Celestial Coral

This is one of those products that I want to love, but in reality I don't reach for that often.

The packaging is super cute and classy (do those two words go together? They do now, haha!), in my opinion. I love that you can see the actual colour of the gloss, and the general design of the 'bullet' is very sleek and looks more expensive than your average drugstore lip product.

The wand has a little angled fuzzy diamond shaped doe-foot applicator, which I really like. It's easy to apply evenly, and it's not too big, so doesn't pick up too much product.

I have this in the shade '010 Celestial Coral'. The name is bit weird in my opinion, as this really isn't a coral shade at all, rather, a fairly warm brightish pink. It applies fairly opaquely, and true to colour. It definitely doesn't have the opacity of a lipstick, but it is highly pigmented for a gloss. Because the colour applies evenly, it's easy to sheer out without it looking patchy. It is definitely shiny, which again makes it more like a lipgloss than a lipstick.

It doesn't feel super sticky, and it is quite comfortable to wear. I do find that the stickiness increases slightly after a while, but nothing too major (just kind of weird that it doesn't happen straight away). If I'm wearing my hair out, I don't usually wear this as it is just sticky enough to attract hair... which is always annoying.

One thing that I do really like is the fact that this is actually quite moisturising. I can wear this without a lip balm and my lips feel really comfortable, which rarely happens with any type of lip product. I wouldn't say that the moisturising effect lasts particularly once this has worn off, but it definitely doesn't dry my lips out.

This generally lasts for a few hours before wearing off. With this particular shade, it often leaves a slight stain if I just wear it by itself which lasts longer.

However, the reason I'm not a big fan of this is the scent and taste. It has a very weird, slighly sweet perfumey scent, which is fairly strong. I can live with it, as it's not really unpleasant, but unfortunately it tastes exactly like it smells. Perfume isn't exactly my favourite flavour, but when it's on my lips it's hard to avoid! That really puts me off using it, because if I eat or drink with it on, I can taste it.

So overall, I do like this product, but due to the scent/taste I don't use it very often, and I won't be purchasing other shades.

Tips: This is a great gloss to layer over lipsticks/lip pencils, as it's pigmented enough to change the colour slightly and make a unique shade! I really like to pair it with a purple/berry lip pencil, as it creates a gorgeous fuschia colour. xx

Not quite a lipstick, not a gloss

I am not a gloss fan - I hate stickyness, not a fan of shiny goopy lips but this is a gorgeous product - similar to the only glosses I can tolerate (Avon Glazewear) the same siliconey smooth texture which has opacity and shine but stays where you want it - I have nude illusion - a gorgeous very neutral nude shade looks good on me even without a liner for a casual day lip. I still have to wear my hair up with this product as I live in a windy climate but I really enjoy its mostly non stick texture - this is almost like a vinyl finish it sort of sets and stays put for a good couple of hours unlike any other gloss/liquid lipstick I have tried before. Also love the slightly floral slightly vanilla scent/flavour. Feels so nice on and isn't drying at all!

Tips: Don't be put off by the fact that this is a gloss-like product it's like nothing I have tried before in terms of texture.

095 - Blush Essence

I bought this originally because of the packaging. Beautiful clear packaging with what looks like a lipstick bullet inside holding the colour. The applicator is just a usual doe foot applicator but it is quite fat. I find it quite hard to get a precise line with this. Could be a problem with the more brighter colours. It has a lovely vanilla-y scent to it. Found it applied very smoothly. Didn't settle in to my fine lines around my mouth. Not a sticky application. Glossy shine. The colour Blush Essence is a lovely rose-y pink shade with a slight shimmer that isn't particularly noticeable. The lasting power of this isn't very impressive. I found it took 3 applications to make it last the day (especially after eating or drinking). For that reason I would be more likely to reach towards a lip stain than this on a daily basis. But in its defence it is very moisturising.

Tips: This is not a lipstick - more of a lovely gloss.

Maybelline Fuchsia Elixir Lipstick

I received this as a gift in the fuchsia colour. First off, the colour is great! It's the perfect bright pink without being too pale and barbie-like. The colour is very true to colour. Also, it goes on really solid which is not what I expected as usually lipglosses are relatively transparent. It pretty much ended up looking like a lipstick with lipgloss over top!

It comes with a lipgloss type applicator but I found it quite hard to apply because of the shape. The applicator was quite big and wide which made it hard to get a nice line which is important with this bold colour. It did go on really evenly though and wasn't all sticky.

I found it really lightweight to wear, and also very moisturising. I was really surprised at how smooth it was on I haven't felt anything like it before!

However it was much too glossy for me! I prefer creme-sheen or matte lipsticks. If you love gloss though, I think it would be great because it is not sticky at all and just feels like you are wearing a normal lipstick.

Tips: This colour is lovely and I would definitely recommend if you like a glossy finish but still with the bold colour :)

I LOVE these!

These are my favourite lip product of the moment. I have three shades; Mystic Mauve, Raspberry Rhapsody and Blush Essence and I am definitely going to purchase more.

First thing I love about these is the packaging! They could easily be mistaken for a lipstick, as the gloss is contained in a clear lipstick bullet, so damn cute. They look very classy and the shiny silver lid looks amazing. I have these proudly displayed with my higher end lippys in a lipstick holder on the top of my makeup desk as they looks beautiful.

All of the shades I have are very flattering on my pale cool tone skin and all are very natural (not in your face) looking (which is great for everyday wear). The texture of these is amazing, so silky smooth I can't describe it and I instantly feel in love with them from the first swipe. They aren't sticky which is great but very smooth and comfortable on the lips. The colours have great pigmentation and they smell amazing! Like a delicious floral vanilla candle!

I find they last a decent amount of time for a gloss type product too and for a non sticky gloss they do very well (the stickiness of a gloss is usually what makes it long wearing). The applicator is perfectly shaped for precise application and they really do live up to the claims made about them. I often have dry lips and these are a far more hydrating option which still add decent colour and a beautiful shine. I love how lightweight and comfortable these are.

I highly recommend these and will be repurchasing, no doubt about it. They aren't the cheapest thing around (drugstore prices are getting more ridiculous each second I swear!) but I got mine on sale online and so they were very reasonably priced.

Tips: I you are after a comfortable easy to wear glossy lip colour check these out!

Maybelline Colour Elixir

I love this product. I currently have two of these in "petal plush" and "mauve mystique".

The packaging is really cool, its a square shaped plastic tube that is clear and shows the actual colour of the product inside. The outline of the product in the tube looks like the tip of a lipstick.

The brush is a form of a doe foot applicator and applies the product really nicely and evenly.

The products itself is a gloss with high pigmentation comparable to a lipstick but is also has the moisture of a lip balm.

The lasting power of these is better than any other gloss type product I have tried and they aren't sticky so I love wearing them.

Definitely will repurchase more of these in the future

Tips: Put this on for a moisturising pop of colour that will complete any look

Nice but Expensive

I really liked the colours in this range and the boldness of the colour. It had a nice smooth gloss and a thickish texture to help boost the colour. I also liked the clear packaging so I knew how much I had left and could see the true colour from the get go. Wasn't too excited about tthe applicator brush however.

Not my usual choice but amazing

I received this as a Christmas gift from a friend this year in the shade 020 Signature Scarlet. I'm not usually one for a shiny lipgloss but was pleasantly surprised that I loved this product.

It smells amazing for one, a sweet scent. It was also very pigmented which I didn't expect from a more lipgloss kinda product. It isn't too sticky and goes on nicely.

You can use it with or without a lip liner or lipstick underneath. I find that adding a darker red shade can really make this colour pop or turn it into a night time shade.

The tube it comes in is adorable. The bottom looks like a lipstick wand, but when you open it, you find it has a wee spade shaped fuzzy applicator which really helps it glide on smoothly.

I really have no complaints about this product and will definitely be trying out other shades from the range.

Tips: I would recommend using a lip brush to apply this colour neatly around the edges of your mouth for a smooth finish.

Nice, non-sticky gloss

I have this in Petal Plush. It's a lovely sheer light pink. On its own it gives my lips a touch of baby pink gloss, but it also works lovely over a lipstick. It feels very smooth on my lips, not at all sticky which is great.

The packaging is cute and compact. I'm not a fan of the price though.... It's a lipgloss.... Not super long lasting at all so while it's nice, I can't justify the price. I would love to try some of the more pigmented colours though, Petal Plush, while nice, doesn't rock my world!

Maybelline Color Elixir

I was late to the party with this. I've watched quite a few YouTube clips with the girls saying how wonderful these are. I picked up two with the 2 for 1 special at Farmers & Life Pharmacies recently. I chose Raspberry Rhapsody & Mauve Mystique. I got home and tried them & was so impressed. They have a lovely texture, you don't feel like there is anything on your lips, they're very moisturising and best of all, they're not sticky. I went back the next day and grabbed Caramel Infused and Signature Scarlet. I love the Caramel Infused - it's a very natural & flattering colour. I like the packaging - very similar to Dior. The applicator is good too, I like the fine point so I can get a decent outline especially around the cupid's bow.

I'm glad the 2 for 1 special is over - otherwise there would've been two more making their way home with me! Two lip glosses for $20 is a bargain.
