Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick

I have Red Rivival, it is very beautiful colour. I brought this when I went crazy buying lots of red lippys trying to find the right red and this is definitely one of my top reds. It is a very smooth texture and easy application (I keep a wipe on hand to fix it up if i go over my lip line).

I did find that it leaked a bit in my lip cracks but I have recently found out that that is my fault due to not going through proper lipstick application (lip exfoliation and lip liner is meant to help). This colour looks good on most people, I have dark hair and pale skin and it suits. I brought this thinking it would be darker than it appeared on, the little colour swatch on the packaging is a bit off. The lipstick tube is very pretty and different. I got this on sale, and I personally think the RRP is a bit too much.

I did not find it lasted all day - more like 3 hours before it started to leak but this could be because I had been using it wrong by not doing the recommended steps of exfoliation and lip liner. The lipstick smells nicer than others do but I do not personally love the smell.

Tips: Follow the recommended steps when applying lipstick.

Drugstore Lippy

These are pretty good lipsticks for the drugstore / mass retail arena. The color choices are excellent as there are so many and what's good is there are a number of shades with a satin or creme finish as I do not like glitter or shimmer. The formula is smooth and not drying. I could do without the smell, which smells exactly like L'OREAL,which in turn, owns Maybelline so no surprise there. The staying power isn't that great but apply, blot, and apply and that seems to increase wear time.

Sensational Colours!

I picked up a couple of Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks this weekend after seeing the awesome 2 for 1 special Maybelline had on at Farmers. This was the first time I had tried a Maybelline lipstick and I am so glad I did, the quality beyond met my expectations.

Firstly, the colour selection of Maybelline's Colour Sensational Lipsticks is really amazing. There are so many options, and they're grouped in different types which makes it easier to choose if you're looking for something specific - Matts, Reds, Pinks and now Buffs and Vivids. I have an amazing cherry red, aptly named Very Cherry, and the stunning Vivids colour Hot Plum. It was hard pulling myself away with just two, I may have to be back next payday!

The packaging itself is very cute. The coloured plastic caps help distinguish at a glance what lipstick type it is, bright red for the Vivid and a dark red for the cherry lipstick, and they have stickers on the base that match the lipstick shade. This comes in really handy when you have more than a few lippys and you're in a bit of a rush!

The formula itself is really pigmented, creamy and quite moisturising, which will be great in cooler months. I didn't find it drying at all and I have quite dry lips. It's also lightly scented, soft and sweet which I guess is the "nourishing honey nectar".

You can apply these lippies straight to the lip in a quick swipe and they'll look great, however for longer-lasting wear I first exfoliated my lips, lined them with a nude liner, and then applied the colour straight from the bullet. The shape meant that good application was easy without a brush. I then blotted and reapplied. The finish was nice, not too matt or shiny so perfect for day or night. I found that the colour lasted pretty well, a few hours of colour without reapplying. It does transfer quite a bit, I ended up with the usual lovely lipstick marks around my coffee (but that's how people know it's mine!). Definately worth a touch-up after eating.

I love the Colour Sensational Lipsticks and can't wait to repurchase, stellar buy!

Tips: With colours like these, you should definately ensure your lips are in good condition before applying as otherwise they will highlight any chapped skin. Exfolliate first remove dead skin and give your lippy a smooth surface to adhere to!

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick

This product was on sale and their weren't any testers available, so on a whim I decided to buy the product anyway based on the colour shown on the packet. When I took the product out of the packaging, it was a completely different colour to what was advertised. The lipstick itself is quite good as it leaves your lips feeling soft and doesn't dry them out like other lipsticks I have tried, but as this isn't a long lasting lipstick you do have to keep reapplying it often.

Tips: Use a tester when selecting a colour, don't go off the shade shown on the packet

Pink Please

The lipstick in the shade 025 Pink Please, honestly is one of my favorites. I purchased this lipstick from one of those massive importers clearance sales a while ago randomly. I just thought it was a nice nudie pink. For the last year and a half, it has been my most reached for lip pie, as I don't wear very bright and bold colours all the time, I like to tone it down, and this one matches me perfectly. The consistency of it is very creamy, and it doesn't excentuate the lines or any dryness on your lips. The shade is so beautiful that it suits me (fair skin tone) one of my best friends who has a tan/olive skin tone, and another one of our friends who has a darker skin tone. The only thing that sucks is I can not find this particular shade in any department stores or pharmacies :(, and one of my friends is obsessed with this shade aswell she practically eating it! The colour range is beautiful and the consistency is very nice.

Tips: Swatch them first to see what shades will suit you

What a shock!

My colour was Petal Rebel and it was a bit of a shock when I opened the packet. Certainly not a colour I would have picked off the shelf. Here was this vivid bright pink colour looking back at me. Never the less I tried it and was surprised by the effect. Once on the colour was actually quite subtle. I felt comfortable wearing the colour in public. Normally my lips peel when I wear lipstick, but this has not happened. It's creamy and goes on easily. Whilst it looks quite bold in the tube, it's nothing like that once on. To maintain the colour I need to keep applying this through out the day, otherwise you wouldn't know that i actually had it on.

Tips: Step outside your comfort zone and try the bold looking lipsticks, they may not be quite what you thought once you have them on.

Lovely scent, lovely colour

I received one of these as a gift and was a bit thrown. I have the Mango Diamonds no. 445. It has a lovely fruity scent which I was rather impressed with. Not being partial to orange, I was wondering how it would look on me, as it really is a bright colour. Instead, when you apply it, it is much lighter and not nearly as intense as you would expect. So it’s pretty much a wear anywhere, anytime shade. It does contain shine pigments to add some sparkle, so this is not a matt lipstick at all. My verdict - I’ve decided to rethink orange!

Tips: The colour can be deceptive, so if you can try before you buy, so much the better

Not impressed

I have this in the bold matte range. The colour is matte one, and this colour is very light. It comes off lighter than the colour of the tube. I thought this colour would be a nice coral pinky red, one that would be perfect for wearing in summer. However, this colour is more of a light hot pink that came off lighter on my lips. Because I have more olive toned skin its not really a suitable shade for me.

One thing I didn't like about this product was how this lipstick really bought out the cracks and dryness in my lips. You therefore need to make sure you exfoliate and apply lots of lip balm beforehand. Even when I apply lip balm and exfoliate prior to apply this lipstick I still find it really drying. My lips start to dry out quite quickly. I guess that's the downside to a matte lipstick though.

The staying power also isn't that great with this lipstick, and I would also recommend wearing a lip liner underneath so that the colour lasts longer. For a matte lipstick I was expecting it to last at least 4 hours.

The lipstick comes in a rectangular matte finish casing, that I find to be a bit more bulky and bigger than my other lipsticks than I'm used to. I do however like the matte red casing over the lipstick tube.

Overall, am disappointed with this product and would not purchase it again.

Tips: use lip balm underneath as the lipstick is quite drying.

Awful!

I purchased one of these last week, and straight away hated it! it acts as more of a glossy lip balm! no pigment and fades away! sinks into lines and transfers like crazy! overpriced as well!

155 Party Pink

I'm not really impressed with the shade, its name is Party Pink but I find it more suitable with day time events as the tone is more purple than pink Pros: - It's matte and smooth. - the shade is suitable with different occasions. - The scent is really cute (some find it like bubble gum but I can say it's not that strong. It's sweet and cute)

Con: -It does not stay really long, I try applying some powder between two layers but that does not really help much - The shade may not suit darker skin
