Colourful

I have this nail polish in two shades: a grey and a black with gold glitter. I do really like the colour range of this nail polish as there are many options for a great price.

The two colours I have a fairly pigmented; I usually do about two coats and that seems to be fine. Like any brand, I would say the pigmentation and quality depend on the colours that you buy, so for my two I am happy. They come in a nice size bottle that is different from other brands (so easy to spot in your nail polish collection). The brush is ok - I have definitely used better but I have also used worse.

I do not believe that it is chip-free. It does chip after a little while, especially if you do not use a top and base coat. I have not had issues with it staining my nails as I do use a base coat and my colours are quite neutral.

Overall, it is an ok nail polish. I am happy with the colours that I have but I can't say I would rush out to buy more. I do like the colour range but I do not like that it does not live up to its "chip-free" claim. Worth a shot for the price though!

Tips: Base and top coat are necessary!

Good lacquer under 9$

There are few choices of nail lacquers under 9$ and I think Maybelline is one of the best choices. Their products can be found everywhere, in all supermarkets and pharmacies. Besides, the nail lacquers are cheap, I often get mine for special sale like 6$ each.

This line of Maybelline nail colours also come in many shades, there are at least 20 different colours you can choose from. With that price you can always have your own collection of nail polishes. I also like the fact that the polish dries up quite quickly.

Although I'm pleased with the price, I don't really like: The longevity: it's said to be a non-chipped lacquer but mine got chipped for less than two days.

The brush is too small and the "hair" makes it hard to create a smooth look for your nail. I personally prefer OPI and China Glaze as they have wonderful brushes.

Tips: Using a good base coat to prevent chipping. Applying 2-3 thin layers also helps to prolong the wear

Completely acceptable

These nail polishes are fine - not my go-to, but if they're on special and there's a colour I want, I'll go for it. They do lots of collections which means there's always a good colour selection and often new shades.

They go on fine and dry quite quickly, which is good because the lighter shades in particular need a few coats to look good. They don't go streaky.

The one huge drawback with these polishes over other brands is they stain your nails quite considerably. No matter what colour I've used in this range, if I don't use a base coat they make my nails yellow.

Tips: Definitely use a base coat!

Mixed Reviews

I have a few of these polishes and they DO chip of course they do,I don't know why they would say they don't, the only thing i find doesn't chip is gel polish, but anyway I have a couple out of the normal range, out of the denims range and metallic also, I found they go on really well and smooth the brush is the right size, the pigment in the enamel for me personally pays off really well and 2 coats is perfect. I love the colour range theres no many to choose from and they are just beautiful.

They are not a polish for everyone but I really like them, they dry quickly which is a must for a busy woman on the go. I will happily buy and use these again, hopefully i dont come across a bad lot.

So overall I like nearly love these polishes but dont buy on the fact they say no chip cause they do chip.

Tips: When painting nails, go over the edge of the nail plate a little bit, this prolongs the enamel and prevents it chipping so fast. use both base and top coat as the colours can stain the nail plate

Not Great

I picked one of these up on a whim, having had some of their other ones that I love and are my go to nail polishes. I found the consistency of the colour show to be too watery, having to build up layers to get a nice looking coverage, only to have it bubble. The handle on the bottle is quite small so was kind of hard to navigate the polish onto my nails. They do have some beautiful colours tho! Nice and cheap though if you're after a great brand at a cheap price.

great colours, but. . no chip??

I bought a couple of these because they were cheap and the colours were gorgeous. That's as good as it gets. The colour is not super strong, and I ended up doing a third colour coat to make it opaque. It also came out quite streaky. I found it chipped and peeled really easily, which doesn't bother me huuuugely because I like a new colour every day or two anyway, but I'd have been really annoyed if I'd paid more than $9 for them. They're good to have as cheapie options for the great colours, but don't expect wonders.

Tips: Use a non chip top coat. If you find it's still transparent and streaky after two coats, let it dry totally and apply a third before your top coat. I also recommend sealing the colour (painting the top coat under and over the tip of the nail) to help prevent the chipping and flaking.

Maybe she's born with it? Nah it's just maybelline

I have Sequins (a turqoise green with matching glitter) and Twilight Rays (black with gold micro glitter). Going on these two alone, I dont hold out much hope for the rest of the nail polishes. These look AMAAAAZING in the bottle, but mehhhh on your nails. They are both deceivingly transparent, you cant tell that from looking at the bottles, all you see it gorgeous colour. I dont have a turquoise polish I could use as a basecoat for the Sequins, but I ended up applying 2 coats and a top coat to seal. I also used a black base under the Twilight Rays polish and a clear top coat. They dont last long on their own. Does anyone have any good opaque colours they could recommend? I would give these a solid 4/10

Misleading.

I was super excited to use this as the colour is absolutely gorgeous (I have Twilight Rays which is a browny green with glitter). The consistency was absolutely rubbish. It is so thin and sheer I had to put three coats on and it still looked a little sheer.

The brush is fairly standard and it is easy to apply but it becomes an issue to apply when you have to layer multiple coats over one another (having to wait until they are completely dry so it doesn't turn into a muddy mess).

I found you need at least three coats to get the job done, which, in my opinion, is a massive let down and highly frustrating.

The packaging is cute and sleek. The colour of the polish in the bottle is absolutely beautiful and if the texture lived up to other nail polish brands then this would be a fast favourite of mine.

I am unsure if my experience was just due to this colour or perhaps I got a bad bottle, but just based on my experience I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and have actually passed by it when I have seen it on sale. - Despite being drawn to the colours in the bottle.

Not my favourite

This nail polish is not my favourite, but for the price it's ok. The polish is thin and can be applied in one stroke like it says, but I found it hard to apply in an even coat as it was very streaky. The polish is also very transparent and see through and you need at least 3 coats to get good coverage. I also found that this polish didn't last long before chipping, maybe 2 or 3 days, even with a top and base coat, so it's not very "chip free". My favourite is the clear because its nice and shiny and unlike the others ive tried lasts a decent amount of time. Personally I would prefer paying more for a more expensive nail polish, like OPI or Sally Hansen, to get a better result. The colour range is pretty good and hae some nice metallic shades, so if you need a particular colour for nail art or a one off occasion this can do the trick. The size of the bottle is decent , as if find OPi too big and you never use the whole bottle.

Tips: You need a good 2 or 3 coats, or even more, to get a nice even coating.
