.

On application with my first coat of polish it was opaque in purple colouring. It took about 5 minutes to dry. That's not to bad as it takes longer with others on the first coat. The second coat took and extra 2 minutes to dry about 7 minutes in total. Third and fourth coat about ten minutes in between. I added a fifth coat to get extra texture but thats optional. Finally I like to add a top coat for added protection.

My results of using this Vesper Liquid sand is textured nails. Looks like deep purple black rough rock. It had your usual nail polish smell to it. It lasted me four days on my fingers. I was lucky to get my O.P.I at a bargain for $3.50. They can be priced quite high but you will get quality with buying these nail colours. I highly reccomend O.P. I. I will try more colours and textures in their range.

Shade Vesper

I got given Vesper off a friend and I loved he idea of this stuff so couldn't wait to apply it. The shade Vesper looks like a very dark plum purple in the bottle and with just one coat. However after applying second coat it pretty much looks black. I feel like wearing it is a little scratchy, running my fingers through my hair drags. I don't hate it so much on my toes though so will continue to wear it there. Its doesn't chip off easily and lasts for ages without a top coat. Its a really good quality and I like the look but the sand paper like scratchiness is why I wouldn't repurchase. Mind you with a name like liquid sand I should have expected as much.

OPI Sands

I saw some have this on and it looked great, got some myself and love it. Really long lasting, almost too long lasting haha as it can be hard to get off that would be it's only downfall. But other wise a great nail polish doesn't chip and can be put on easily and layered. Does fade if out in the sun for hours but another coat on top will fix that.

Tips: To remove I soak cotton pads and wrap them round my toes then leave them for a few minutes.

Great effect

I now have a collection of liquid sand polishes which seem to be multiplying unintentionally- I just can't resist them! OPI liquid sand nail polishes apply very easily- a little goes a long way and the colours I have used are well pigmented so 1-2 coats is more than enough. The polish dries quickly which is perfect for when you are in a rush. The polish has a great texture- kind of like fine grade sand paper. You don't need to use a top coat either, which is another bonus!! I have found these polishes are fairly chip resistant- I can get a good 2 days before I need to do touch ups. One problem I have found and have seen from other people reviews, is that they are pretty stubborn and take some work to get off.
