The colour is great but...

I don't know if they've always been like this but I can't give this a good review at all. I managed to wear one for half an hour but couldn't bear to keep it on longer because of the scent. It's so synthetic I can't stomach it. I don't include all synthetic compounds here of course, since if it smelt like ambroxan I'd just go and buy the entire range. It might just be my nose but it smells like melted and partially burned plastic that makes me queasy.

For the sake of a review I tried it on while chewing gum which managed to stave off the smell and the colour was absolutely lovely! Very vibrant and very creamy. I'm not sure about staying power since I wasn't able to wear it for very long. Would not buy again.

Tips: Smell it before you buy it. My nose can't tolerate this stuff at all!

Apocalips

The great thing about this product is its range of shades and its smooth application. It moisturises your lips to leave a lovely slight glossy look, without being in-your-face. The only problem I have is that the lacquer is a little thin, meaning it might take a couple applications or another product to mix with for the lip lacquer to fully cover your lips.

Stunning colours

I absolutely love the colours of this range. They're very pigmented but unfortunately doesn't last really long. I find the colour bleeds a wee tony bit as well. Application is super easy and these glide on really well. You do get quite a bit of product for what you pay which is good and the packaging is quite cute. The only con in my opinion is the lack of staying power.

Lips love

Going by the lipstick I've tried, These lipsticks are really great! They are lovely and moisturising, glide on smoothly and don't feel sticky. They don't set dry like some other brands I've tried but they have a good colour pay off and they're staying power is reasonably good for a lipstick that feels so moisturising on my pout. It's a cross between a lipstick and a gloss. More glossy, I'd say though. I've got the shade Celestial and it's a perfect shade of pink for everyday wear. I like to wear it daily for a pop of colour. The applicator is easy to use and applies the product well. The packaging is pretty great. It has quite a decent amount of product inside of it and I like how half of it is see through so you can see the colour of the lipstick through the tube. I purchased Celestial for about $10 from Farmers in a sale they had going a wee while ago which I'll most likely be purchasing again. The range of shades available is great with pretty colours to choose from.

Tips: Just take care when applying as the applicator can get quite abit of product on the tip. :) A lip liner would make for a better finish.

Favourite Rimmel Lip products

I have 7 of these Rimmel Apocalips. I love them so much.

First of all, I love the name. It's clever and I don't know why it is called Show Off in the US. Anyway, these are probably the only lip lacquers I like. They are so pigmented and creamy. I love the finish too.

It doesn't last as long on the lips compared to a normal lipstick but I didn't expect it would. I love it for its pigmentation.

My favourite shade is Apocaliptic which is a bright pink shade and Big Bang for a true red. The darker the shades, the more pigmented they are and better. I find the lighter, more natural shades average compared to the bright pinks and red.

Tips: Buy it on sale on Asos.

Amazing colour but just doesn't last.

I'd heard vague murmurs about these, and picked one up in a Farmers Clearance for about $5.

The shade I have is 300: Out of This World. This is a really unique, pretty, soft rose pink with a metallic sheen (much nicer on the lips than it sounds) and a glossy finish.

The tube is pretty as well, with a gradient in the part that holds the product, that starts out the colour of the lippy and finishes in a black, then a black, jewel-cut plastic screw top housing a standard angled applicator wand which is easy and pleasant enough to use.

At 5.5 ml, the product is a reasonable size for the price - a little goes a long way on the lips.

I love the way this looks and feels on my lips. Despite the metallicy finish it feels smooth and doesn't taste or smell unpleasant. (Pretty much a 'normal' lippy smell/taste). The light hits it beautifully and it looks really effective and pretty.

Where I fall out of love with it is that it just doesn't last. I can put this on and drive to the shops, and by the time I'm there it's not really that evident any more. By the time you eat, drink etc...forget about it. There is virtually no stain component as well, meaning that once it's gone, it's like you hadn't bothered.

This is a 'for the effect' lippy for me, and I'll continue to use it, but won't be repurchasing due to the issues with lack of staying power. Disappointing when it's so pretty, and I hope Rimmel are able to come up with a formula that addresses this in future as I do adore the effect :)

Rimmel Apocalips

I have seen numerous posts of Rimmel on social media mainly instagram. I had to give these a try . On two seperate occasions I went to purchase these two liquid lip sticks. My first buy was from Kmart it was on special for $9. The other Matte lipstick from farmers for $10. With all the pictures and selfies I had seen wearing this I knew I had to try these.

These liquid lipsticks come in these tubes. I really like this jewelled designed lid. The lip applicator is slanted on both the matte and origional. The colours I got was Atomic Rose Matte (Peachy Colour) and Stella (berry pink) Origional. Atomic rose has a chemical smell and Stella has a slightly sweet scent.

When I apply these both of them have very different textures. The Atomic Rose Matte dries but still has some liquid remaining. Stella origional is like a gloss. It holds its liquid look. They do come off with eating and drinking. I was happy with how they look. But , I don't think the Matte lip one is matte enough. Overall they do a good job of colouring lips. Very fortunate to get a bargain at the time.

Not the best

I bought 2 of these when they were on sale in Farmers. I was really excited because their colour range is so pretty and I've become kind of addicted to liquid lipsticks. I ended up getting "303 Apocaliptic" and "307 Meteoric Matte".

Apocaliptic is a beautiful bright fuchsia pink. I'm such a sucker for fuchsia lippies so I immediately fell in love with this. It's not super neon, but it is bright. Meteoric Matte is more vampy, but not too dark. So kind of like a maroon fuchsia? I feel like the colour is very similar to 60 in Rimmel's Kate Moss Lasting Lipstick. It's just that Meteoric is the liquid version.

Although the colours are really nice, their lasting power is not great at all. Easily transferable. I remember drinking a can of fanta and it's like I'd just made out with it because of all the product that transferred. I'm actually quite disappointed with the result. Definitely would not buy it again unless they improve on their lasting power because the colours really are fantastic.

Tips: Always use lip liner under, and bring it along with you if you're using it because you definitely need to reapply especially after eating.

Not the best but not the worst

I ought the bright pink gloss lacquer on sale at Kmart for $5 (yep I am a bargain hunter for sure!) It gives great covereage and the colour is vibrant but WARNING: If you are not a superwoman make up applier (like me) be very carefull not to get this on your face! It stains your skin - due to the bright colour.

Tips: Be vry carefull when applying as it does stain skin - also maybe wear your hair up to avoid it going onto your mouth - the texture is VERY sticky

Reviewing the Matte edition of Apocaliips

I purchased 2 of these new Matte editions of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in the shades: Meterotic Matte and Burning Lava. Having seen so many people rave about how good these were, and at the point of sale they were in Farmers for $10 each I grabbed a couple to see if the fuss was worth it.

The design of these lip lacquer is rather cute with the top half and lid of the container being a black colour that fades into the colour of the lip product on the inside as it goes down towards the bottom. The lid is quite firmly secured so it won't wriggle free in your bag. Inside the applicator is ok, nothing flash but it gets the product from the tube and onto your lips.

Formula wise for a Matte lipstick this is far too liquid, it doesn't really set either but creates more of a muted gloss effect to your lips. Not as slippery as a gloss or sticky but no where near what I would call a liquid lipstick matte. It applies nice and even with the colour being rather intense that one coat gets a nice even coverage. After applying I left my lips slightly apart like any other liquid lipstick that dries to a matte but after a good 2-3 minutes it still wasn't set on my lips, and it never did with it smudge almost immediately as I placed my tea cup to my lips. So very unimpressed but I tried the other colour in hopes that it would fair better, but nope still had the same effect. If you are looking for a matte lipstick in comparison to other liquid lipsticks that dry to a non moving matte lip then this is not what you want.

Colours: Meteoric Matte - A deep pink, magenta shade Burning Lava - An orange shade of red
