Easy to use

This was the first pen-style liquid liner I tried out, and it’s really impressed me overall. My current one is about to dry out, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing.

The sleek thin packaging of this really appeals to me, and it’s very functional with a tight-fitting cap and flat ends so it can be stood up in a jar/container easily. The tip is basically like a very fine tapered felt pen, which means it’s both firmer and more easily controllable than the brush-style liquid liners I’d tried in the past. It’s easy to make a very thin line, and easy to thicken it up because of the taper. The ‘ink’ (liner) flows smoothly, and up until very recently, when it’s started to dry up (I’ve had it for a good few months longer than recommended… oops), the pigmentation has been continuous and very black.

This dries in a matter of a minute or two to a fairly matte/satin finish, making it perfect for a classic retro cat-eye flick. It isn’t waterproof, but I’d say it is fairly water-resistant – a quick walk in the rain won’t leave you with black streaks everywhere, although a shower definitely will. :P Because of this it’s no trouble to remove – micellar water does the trick easily, as does my usual oil or balm cleanser.

Honestly, I don’t really have any complaints with this product. It’s affordable, easy to find (you can pick it up along with the groceries at the supermarket!), and simple to use. I’d definitely recommend it to someone just starting out with liquid eyeliner, as well as anyone else looking for a reliable and easy-to-use liner option.

Love!

At this stage this liner is the best I have ever tried. I brought this pen quite some time ago and it's still going strong. When I purchased this I also got the maybelline gel liner (there was a 20% off or something at Countdown) while the gel liner is a fav as well it's since dried out but not this pen!

This pen has the finest tip I have come across in a liner pen. It took some getting use to but it's great as you can really get it into your lash line while making it look like you have no liner on as you can create such a fine line.

It's pigmented and dries quickly, doesn't flake and lasts on my oily lids all day without smudging.

I love creating winged liner with this pen as you can get the lines and tip of the wing so perfect.

Best of all it's affordable!

If you are new to liquid liners I think this product is a great one to try. It's outdone many I have tried including MAC, Stila and Bourjois.

Very black and stays put

This was the first liquid eyeliner I had ever bought because I needed (yes needed) to up my game and try the cat eye out (Note: I have very hooded eyes and this is just not a look I can do due to it being well... invisible when I open my eyes, I can do it... it looks great then I open my eyes and where did it go?!). So this product isn't obviously going to work well for me for it's intended purposes but I have re-purposed it and found that it is great for makeup for fancy dress... it stays put and dries quickly. It doesn't appear to be waterproof however so a brief shower of rain has this tearing down my face. Also this makes it easy to wash off but being water resistant would be handy regardless. It may have been entirely due to being below my eye line and not above it where it wouldn't be subjected to the volume of liquid that would wash it away normally and I will note that it only smudges it not disappears completely.

It's not bad, but I haven't exactly stuck to the rules of proper usage. I love the way the brush tip glides effortlessly, it creates bold and thin lines with ease and the pigmentation is solid.

Tips: Logical tip here but mistakes were made... make sure the cap is on properly otherwise it will dry out (oops).

My new Go-To

I really like this eyeliner. Super easy to use. I basically touch it longways on the top of my lashes & bring it down towards my lashline. It makes a perfect line without having to really do anything. I don't use the tip of the applicator to draw a line or anything, the applicator is the perfect length (about 1.5cm) , so I repeat the same action only 2-3 times per eye. The applicator dispenses the perfect amount to create nice crisp lines and lasts all day. Towards the end of the day I do find that i have a "second eyebrow" from it smudging a bit, but I have oily skin and it lasts better than many others I have tried.

Perfect flick ERRY TIME!

This is the best and the easiest eyeliner I have used to date. It has a really soft fine tip that doesn't drag the skin, but instead glides over for the perfect flick, every time! My eye liner lasts me ages before drying out - such good bang for your buck! Also, doesn't smudge during the day. I then use an oil cleanser to wipe it off. Easy peasy.

Tips: Keep the lid tightly on to prevent drying out. Dont push too hard on the eye, just let it glide over :)

A competitor for my HG

I just recently got this liner and can already tell that its quickly becoming one of my favourites. My current fave liner is the Kat Von D tattoo liner which has a similar brush hair tip but isn't as precise. This liner has a short tip which is just brush hairs that come together into a super sharp point. Brush hair liners are my favourite because as you're drawing the line above your Lashes, they fan out to create a smooth line. There is no need to press a button, a thin black fluid comes out of the tip by itself. The tube is a thin, black tube which is typical of a liner such as this. The liquid itself is nice an black, making an opaque line without having to go over the same spot over and over. I love this liner, it allows me to get a super sharp line without too much mess. I can't comment on how long the liner lasts for as I have only had it a few weeks.

Tips: Map out both wings before starting to draw the line on top of your lashes to ensure even wings on both sides.

HG!

I will always repurchase this eyeliner.

Spectacular product, easily on par with the Stila and Kat Von D Tattoo liner. Fine brush tip allows for total precision and the colour is a dark, pure black. As this become more and more loved the colour does start to fade and payoff lessens, but I don't have that much of an issue simply going over it, as it retains the precision. Unlike a felt tip liner, the end of this doesn't flake or break after some usage, so it will last you until either it runs out of ink or you can't be bothered going over the lines to make them opaque. I find with mine that I will get around 3 months of wear with regular use and optimum results.

My primary joy when it comes to these liners is their longevity. I often forget that I am wearing makeup, and as a result when I finally am able to glance at myself after a long day sometimes the results are pretty shocking. The liner never budges. At one point I was working two jobs, 16 hour days, and nights running food in hospitality - this never disappeared

Master smudge eyeliner

I do like the packaging. It's simple and compact allowing you to carry it anywhere without the fear of it leaking since the cap is locked on.

The brush is very fine and tapers to a tip that allows for thin and precise line application. I also like the formula as it doesn't tug and does allow for a smooth line and the perfect wing to be drawn (or any other eyeliner look that you want to rock). I do find that the colour is more of a grey and you have to keep going over the line to get an intense black which often makes the line messy and thicker, so I'm not a huge fan of that.

As for smudgeproof and waterproof - definitely not in my opinion. It always smudges on me and I end up with panda eyes, which is not a trend that I like. It smudges within a couple of hours on me and simply does not last - even when I wear eye primer. Possibly because of this, it does come off super easily and I just use Garnier Micellar water to remove it.

Due to the smudging and grey colour pay off, I am not a huge fan of this eyeliner and would not repurchase this.

Tips: If you want an 'invisible' eyeliner look, just do dashed lines on the lash line rather than a solid continuous line

Pretty Good Eyeliner

I think I got this from a vault. I love eye liners, and since the withdrawal of Za from NZ, I have hard pressed to find anything to match the Za eyeliner. Sadly, this isn't it.

This is a pretty standard pen-style liner in a plastic tube. It has a straight fine tip, which looked promising. For some reason though, I cannot get that nice even unbroken line I'm hanging out to get. I have to say it's better than anything else I've tried so far, hence the good score. Also, it doesn't smudge and it doesn't irritate my eyes. It's a great price for a medium range eyeliner too.

Definitely worth a try. I'm still hoping to find a Za equivalent tho!

I just don't get the hype

I bought this after hearing an endless string of great reviews. It is a pen format, which makes it really easy to use. Uncap the lid and you see a small flexible felt tip style nib, which makes drawing a precise line easy.

I prefer to use the tip and the flat edge of the nib towards the tip for the most precision. You do have to be a bit careful as the nib widens quite a bit towards the base and will produce quite a thick line. You could use this part to make a wing quickly but I usually just line the top lashes without a wing.

Now for why I gave it a 2/5 stars: it dries up really quickly. Far too quickly. I probably only had two months max use out of this, and I didn't use it everyday. Towards the end it became very greyish also, not like the nice dark black it was at the beginning. Not sure if I got a dud or not but I'll stick with pot format liquid liners and gel eyeliners for now.
