Expensive but worth it if you can afford them!

When I was at makeup school I was a struggling student, I didn't have money to buy high end products at the time and I hadn't yet tried any MAC products until I saw someone selling little MAC sample pots on trademe. Back then I wasn't aware of fake products so it didn't pass my mind to be weary of where I purchased them from but they were cheap and I was so interested to try some high end eye shadows. For $6-7 each I got a small container that had MAC loose pigment inside. I had 6 of these and I cant remember at the top of my mind what the shade names were as it was a long time ago so I will try my best to describe them to you.

I had a chocolate brown, an almost blue black, burgundy, copper, a bright turquoise and silver shade.

I was new at using loose powder and the first few times using these I made a big mess, there was a large amount of fallout on my cheeks and all over the counters, once I learnt how to be a little more careful, it made applying these so much easier.

A small amount of pigment was a large dose of colour, I could not believe my eyes with how intense these pigments were and they blended like butter. It was a huge difference compared to what I was used to using. They were long lasting and so bold.

If I could afford to I would purchase the full sizes of these products, the colour pay off and blending capabilities are astounding!

I bought some of those sample pots too! Probably more than ten years ago now, and since destashed. I had a gorgeous emerald and a silvery white. I did later buy a proper one though - a gorgeous gold.

Intense colour

I've had this used on me for ball. Make up. They are great and you can use them for a large range of techniques but they do take a nut of skill to get right. Personally I'll leave it to the professionals.

Tips: Less is more with this item

Insane PIGMENTation

MAC pigments are stunning. They are like a loose eyeshadows but with insane pigmentation. I have had several of these, including sample sized Emerald Green (an absolutely stunning shade) and White Gold (super shiny silvery shade, amazing as an inner corner highlight), and a full sized Old Gold (gorgeous true yellow gold) but have sold them all as I never gave them the use they deserved.

You only need a very small amount of these to get good payoff - I don't even put my eyeshadow brush into the pot itself but use the residue remaining on the inside of the lid. This also prevents accidentally getting too much on your brush and looking like you have fallen into a pot of glitter.

They do give some fallout, but this can be reduced by using something like Fix+ on your brush before applying, or using shadow shields or applying the pigment prior to other makeup.

I would have kept them in my collection, but you only need the tiniest amount and I used them so infrequently that I didn't see the need to keep them around. I may yet pick up more samples if I see a colour I must have (hello Melon and Tan...)

Tips: The sized to go pigments are a smaller size, and worth it as finishing one would be near impossible. Holiday collections also often include a set of pigments which all go together and are a great way to try them out.

So worth the price!

So I was super sceptical about forking out a heap of money for an eyeshadow but im so glad I did! I don't the shade melon and it's incredible. Mac pigments are super multipurpose, they can be used dry or wet as a shadow, dry or wet as a face highlight or added to the lips for an extra shine. The colour melon is a melon colour with gold reflects and I use it on the eyes and on the tops of the cheekbones. I have also used it mixed in with my foundation to give a dewy glow, this will only work with medium to darker skin tones I think, so be wary! I don't think anyone could ever go through a whole pigment pot in their lifetime because a little goes such a long way. They're lightweight, pure pigment with a high shine finish. And I couldn't recommend them more!

Tips: Mac also has travel sized to go pigments which are much smaller and cheaper, which I recommend trying before buying a big pot, just to see if you like the formula etc

Super intense colors!

These pigments really do what they say they will, the colors are deep and intense. I purchased a few of these and I've found I haven't actually used them much as I normally don't wear a lot of makeup. However, if you like dramatic looks, you will love this product. It can be used wet or dry, and is very buildable. Dry application can get a bit messy due to its powder form and you are bound to get some on your cheeks afterwards so shields are probably a good idea. It is actually quite cheap for how much product you get, it's basically impossible to finish a full sized pot as you only need a tiny amount each time.

Tips: I have tried it with and without a primer and I would definitely suggest using a primer, it lasts waaaaaaaaay longer.

Love These Little Gems

Over the years my MAC pigment collection has rapidly grown and I'm in love with every single colour I have especially Old Gold and Bronze. All of the colours are vibrant and glide onto skin like satin. For an even more intense pigment you can apply it with a wet brush ( I use Mac Fix +). A little goes a long way with this product making these pigments extreme value for money.

Tips: As this product does tend to have fallout I complete my eye makeup first do that I can clean this up before applying the rest of my makeup. Sample pots are often available to buy online (trademark etc) and areapply a great way to sample the product.

Mac pigment review

Loved this product highly recommended. Heard so much about these products so was happy to review. Products were amazing and lasts so long as quite a bit in the jar. Product is quite fine pigment that covers but covers a lot. Goes on nice and smooth as well.

Stunning, but overpriced

I own four of the mini pigments that I've received through two different Christmas giftsets. I own the shades 'English Gilt' a soft gold, 'Bright Fuchsia'; a hot pink-red, 'Pink Opal'; an opalescent frosty shade, and 'Shine Time'; a copper shimmer. All four of these shades are absolutely stunning colours and have a beautiful shimmer to them. I find the pigments all perform differently according to the shade. The pigments come in a simple clear container with a black lid, and have a stopper under the lid to prevent the product leaking. There is no sifter however, so you have to dip your brush right into the container, or shake product out, so you're forced to pick an unhygienic option or a messy option. Naturally, being pigments, all of the shades have super intense colour payoff, and a tiny amount of product goes a long way. I'd recommend like the reviewer below me has, to get these in the mini version as you are unlikely to ever use up an entire full size of these, given how little product is required to get a massive amount of colour. The pigments are quite finely milled and not chunky at all, so they apply very smoothly to the eyelid. I do find there is a lot of fall-out with these, compared to other pigments I've used, and this persists even if I wet my brush or spray my brush with setting spray to get the pigment to stick, The darker shades I own tend to be hard to work with because the fall out from the pigment actually stains the skin and is very difficult to remove with make up remover. Once applied, these last very well and the colour stays very strong; they last so well that they are incredibly difficult to remove, particularly the shade 'Bright Fuchsia'. These also work really well layered with the Mac eye glitters on top. I do find that the paler shades don't wear as well throughout the day as the darker shades; 'English Gilt' and 'Pink Opal' wear out more throughout the day than my two darker shades. I do really like these pigments, but they are very expensive, and whilst stunning, aren't really any more special that other pigments on the market that cost half of the price. I enjoy the ones I own as they were gifts but if I was wanting a pigment again in the future, I would go for a cheaper option. However, if you don't mind the splurge, these are a nice product.

Tips: Purchase the mini versions as a little of this goes a long way, and you'll get more bang for your buck!

Beautiful.

I have two of these in sample sizes, silver and golden olive. I can't comment on the packaging with them because the samples I have are in small plastic containers that aren't MAC.

These pigments are super, super pigmented (go figure!). You can use them either wet or dry and both ways result in a gorgeous, pigmented metallic finish. When these are used wet they are more intense than they are when dry.

Because these are pigments, they have a lot of fallout when used dry. If you are going to use them dry then I would leave my foundation until after you've done your eyes so you don't mess your face up.

Whilst these are gorgeous pigments I really don't feel they are superior to other pigments from different brands that I have used. I feel that there are cheaper alternatives to these, which I would suggest checking out unless MAC have a shade that you feel is unique.

These are really nice but I wouldn't pay full price for them, even though a little lasts a long, long time.

Mac pigments

I only buy the Mac pigments at Xmas time In the gift sets, as I would never pay $55 a pot when it would get hardly used! Price cringe!!

Unless your a make up artist I would only recommend the holiday jar instead of the normal pigment pots, as they last for ever and who needs that much of the one colour.

The pigment them self can be very messy to use so make sure you either have shadow Gards or only using very little product at a time. I would not recommend using the pigments to do ur whole eye look with as again they are messy to use and no the best to blend. I just use mine at the end for the final lid colour as they are very very pigmented and make ur eyes pop!

Tips: Pigments can be used to make lip colours, nail polish or you can either press them to make the like normal shadows
