My awesome friend (BR girl kknz) gave me this as part of my birthday present, thinking I'd love it. She was 100% correct. I have this in shade 150: Fuchsia Desire.
The Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils are a very unique product. They are bang on trend with two HUGE current fashions in lip-makeup; brights and matte. They also feature a very appealing pencil format, which is sharpen-able, and a crazy-cheap pricetag alongside Maybelline quality.
Fuchsia Desire is a bright, vibrant pink. It's intensely pigmented and very easy to apply and wear. I find that it lasts amazingly well - and is able to be reapplied without a mirror for me, which is a huge bonus. I've been wearing it to work a lot (I am a teacher) because of this. It even made its way onto my face for a recent internet documentary I was in haha.
This product applies 'creamily' but dries matte, and is very pigmented, staying bright and sticking to lips for hours. It transfers to what it touches, but just from the outer layers, leaving plenty on lips. Being a pencil format it is easy to get the shape right, and avoid bleeding.
I want this in other shades! It's exceptional; check it out
The Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils are quite possibly going to be my favourite lip product of 2015. At first I was a little confused as to what they are. A lip pencil? A lipstick? Do I wear this on its own, or do I apply a lipstick or lipgloss over top? The answer: you can do whatever you like with this little beauty. They are designed to be worn as a stand-alone lip product, creating a defined, bold lip that applies smoothly, leaving a velvet finish that can lean towards matte or creamy depending on whether you apply a balm underneath. I personally haven't come across anything like it. It gives more definition than a chubby stick, but is more bold and pigmented that a standard lip crayon. It's not a lipstick because of the obvious packaging difference, but it's also more than a lipliner.
After using these for a few months, I have decided that my favourite way to wear them is with a little bit of lipstick, or a Clarins Lip Perfecter over the top. This gives a bold, defined and long lasting lip combination. The colour selection is on point. The nudes are beautiful and there are bright pinks and bold reds that have serious wow impact. With a $10 price tag and available in supermarkets, this is an incredibly affordable and accessible product. Whether it's for an everyday lip colour, or an affordable way to try out a new shade, I 100% recommend slipping a Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil into your trolley.
Tips: Combine these with a matching lipstick.
