What is it?

Highly pigmented lips are the look of the moment, and this lip cream takes it to the next level with its beautiful matte finish! The creamy long-wear formula glides on easily with its doe foot applicator, finishing to a velvety matte look with intense, full coverage colour payoff. Perfect for when you want lasting, matte colour that moves with your lips without flaking.

Time for a change from gloss! It applies creamy, lasts all day and finishes with a soft suede look.A matte lip cream that moves with your lips so you don’t have to worry about caking and flaking.

Affordable and lasts all day!

I absolutely love my velour-lips. I have 4 shades and they are amazing. Firstly - the pigmentation: These are insanely pigmented! A little goes a long way, they are super bright and intense - they would definitely be the star of your look whilst wearing them! The finish: They dry completely and don't transfer - I have worn these all day whilst eating and drinking and they don't come off. They have a 'matte' finish, but all it would take is a glossy lipgloss to change the finish of these wonderful lipsticks. I don't find them drying, however if you do or you don't like the feelings of dryness on your lips, just apply some lipbalm first. When taking off I would recommend using jojoba oil - they will come off no trouble, and this will return some hydration to your lips. These are definitely value for money, and I will be growing my collection as they release more of these wonderful cremes!

Tips: The wand is a bit tricky, so be very careful to perfect your application before it dries!

Almost as good as Velvetines..

I have been on the lookout for a coral-brown matte lip product for a while now, but seeing as LimeCrime have stopped supplying to NZ I thought I'd give Velourlips a go, in the shade Paree. I bought it from Farmers for $17.50, I think other stores may sell it cheaper though. One of the first things I noticed was the smell - the product smells really amazing, like berries. I do recommend swatching before you buy as Paree turned out a little more pinky-nude than the brown I was hoping for, but in saying that I absolutely adore the colour. The first time I wore it I put it on over a lip balm and didn't notice any drying or flaking. I did eat and drink with it on but it only moved a little from the inside of my lips, which wasn't really noticeable. I did find it easy to reapply, I just put a thin layer on top of what was already there and it stayed a really lovely matte finish the whole day. You definitely do need to exfoliate your lips and wear lip balm though! Without it then it has a really dry, tingly feel, like having cotton on your lips, and also flakes more. I feel like all matte lip creams should be used in conjunction with a prepping product though, so this wasn't a dealbreaker for me. I didn't need lip liner or anything, I didn't notice any bleeding on application. I don't really like any of the other colours in the range as I'm not a huge fan of pinky bubblegum colours, and as I mentioned the colours on there website aren't true to the swatches in my experience. However I would definitely repurchase this colour as it's a great shade for daily wear.

Tips: Exfoliate and use a moisturizing lip treatment before application to avoid excess drying. Swatch before you buy.

IS good but rubs off

Is good, such a nice strong colour a and is matte , but yet if you have dry lips or re apply through out the day it tends to get a bit dry and starts rubbing off, so just be carefull, wipe off and reapply, or moisturize lips first!

Long lasting cherry reds

I got this lovely lippy for xmas and let me tell you the colour (Ny-CEE) is to die for!! It makes my heart beat faster and slower at the same time and creates butterflies in my tummy!

I love that the applicator is like a lip gloss wand making it far easier to apply and get a perfect shape without colouring outside the lines. The smell is oh so yummy, reminds me of lollies almost. It makes it so much more inviting to wear and I am sure I get looks from sniffing my lips making it look like I'm puckering up when I feel the need.

It really does have staying power when kissing and even eating and drinking. I am convinced that I have found a lippy that will last a few hours and for a great price.

One con that I found was it dries and makes my lips feel flaky and dry. I applied some clear gloss and hello wet look! It looks one hundred times better as a wet look. I wish I could upload a photo because I am in love!

I am now on a mission to acquire all the colours that float my boat so that I may be set for every outfit and mood also some more clear gloss. :D

Tips: Use gloss over the top because it dries a tad flaky

In Love!

I own this product in Paree and I am seriously impressed and obsessed with it. I want to run out and BUY ALL THE COLOURS!!! I'm on a no-spend however, so I shall resist...for now.

Paree is the most lovely shade of nude. I never imagined I'd ever buy a nude lippy pre-BR. Heck I wasn't even a lippy girl, let alone buying a product to look like natural lip colour, did not see the point. Inspired by the lovely BR community I have recently stepped out of my comfort zone and nude was a gap in my fledgling collection that needed filling. It is a gorgeous shade, somehow managing to come off both edgy and polished looking. I've even been playing around with overlining my lips and it's perfect for that too.

As you can probably gather from my admission that I am a lippy nube, I am perhaps not best placed to compare this to other products formulation or staying power wise but I shall give it a whirl.

I enjoy the creamy-on formulation. It goes it smooth and the fuzzy stick thing applicator (I'm sure this has a technical name sorry) lets me get it nice and precise and control the amount of product I'm using.

I found the wear a little tacky for half an hour after applying but not in an overly irritating way. Once it dries I was barely aware I was wearing it at all. Speaking of drying I hear tales that matte products can be just that but personally, with my normally very dry lips, I didn't have this problem at all.

Staying power... Here's the rub. This claims to have all day staying power, which for me was just an out and out fallacy. If I don't eat, or drink (or at least drip water from my bottle carefully into my mouth) I can get a good few hours out of it. Eat or drink in a non-weirdo manner though and I need to touch up.

Better Than Lime Crime?

I recently broke my no-spend (oops!) and decided to purchase this in the shade Par-ee after the whole hype over Kylie Jenner has died down somewhat and it was actually in stock!

You get about as much, if not slightly more product in a tube than our trusty old Velvetines.. I'm not sure if I should be comparative but I think I'll make an exception to be on this review. It's half the price, so what makes the Velvetine better than the Velourlips?

The packaging: Not quite as cute, but it does the job and it doesn't look cheap. The wand is about the same size as the Velvetine, but it holds more product. Something I like more because with the Velvetine I never have enough product on my wand.

Formula: Velourlips are sticky, but not gloss sticky. It's something I don't particularly like because I'm not a lipgloss fan. They do dry matte though. They smell quite nice, like tutti-fruity.

Drying & Lasting Power: It dries faster than the Velvetines, and I find that the lasting power is longer when eating or drinking. It also doesn't make little rumples like the Velvetines do, so you can touch it up too.

Which one would I rather buy? For the price & functionality - definitely the Australis. But for the splurge, cuteness factor I'd buy LC. To be honest though, Australis does have more colours and they're more appealing to me than the Lime Crime ones.

Tips: Apply from the middle of your lips outwards to avoid having too much product in the corners of your lips. PS. It's an almost exact dupe for MAC Honeylove, just in liquid form.

Current fav lip product

I am so obsessed with these Velourlips at the moment, they are my go-to basically every weekend now! I have Pa-ree and the bright red one (the name escapes me right now, is it Ny-cee?) anyway, they are an amazing affordable lip product with great staying power. The colours are gorgeous and pigmented and you get a lot of product. I have the Lime Crime velventines and to be honest while I love my Velventines, I think I prefer the Velourlips because they have a creamier consistency rather than a watery consistency which I find makes it sooooo much easier to apply neatly. I dont have a negative thing to say about them! Now I just have to work on expanding my collection of them!

Falls over at the last hurdle

There's no doubt these products are the best thing since sliced bread when you first put them on your gob but as you try and rock your perfect purple pout for the rest of the day this is where you find the products fall a little short of your mile high expectations. I know these are matte lip creams but I find the formula a little too drying especially given, now wait for it, they do come off during the day! More annoyingly is that you need to take your whole application off as touch ups aren't possible with this product as it flakes off. I have so much praise for this product if you are wearing it for a shortish amount of time and don't plan on eating or drinking but I struggle to find occasions to wear this due to th rigmoral required to reapply. If you want something still drugstore priced but legitimately budge proof I would pick the Rimmel Provocalips over this.

Tips: Do not apply this on dry lips, it settles into the cracks and crevices of your lips and will exaggerate any dryness. Exfoliating your lips beforehand is a good idea =]

Take make up wipes with you if you plan on wearing all day as you can't touch this up without reapplying from scratch.

Oily foods are this products kryptonite, avoid avoid avoid!

I love the colour selection

First of all I have to say I love the names they have for these. Very quirky. Now the colours. They are popping. Very very bright. Very very cool. These lippys can be rather drying but I do find they last. The only issue I have found is when you have been eating, it rubs off on the inside of the lips. Very frustrating but not the end of the world. I would recommend these products purly on the colours available. But they may not be suitable if you are prone to getting dry lips.

Tips: Apply some lip balm to your lips while you are applying your makeup then when wipe it off prior to applying this lippy

Not quite for me

I'm perfectly happy with the formula for these products but I wasn't a major fan of the colours that I have - they just weren't very wearable with my skin tone. These were free with a magazine though, so if I was to repurchase them I would take a better look at colour options.
