Maybelline Color Sensational Color Elixir Lipstick Review

When i was graduating university last year, i needed a product that would make my lips pop, and give me something easy to maintain. At that time, i wasn't ready for intense lipsticks (or any lipsticks) and this seemed like the perfect half way point.

These 'lipsticks' come in a wee rectangle container. The bottom half is plastic, with the inner tube being curved in shape, so the product forms a bullet shape inside the container, and since the container is plastic and see-through, you can see that. The lid in plastic, and has a metallic finish. In all honestly, the packaging feels super cheap.

This product used a doe foot for application. I find this is the perfect way to apply the product because of its consistency. Also, the doe foot does provide a reasonably precise application.

Now to the product itself. Its nice. Its the forumla of a thick gloss, and its quite pigmented which is amazing. When you apply it, it does feel sticky, but after a few minutes that goes away (although a tiny bit of stickness remains). This product is long wearing. It lasts at least 3 hours, and i find it wears really well, and when it does start to fade, it fades evenly. However, this is not a lipstick. If anything, it is just a really pigmented gloss.

I have two colours (i don't have the names on me right now), one is a bright pink, and it does not suit me at all. The other is a nude colour, and i love the colour. However, when i finish it, i won't be repurchasing because i would rather just buy a lip gloss for half the price that does the exact same thing.

I bought this lipgloss at a makeup sale because I was never going to $26 for a lipstick when thats close to the price of a high end lipstick. I paid $5 for the gloss and it was a great bargain.

Packaging - This lipgloss is sleek and sharp in its shiny sliver tube and eventhough its housed in plastic it does not look tacky. I'm always won over by packaging and this lipgloss doesnt disappoint.

Is it gloss is a lipstick? Well from my opening lines I've been calling it a gloss so that should make my feelings clear. I have the 090 Rose Redefined which a dusky, mauvy pink and my perfect kind of pink. Its applies like a gloss but its super pigmented and thick. It grabs onto your lips like a liquid lipstick would and its not as translucent as lipgloss.

This gloss is super shiny like youve applied diamonds to your lips and its just beautiful to wear for any time of the day. I really appreciate that its not sticky at all and making it a pleasure to have ultra shiny lips. The disappointing thing is that it has no staying power and once you've eaten and drank its gone from your lips.

The colour elixir is nowhere close to being a lipstick but I think its one of the best lipglosses I've ever used. If I can keep paying $5 for this gloss I will keep it in my makeup collection.

Great colour selection and pigmentation can be worn alone or over a lipstick when lightly applied. Smells amazing and the dofer applicator makes for easy application its also the perfect travel size for everyday usage.

It started with a sample product and it ended (?) with me having 7 colors and even got all of my best friends one. What can I say? I just like the way it is a gloss but also a lipstick and the way it makes my lips feel... Rose redefined and petal blush are my favs.

I love the color i got an its smell is so yummy . i like the applicator spongy wand thing its easy to apply an you never use to much , i found the formula thick an glossy i really love the one i have an want more. i found it lasted long an didnt stain my lips. i used a lip primer an i found it made the color change an went tacky an sticky .

I picked up this product in Petal Plush, and find that it's not exactly what I had wanted.

Although I've seen it applied before, I didn't expect it to be quite so sticky. It was very silky, but I found that I didn't like the feeling on my lips.

I guess I was expecting it to feel more like a lipstick than a gloss - since it is called a lipstick and not a gloss - so I was disappointed with that.

I probably won't pick it up again, and definitely not for the price I paid for it.

I had seen Shaanxo's youtube video about these elixir's on her channel, and thought they looked absolutely amazing! The next time I seen them, I picked it up in the shade 105- Polished Petal which I can't seem to find anywhere now.. I was so excited to give it a try, as it was a nude colour, and I didn't want to go for one of the bright colours straight away. The application wand is abit different, but I found it useful and easy to use. The application feels very sticky, even with pumping it a few times. I was abit dissapointed that the colour didn't turn out as good as I had thought, but maybe I got a colour that matches my lips abit too closely. Overall, I would repurchase in any other colour, might try one of the brighter ones. I would be willing to give it a go, just didn't like how it made my lips feel sticky after applying.

I have this in the shade make me pink (which appears to now be a discontinued shade). I was hoping this shade would be a 'my lips but better' shade, but unfortunately it is too shimmery and glossy, so comes across as a little 80's looking, on me at least. It is a very glossy, quite sticky application. As far as a gloss type product the packaging is quite innovative, with the shade of a lipstick, which then unscrews with a gloss applicator. This would make storage a lot easier being that it will store in a lipstick holder. I am not huge on glossy formula's, so would probably not use this again.

Lipglosses have never been my thing. I would see them and cringe while I shop in the beauty section. So I was very hesitant to purchase these. While at a store I saw one for $7 in the shade Vision in Violet as it is a beautiful colour and I don't own any purple lip colours.

Firstly, the packaging is beautiful to look at and of great quality wish to me is a must have with any makeup. At firstglance the applicatormay put you off but I love the shape it has and the way it applys. you can get right into the corners and it doesn't end up everywhere. I pumped the applicator a few times and applied to my lips, making sure to rub it in quite firmly. If you don't I find it sits on your lips and it wears off a lot faster.

So did I like it? The colour payoff was incredible. For a gloss I did not expect much and was overwhelmed by the pigment that it could produce. The formula was nourishing and very comfortable to wear. The wear was about the same as most of my lipsticks, if not lasting abit longer!

Am I sold? Well, I have just over half the collection now, so to al those that would have been in my boat at the start, it is definitely worth trying them.

So, I own Mauve Mystique and Mandarin Rapture. I love the formula of these lipglosses! They don't feel sticky at all, but instead are rich and provide a high shine and pigment to lust after. Depending on how I feel, I sometimes wear one coat, or two. They are a versatile lippy and the colours are unique and there is one for every taste- bold or subtle. The lipgloss itself smells really nice and the applicator is a good shape to apply with. The only downside is that the wand is really short- but that's certainly not enough to put me off them! I luuuurve Color Elixir! I don't wear them everyday, more so on special occasions or going out. But if you're after a sexy pop of colour and an irresistible shine, look no further!
