My favourite palette by far for fans of nu-grunge

When I saw that this eye shadow palette was being released in a limited number of editions on their website only, being the fan that I am I knew I had to get my hands on one. Luckily I did manage to get one before they sold out. Also I’d like to add that I was a 90’s teenager, brought up in the rebellion of 90’s grunge so the whole nu-grunge look is so right up my alley!!

Firstly you have to admire the thought and passion that has gone into creating this palette, nowhere on its design or actually product does it skimp. The whole palette is chunky with a thick cardboard outer that opens as a lid, revealing a mirror on its inside. Painted/printed in a neo classical style of Venus with only Doe Deere’s trademarked hair colour (well her colour at the time of release, that girl is changing her hair colour more than I do) trimmed in gold like etching and worded in foiled gold effect, it’s just a piece of art in my eyes. Inside the colours don’t look that exciting to those who prefer bright and shimmery colours, but for those who love the smoky eye, smudge eye and grunge/goth looks, here is 8 beautiful baked and pressed, highly pigmented nu-grunge colours of new-tral hues.

Venus: the burgundy red matte that once applied to your skin takes a deep rose look

Shell: the slight shimmer of the set, a soft pink pearly colour

Aura: the light of the pack, a pearly off white shimmer

Creation: what I call the base of all, it’s a rusty brown matte that works best as a base to any looks using this palette

Icon: the darkest chocolate matte hue I have ever had, it’s also my favourite of the palette, I’ve used as a whole lid colour for smoky eyes, as a liner dry to smudge, and also wet as a sharp crisp liner

Rebirth: a red pink matte that is great as a filler on lids for those nude days

Divine: the milk chocolate matte that is a great accent colour, and I love wearing this with Venus

Muse: the richer red matte that smudges back to a soft warm red, or go bold for a deep red line once wet down and used as a liner

The colours are fantastic in my opinion and have created many, many looks with just these 8 colours, the fact that this baked eye shadows can be used as they are dry with a brush, but then take a brush wet down slightly and it becomes a totally different application and deeper, richer colour. I can honestly say that since I brought this palette I have worn it every single day in one way or another. With or without a primer these colours are intense, long lasting, once applied can be both set fast, or with a stiff smudge brush they are still creamy enough to blend and smudge into the most grunge full eyed looks, think smoky eye but blended out to light edges, that are blurred all around the eye socket and that is the looks this palette was designed to create and does.

Might not be everyone’s taste but I love it and think out of all the palettes I own that this is a keeper I will be using until I hit pan, then I’d have to rebuy it.

Venus Palette

After hearing about the release of this palette i have to admit I wasn't exactly setting an alarm for its release date. The colors in this palette are somewhat unusual and stray away from my comfort zone.I was lucky enough to win this from Beautybliss.co.nz and boy am I so grateful that i did!!

Firstly I absolutely adore the packaging! Its very colorful and vibrant i especially love the reflective gold on the words and the frame. Its a very sturdy hard cardboard and has a magnetic closure. I also love that the woman in the picture looks like shes wearing eyeshadows from the actual palette. It has a nice big mirror with a gorgeous frame around it. Another bonus is that it has all the names written below each shade which is so convenient!

Every single eyeshadow is of such high quality. They are extremely pigmented and have a beautiful, creamy and buttery texture.I had never tried any eyeshadows by Lime Crime before so I was very pleasantly surprised. Even the matte shades are so easy to blend and not powdery at all which can often be the case. These are the most blendable shadows I have ever used. One time i had no brushes with me and managed to create a look with this palette using only my fingers! It turned out great and was blended flawlessly.

The colours are beautiful and most of them go together perfectly! However i do struggle with the two pinky shades (shell and rebirth). I find it difficult to make them work well with the other shades but that's just me. I really appreciate the amount of matte shades in this palette! Most of the times with palettes I'm always disappointed with the fact that there aren't enough matte shade (for my liking) so this was a huge plus for me.

Im so in love with this palette. I feel as though its very high quality and quiet versatile. In my opinion the shadows are better quality than my urban decay and too faced shadows. If you are thinking about purchasing and get the opportunity to i highly recommend you do!

The Palette of Goddesses

I umm'd and argh'd about whether or not to purchase this palette; like many I was distraught when Lime Crime stopped stocking NZ shelves but I since then I have continued to buy directly from them online. I read so many great reviews on this palette and watched countless tutorials on using it that eventually I just had to buy! and I wasn't disappointed! I feel as if I am still a beginner when it comes to blending etc so from a newbie's point of view the application of this palette came as a breeze! All colours go beautifully with one another ensuring a foolproof finish each and every time.

Immediately I was in awe of the packaging, its simply stunning! I was impressed by the quality of the eye shadows all of which were extremely pigmented and not crumbly at all. Each eyeshadow is individually named which is both cool and so helpful (particularly when following tutorials!).

I do feel as if I don't use this palette nearly as much as I would like too, perhaps this is because it does create a particular kind of look (grunge) no matter what combination used. But regardless of this I am so happy I have this in my collection and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

Colours are to die for!

This palette was my first experience with Lime Crime eyeshadows, and for the most part I wasn't disappointed. 7/8 shades are decently pigmented and easy to work with. Venus: slightly shimmery dark red/burgundy, very pigmented Shell: glowy pink duochrome, pretty pigmented Aura: glowy champagne/gold, pretty pigmented Crration: burnt orange/brown, very pigmented Icon: weird shimmery brown, extremely sheer (worst shade in the palette) Rebirth: bright shimmery coral/pink, very pigmented Divine: light purple/brown, good crease colour, buildable pigment Muse: deep red, very pigmented but slightly weird texture, almost like tiny crumbs

Overall this is a pretty good palette, I love the colours, the shade names are cute and the packaging is gorgeous. It's a very well thought out palette but I wish the brown was matte and actually pigmented. It's barely useable, so that's really disappointing. For a vegan and cruelty free palette, it's definitely a great option if you like warmer toned shadows. I'd definitely recommend it despite the few problems it has.
