Full fuchia Amplified

Okay so I thought I would buy my first mac lippy!! I was so excited to get it in the mail I was jumping for joy!! literally,,, So anyway I had to try it straight away I liked that it was a pigmented lipstick BUT! yes I know but!! it didn't last long at all I tested it out throughout the whole 30mins I had it on for I checked in the mirror and it looked terrible! I reapplied and thought hmm.. maybe it would at least last an hour or so instead of looking like it had been smeared all over my lips. Would not be buying this lipstick again was definitely disappointed in the full fuchsia. I will be buying another one but haven't decided which one yet!

MAC Ruby Woo

I love the colour of this lipstick and wanted to use it because of it's matte nature. However, due to the matte finish this lipstick drys out your lips and ALWAYS cakes/crumbles at the corners of my mouth. Not great for extended periods of wear.

Tips: To add a little moisture, apply a lipbalm before the colour.

Loads of fab colours

I love all the colour varieties in the MAC lipstick range! In saying that though I will not be buying them anymore. I think for the price they are just not worth it, I usually do not mind paying a lot of money for MAC products as the quality makes it worth it, but the lipsticks are not! They tend to stain my lips and dry out and leave little peeling bits every time I use them! I exfoliate my lips and also use lip balms so they are always moisturised but these lipsticks seem to just dry them out. I know alot of people who use them and love them so maybe they are just not for me which is a shame because I really do love the colours!

Tips: Make sure you try them on before you purchase as they are not right for ll lips!

Disappointment in a tube

This makes me so sad to write this review as I have tried to love these lipsticks that everyone has been raving about for years. These have been on my list for years but I couldn't justify paying $40 for a lipstick until I was given money for my 30th birthday. I purchased 4 matte lipsticks, Taupe, Velvet teddy, Stone and Whirl.

Taupe- A terracotta brown shade

Velvet teddy- Light brown nude

Stone- Medium grey and brown shade

Whirl- Rosy brown shade

All lipsticks are extremely pigmented, they are creamy and glide on so easily. With all 4 lipsticks you need to line your lips to prevent the lipstick from moving towards the edges of your lips. I find all 4 drying, especially Stone and Taupe which are more drying compared to Whirl and Velvet teddy, maybe because the shades are slightly darker?

The wear time of these is great if you dont touch anything with your lips, once I wore Taupe to Starbucks and ended up having Taupe smudged down the side of my mouth without noticing, I was so embarrassed when I saw this orangey brown smudge! I must've looked so silly. Ever since this embarrassing episode I rarely wear Taupe. Its hard because if you set these with setting powder it mattes them more and makes them dry out even faster. Velvet teddy and Whirl are less drying and can be worn without setting powder, I wear these 2 more than Taupe and Stone.

I wouldn't be repurchasing any more Mac matte lipsticks but I would love to try the other finishes.

I have found lipsticks half the price of Mac that do a better job, I am so sad that I dont love these lipsticks as much as everyone else does.

Dries my lips real quick

I tend to have dry cracking lips in general and apply enough lip balm before applying any lipstick. Tried MAC lipstick in Ruby red shade as it promised to be moisturizing. But it turned out to be really drying even when I applied a big load of lip balm before applying the lipstick. My lips started cracking and bleeding that I eventually stopped using it. Wouldn't buy it again for sure.

Tips: Would not recommend this for people with dry lips

Slightly overhyped

I recently got this is cremesheen "japanese maple" after hearing so much hype about the MAC brand.

I found the packaging to be too "tamponesque" and very plain. The lids does stay on well though.

Application - very easy. Glides on nice and smoothly. Even with a nude I use a liner and it was very easy to blend the liner into the lipstick. Its quite hydrating so that's a bonus if you suffer from dry lips. It's quite creamy and I find that makes it easier to apply.

I didn't find it be very long lasting at all. I apply it and as soon as I have a drink or something to eat it's gone. That might be because I purchased a cremesheen rather than a more opaque shade - Not sure as this is the first MAC lipstick I have purchased.

Nice vanilla type taste as most of the other ladies have mentioned but I don't feel it lives up to its $40 hype. I'm really undecided if I will try another shade but will mull over that decision for a little while.

No more matte for me

My first ever MAC product and lipstick is a major let down for me. I have Runway Hit A53 in matte finish and I do not like it. I like the packaging as it is super sleek, simple and elegant, however, when it comes to the actual lipstick I'm quite disappointed. Firstly, I've always wanted a matte finish, but I find that this is just so drying! Even though my lips will be soft and supple after wearing lip balm to sleep, this lipstick just dries out my lips in about 20 minutes. Also, I picked up this colour as I had swatched it on my hand and really liked it, but it just doesn't look good on my lips. The matte finish is definitely long-lasting though, and does not transfer easily. It lasts through hours of wear, but I just can't stand the dryness of it. I do like the vanilla scent though, but depending on my mood, it can be quite overwhelming. I feel that overall, MAC lipsticks are quite overhyped, though I'm not sure if that's just due to my first one being such a let down.

I would be keen in trying other finishes and shades, though for $40 per lipstick, I feel that I'd try some cheaper brands first because I just can't afford that on my student budget.

Slightly overrated

Its hard not to get caught up wanting to have a brand that everyone seems to talk about, so when I went overseas last year one of my goals was to pop my Mac cherry at duty free (as my current city didnt stock mac cosmetics) I didnt have much time on this particular day so ended up with only enough time to grab some lippies and lip liners, I ended up purchasing: - Tropic Tonic (matte - coral) - D for Danger (matte - red) - Faux (satin -pinky nude)

First of all I will say the packaging Im not overly fond of (reminds me of a tampon - sorry!) and its difficult to see which colour is what when you are in a hurry.

I have barely made a dent in Tropic Tonic and D for Danger, yet the Faux I've nearly panned, and I will be so sad when I have none left! It seems like Mac Matte lipsticks just aren't for me but Mac satin is.

With the mattes I dislike how they apply (they seem to drag the lip) and they are just really dry in texture to apply, even when prepped properly the lip colour they just don't last or wear evenly, then leaves my lips super dry. I wouldn't wear these on a night out due to there lack of longevity either, and Id always be wondering how my lippy looks. I have been trying to wear them more just to make a dent in them and in hope they will grow on me.

Now the Faux on the other hand is my absolute favourite everyday 'nude' lippy. It glides on easily, wears evenly and doesn't leave my lips feeling too dry after wearing it all day. I still have to keep applying frequently to keep the colour up but its not as time consuming to apply which I like.

Now, had I researched a bit better in what colours I wanted prior to purchasing I may not have been so disappointed, also had the sales assistant been more knowledgeable I may have scored 3 I really loved. Would I purchase Mac lippies again, yeah I would (at DF prices not RRP) now Im more clued up what works for me. I've been left a little disappointed in the much talked about brand and Im no longer as eager to try any other products. Hopefully my next experience at a Mac counter I have the time and a more knowledgeable assistant to help me.

Tips: Be sure to look at the finish of the lipstick you are buying, not just the colour.

MAC Lipstick

I recently got a MAC lipstick in the shade of Brave, a neutral pinkish colour. The formulation is Satin, which i thought would translate to moisturising. Alas, no. The colour is nice, i like the packaging, but the lipstick itself is so dry! When i wear this, my lips feel as if all of the moisture in them is being drawn out. Which results in my lips looking dry and crusty. Euch! This is the only lipstick that has had this effect, i wear Revlon, Estee Lauder and L'Oreal usually. Would not repurchase.

Still unsure

I recently got a MAC lipstick through the back to MAC program (exchanging 6 empty containers for a freebie) after wanting one for ages and not wanting to spend that much on a lipstick. I went with Lady Danger and as much as I love the colour I can't wear this without getting it EVERYWHERE!!! Maybe it's just because I'm not used to wearing lipstick n=but everytime I wear this it ends up smeared across my face or on my clothes and this colour is BRIGHT. I will persist with it though as like I said I love the colour. Hopefully I can just learn to be a more careful lipstick wearer haha
