MAC Lipstick Review

Pure heroine and heroine are my absolute faves when it comes to the MATTE range of MAC lipsticks. They are definitely long lasting, durable, and will never leave a stain on your wine glass or on your hubby ;) These lippys are certainly for those bold, retro, confident or urban women who love a pop of colour.

First if all these are the more pricier ones in my collection for the time being. I bought my first set four years ago. I had ruby woo, fixed on drama, diva, flat out fabulous which is an all time favorite and all fired up.

Nowadays I have about sixteen of them. I like them so much. Mostly have mattes and retro mattes plus one amplified. They dont last as long as I would like it to especially while eating and drinking but give me a decent five to six hours. The thing I love about them is that they have a huge range of colors. If you are buying online its better to see swatches online so you know what colors suit you.

The packaging is okay. It comes in a bullet tube and has MAC written on it and they smell nice. The only colors that are patchy are candy yumyum, relentlessly red and all fired up. Im about to hit pan on some of them.

They do make my lips dry but go on smooth and thats why I use it. Maybe the dryness is because of the matte formula and color. Or I got a dud. Nevertheless I will keep buying this if they introduce more colors that catch my eyes. An all time favorite.

This makes me so sad to write this review as I have tried to love these lipsticks that everyone has been raving about for years. These have been on my list for years but I couldn't justify paying $40 for a lipstick until I was given money for my 30th birthday. I purchased 4 matte lipsticks, Taupe, Velvet teddy, Stone and Whirl.

Taupe- A terracotta brown shade

Velvet teddy- Light brown nude

Stone- Medium grey and brown shade

Whirl- Rosy brown shade

All lipsticks are extremely pigmented, they are creamy and glide on so easily. With all 4 lipsticks you need to line your lips to prevent the lipstick from moving towards the edges of your lips. I find all 4 drying, especially Stone and Taupe which are more drying compared to Whirl and Velvet teddy, maybe because the shades are slightly darker?

The wear time of these is great if you dont touch anything with your lips, once I wore Taupe to Starbucks and ended up having Taupe smudged down the side of my mouth without noticing, I was so embarrassed when I saw this orangey brown smudge! I must've looked so silly. Ever since this embarrassing episode I rarely wear Taupe. Its hard because if you set these with setting powder it mattes them more and makes them dry out even faster. Velvet teddy and Whirl are less drying and can be worn without setting powder, I wear these 2 more than Taupe and Stone.

I wouldn't be repurchasing any more Mac matte lipsticks but I would love to try the other finishes.

I have found lipsticks half the price of Mac that do a better job, I am so sad that I dont love these lipsticks as much as everyone else does.

First of these are amazing! Not only do they last a long time, but they also so pigmented. I use Mac lipsticks in my freelance kit for clients, as I know they are 100% reliable.

First lasts a long time second sent dry my lips out and all the colours are so pretty and bold and can go with any makeup look

Amazing! I love Mac lipsticks! I have very sensitive lips and most lipsticks irritate and cause the skin on my lips to flake and peel only and hour into wearing them! This has never happened with Mac. I love Murr and Stone.
