Girl about town love

A classic, I love this colour! It has a nice moisturizing but not greasy texture, the perfect pigmentation keeps you looking fresh and fab for hours.

Tips: Always use a lip liner, I love blending colours mac blends super nicely, such a great brand to play with.

LOVE LOVE LOVE MAC!

I love Mac lipsticks and have been using them for years! From the sleek packaging to the smell they are iconic and a must in my collection. I always buy the Christmas editions to collect. My only bad point is that for my skin tone the nudes are too dark or else some just look like concealer on my lips, I want a pinky nude which I have found but in a limited :(

Tips: Lip liner! I always line makes the lipstick stay on soooo much longer. I find with mac lipsticks they are so creamy the formula is very forgiving for what colour liner you use.

Also I love back 2 Mac, a free lipstick or eyeshadow for returning any 6 empty plastic packaging!

Great idea MAC cosmetics had with the back 2 Mac. Wonderful that the containers don't end up in landfill

Love Mac

Mac lipsticks are such a staple! You can always rely on a Mac lipstick to look good. I love all the different colours they offer and being a nude kinda girl they have many options. All sorts of finishes for any look you’re after.

Tips: Using a lip liner to prolong your lipstick trough out the day and can also change up the colour if you’re wanting to switch it up

Iconic lipstick

MAC lipsticks are legendary alone in that they come in hundreds of different shades. It's the only brand I know that has such a vast range colours from the most vibrant right down to most neutral. MAC comes in a variety of finishes and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. Some examples of finishes are matte, satin and metallic. Some wear for a few hours with a sheer and hydrating coverage and some last longer with a more drying finish. I always have a collection of MAC lipsticks in my collection, they always do their job and you can depend on them doing what they say they do. I tend to like more glossy hydrating lipsticks so I go for the sheer ones. MAC make the best red called Russian red and it is matte and extremely long lasting I love it. These lipsticks are surprisingly reasonable in price and make awesome presents, cannot go wrong with this brand.

Tips: Keep your empty tubes to recycle in store and get a free lippy when take 5 empties.

Long wearing

I bet everyone know MAC Lipsticks. They are the first ones who made a lipstick that is matte but not flat. I love wearing it everyday and I have a couple of shades that I bought. Teddy is one of my everyday go-to lipstick and Diva is one of my go-to party lipstick. I like that it's matte but not flat. It's also non drying and long lasting.

Teddy is famous! It’s literally one of the only lippy names I know. Always used to be out of stock.

AMAZING

Mac lipsticks are my holy grail lipsticks! They are amazing! So so so so many colours and finishes, there are literally ones to suit every skin colour and tone! They apply really smoothly, the ones I own are coral bliss, angel, girl about town and lovelorn, and I love all the colours, never had a problem with any. Scent is amazing! Some of the lighter colours can tend to settle in the lines of lips, but you experience that with neatly every lipstick brand anyway! A must have!

Tips: Exfoliate and moisturise lips fully to prep for best application.

The ultimate hit or miss product.

Don't get me wrong... I love MAC. But their lipsticks are rather hit and miss. There are the classics; you can find them on the Back 2 MAC lists or countless blogs. The staple lippies wont let you down but buyer beware for limited edition shades or more tricky formulas. Some can glide on with full coverage with barely a swipe and other drag like sand paper across your gob.

The great thing about MAC, and especially their lipstick, is the variety; both in culture and texture. It's so much more than just the run of the mill 5 different pink selections you find in other ranges. If you are looking for a shade that is a little out of the ordinary (or completely?) then MAC would be the way to go.

All MAC lipsticks have a vanilla scent that some people don't mind and others hate. It is nowhere near as strong as some other brands (I'm looking at you Revlon) but still detectable.

Tips: I like the mattes and amplified because of the colour payoff. Cremesheens are great for everyday wear.

Love them!!

So I have a couple of these (roughly 15) and I really do love them. While I do agree that there are some Mac lipsticks that are a bit iffy I think it's all about finding your right colour and finish.

I personally hate glossy lipsticks. I never wear lipgloss and if I put on a lipstick that is a bit glossy I always blot it with a tissue to turn it matte. That is until I started using the matte Mac lipsticks. I personally think they are amazing. I completely forget I'm wearing them and they last a decent time. I work as a waitress so am working 4/5 hours before I get a break to touch up my lipstick and really I only do that to bring a bit more colour back. They are almost like lipstains because they last so well.

The new retro matte lipsticks seem to be a bit of a fail. I purchased a couple of them since I love matte but these just seem to tug on your lips so I would suggest skipping them and just sticking to matte ones.

Overall I would still recommend them to everyone and I know there have been a few times where some of my friends have borrowed them for town

Tips: Make sure you go into the store (if you live near one) to try the colour first. Try and wear it for a day and if you still like it go for it.

Also make sure you exfoliate and moisturise your lips before applying the lipstick especially with the matte ones as they can show dry skin on your lips quite a lot.

Ensure that you keep any lipstick containers that are empty and also eyeshadow ones (or just depot your eyeshadows into a palette) as once you have 6 empties you can go into Mac and Back2Mac them which means you can swap them for a free lipstick (one of their more populars lippies such as Russian Red and Morange)

soooo true about exfoliating your lips before using lipstick! like a teeny bit of sugar in olive oil. or even toothpaste on your tooth brush and rub really gently. :)

Smitten with Mac

I am a big MAC fan. I dont know if its the "forbidden fruit" appeal, as it is so difficult to get in the South Island, or if it's because its what all the girls use in the make up tutorials on youtube but I LOVE my MAC lippy. I only have two, Ruby Woo and Impassioned (which I wear as often as possible) but I dearly love them. The only downside about the Ruby Woo is because it is a Matte finish it can be incredibly drying on my lips. But the pigments are amazing, they stay put on my lips and the colours are to die for. Get yourself a MAC ASAP!

Tips: Make sure your lips are super hydrated before wearing a Matte lippy, and maybe save it for a dinner or a night out where you arent wearing it for hours and hours because I find it can sometimes become a bit crumbly and really dry but this might just be on my lips! Give them a good exfoliate regularly too!

Obsessed!

I only recently got into mac lipstick and i love them although they are on the pricey-er end i think they are amazing quality and well worth the money. I have 5 in varying formulas and my favourite would probably be lustres although cremesheens are amazing for a little bit more pigmentations and staying power. They are also amazingly pigmented, and if you want your lipstick to pack a little extra punch i would definitely go for and amplified cremesheen as they are extra pigmented.

Tips: Make sure your lips are well moisturised before hand, and use a lip scrub if you have extra dry lips.
