Great product!

I bought this in the colour Milk (a white colour). Creamy and blendable pencil, great for using on your eyelids as a base/primer or for using on your waterline. It creases a little bit but smooths back out with a warm finger.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

I decided to buy one of these due to a lot of youtubers saying they make a good base for eyeshadow. I decided to get this in the shade milk which is a basic white shade. It is really pigmented and is super blendable. I have found that this does make a great primer as it makes any color pop and look more intense. I have found that this doesn't crease on me also. It is also a pencil you can use in your waterline if you wish. The texture of this is smooth and soft. I like that it is a jumbo pencil as I think it is easier to hold than a thin pencil. I would definitely repurchase this.

Tips: I apply this over the lid directly from the pencil, then blend all over with my fingers. I then use powder eyeshadow on top.

A fav in my make-up bag

Love the jumbo pencil size as it's easy to hold and apply to my eyelid, and the tip is forgiving during application. You don't need a steady hand, just sweep it on and go. The texture is soft and smooth, and while the colour stands out on its own with a little shine/shimmer, I prefer to add a similar shade on top to make it pop. I have oily eyelids so I notice by the end of my work day there is some subtle creasing but the product has a creamy like appearance, so I don't mind the creasing.

Tips: Apply a similar shade on top to help pop the colour

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils.

I own 5 of these. I purchased them off BeautyJoint over to separate orders. Five shade I own are Cottage Cheese,Milk,Black Bean,Sparkle Nude and Cashmere.

COTTAGE CHEESE: This is a sparkly white colour similar to Milk but I don't think as strong and pigmented as Milk. I use this mostly and a base for a make up look if I was going to do an intense look and wanted a little sparkle to my eye shadow I think this one provides a not too over the top simmer. I also think it makes an amazing brow bone highlight.

MILK: Milk would be the one colour most talked about on Youtube and anywhere else. Its a strong pastel white. It's crazy pigmented and super blend able. It's my most used colour out of them all. It makes an amazing primer. Putting this on before using eye shadow makes the colour I am using pop and look so much more intense. I also find that this doesn't crease on me.

BLACK BEAN:This is their black they have. I mostly use this as an eyeliner but this could be used as a dark crease colour as its super blend able aswell. This one is so soft and glides on really nicely on the lid.

SPARKLE NUDE: This is a shimmery bronze colour. This looks amazing over top of "milk" I really like this one its works really well blended it the crease with other colours.

CASHMERE: I would say this colour is similar to Sparkle Nude but it's alot more towards a gold colour i use it pretty much the same as Sparkle nude as well. If I'm going to be working with gold eye shadow colours then I will also use this as a base as it starts the look off really well.

These are awesome pencils and are so handy with so many eye shadow looks. Would highly recommend.

This is an awesome review, thank you! :) I only have the black one and have only used it as an eyeliner. I think I'll be investing in some more colours as they all sound so versatile.

I always thought these were overrated and never bothered to buy any. But now I think I should give them a go. Specially the milk and cashmere colours :) Thanx for the awesome review

The Good vs The Bad.

I purchased 4 of these little guys last year after seeing the amazing colour range they come in and the colours are just as amazing in person! However… They don’t like my face. I purchased Milk, Iced Mocha, Lavender and Purple Velvet. The “Milk” & “Iced Mocha” I have used the most, usually as a base. I apply them over the lid directly from the pencil, then blend all over with a brush or my fingers. I then use powder eyeshadow on top.

I notice that when using the Jumbo Eye Pencils as an eye-shadow on their own they don't last too long, after an hour or so the colour has gone or completely slipped off my eyes. I also found them difficult to blend, and would notice creases. I may try them again with an eyeshadow primer and some tips/tricks on using them, cause the colours again are amazing.

Tips: I apply them over the lid directly from the pencil, then blend all over with a brush or my fingers. I then use powder eyeshadow on top.

NYX Jumbo Pencil

I have 4 of these pencils. I find them to be a nice affordable product but not very long lasting. They are pigmented and apply nicely though. I think anyone who is interested in this product need to keep in mind that they don't claim to be a long lasting formula and state they are a pencil, not an eyeshadow. I have shades MILK, ICED MOCHA, PURPLE VELVET and COBALT.

Milk is probably the most popular shade. It's a very pigmented matte white. Ideal for the waterline, inner eye highlight or as a base to make your shadows colour more true to colour and popping. While it is great at all this, on my eye lids it just doesn't last. I tend to roughly apply over my lid and then blend it with my finger tip, it is easily blend-able. It isn't effective at prolonging my shadows unfortunately but my lids do need a strong primer which this product does not claim to be. It does crease on me.

Iced Mocha is a gorgeous bronze, super pigmented and creamy. Great blended all over the lid. Once again not long lasting on my lids and does crease.

Purple Velvet is a dark purple shade, while initially very pigmented it smudges away very easily once you start to blend. It's suited as a base when set with a shadow but like with all, you may want to keep it close to your lash line and away from any creases!

Cobalt is a bright blue with a shimmer to it. It's a lovely colour but it loses a lot of opacity if blended too much (which of course is expected)

All these depend on how you want to use them. I think their ideal use is slightly smudged on the lash line. Your not going to get a super tidy lined look as they are jumbo pencils and I find they wear off really quickly.

Of my 4 I only use Milk regularly.

Tips: Using a brush, like a small angled brush, is my favourite way to apply if I want more precision.

Not convinced...

I have this pencil in Milk, which is the matte white colour. I thought I'd try it out as I heard it was really helpful for makeup and also worked as an eye-shadow primer or base. I've used it on my waterline, which was fine, and nothing special, except it is hard to be precise with a jumbo pencil obviously. But when I tried it as a base to do a silvery eyeshadow look, and applied it all over my lid, it was a disaster. It made me look like a ghost first of all, because it was so pigmented, but I thought it would be ok once I layered eyeshadow over it. But none of the eyeshadow would stick to it! It got all over my applicators, and I couldn't blend it or anything. It was thick and cakey, and just didn't sit right in any way. I don't know how you are meant to use it, but I obviously wasn't using it right, because it looked terrible and I had to wipe most of it off. I feel like the other colours might be ok on their own, but I got the white as I wanted something which could double as a base to keep bright eyeshadows bright. I will try it again, but from the past experience, it doesn't do what I thought it was, and I already have cheaper $2 white eyeliners which do the waterline just as well.

Tips: Would not recommend as an eyeshadow base. Perhaps applying a tiny amount of product would be better as it's so thick and pigmented.

In the minority

But I really, really cannot stand these pencils, they are creamy for sure, well pigmented but they crease like crazy even over an expensive primer and just make a mess of my overall makeup, I have tried these in matte shades (black bean, dark brown, milk) and one in french fries (metallic) and they all do the same thing for me. The other problem I have had with all of them is the lids crack and break within the first or second use. Makes a mess of my face and my makeup bag!

ooh yes the lids are not that great, and crack quickly. I'll be sad if they fall apart as I won't be able to keep them in my make-up bag.

Love Love Love

I purchased two of these. One in milk a opaque matte white which is perfect for an eyeshadow base for coloured eyeshadows to enhance the vibrancy of the look and another one in french fries which is a gorgeous shimmery bronze shade.

I love how creamy these are, it makes them super easy and comfortable to apply to the lid. They have good pigmentation and are great for a nice smudged eyeliner. I use these both as eyeshadow bases, as cream eyeshadows by themselves and as eyeliner. I have never had issues with these creasing and I find they wear really well. I would definitely recommend these to others and will be buying more shades in the future. They are super affordable too as most of NYX products are which makes them all the better.

I bought these after seeing shaanxo rave on and on about having them as a eyeshadow base so I bought milk (white) and a cashmere (gold) and im so glad I bought them! they make your eyeshadow last longer they are super creamy, last forever, my cashmere does have a shimmer to it so best not to get this colour if that's not what your into! im definatly going to invest in more colours :)
