Where have you been all my life

This is currently my 'go to' foundation & I just love it. I have to admit that I have never been too keen on the price tags of these type of luxury brand cosmetics but after grabbing a sample size & being so impressed I bit the bullet and got a full sized. Im the shade Ecur and it is a near perfect match for my skin tone. Far better than any previous foundation I have used. The finish is matte but not drying. I find that it blends super easy (I apply with a flat top kabuki brush) but you do have to work quite quickly as it can dry a little faster than some liquids. However what I love best about this product is that it really does stay on all day. Im a serial face rubber during the day but this really wont rub off. The only thing I do find is it can get slightly greasy looking on my forehead later in the day (most likely due to that being the place I rub the most when stressed at work. Also I think it could be a tad more helpful if it was in a pump top bottle instead of just a screw top, but again the frosted glass bottle & gold coloured cap still makes it appear elegant. All in all I would happily pay for this time & again because for once I have really found something worth the price.

Tips: Less is more, start with a light application & you can always add more. You really wont need much :)

My understanding is that they have a couple of different formulations and I I believe I saw one for dry skin :)

I have heard sooo many rave reviews about this and your review has pushed me into wanting to try it. Do you think it would be ok for dry skin?

Lasts all Day and Covers Imperfections

This is the first foundation that I've tried that has matched my skin tone the most. I currently own Revlon Colorstay however the colour is a bit too red toned for me (Caramel shade) however Estee Lauder Double wear have shades that can well adapt to my skin tone (unlike Colorstay which in fact oxidises and looks a different shade to what I applied). Apart from the shade itself, the foundation is extremely good. Doesn't look cakey and a little goes a LONG way. The foundation has quite a matte finish which I thought would effect my dry skin but really doesn't. It's quite lightweight but provides good amount of coverage and covers up my pimple scars and discolouration on my face. Easy to blend... IN LOVE!

Tips: - Remember a little goes a long way so put on a layer and see how it works for you then keep on going until you're satisfied with the coverage.

Conflicted...

The staying power of this foundation is immaculate! However I have a few criticisms... If you want a fuller coverage you will need a couple of applications around redness and blemishes, and it can stick to peach fuzz quite a bit. Other than that it's amazing for oilier skin, would not recommend for dry skin though.

I have some dry patches on my face and I think it works fine. I guess a moisturizer before hand is always a good option. Just give the moisturizer a little time to soak in or your foundation may ball up, depending.

Perfect!

I found out about the 10 day trial for this from a Forum here on BR and popped in to the local Farmers to see if it was true. The lady who served me was amazingly helpful and instantly matched me with the lightest shade, Ivory Nude. Not expecting much as I've never actually found a colour that matches my skin, I was very pleasantly surprised to not be able to tell I was wearing it except my skin looked flawless. I have very dry skin and was warned about this product but so far I have no complaints, I have no problem slapping on a bit more moisturiser every morning. Will definitely be purchasing this product, feels amazing, lasts, and doesn't smell terrible. It is also very light weight.

Tips: People with dry skin may need a bit more moisturiser under this foundation.

Perfect Foundation - It actually exists?

After a lot of talk about Estee Lauder Doublewear on Social Media sites, I decided to stop hearing about everyone talk about how amazing it is and actually go try it! Before purchasing the product I got a sample, which I recommend with any foundation as your colour in store won't always be the same in natural lighting.

Day 1: I feel in love, it applied perfectly. I always always like a foundation I can apply a small amount and build up, and I found Estee Lauder Doublewear allowed this.

Now, my biggest want out of a foundation is how long it can last. With Combination Oily/Normal skin I get a lot of problems with foundation lasting longer than till my first morning break! I checked on my foundation part way through the day to be shocked it was still sitting on my nose, let alone the rest of my face. By 5pm, it was not far off still being as perfect as I had applied that morning.

So this is a 10/10, it's a bit pricy but to me it's perfect. I don't have to worry all day about foundation missing off my nose and looking like a clown, I don't have to worry about touching up throughout the day.

Tips: I recommend a good primer and a good setting powder, grab a sample for Estee Lauder to get the perfect match before spending $80! x

Worth Every Penny!

I'm on my third bottle of this bad boy, which has NEVER happened before, so that says a lot!

Double Wear definitely has some spectacular staying power going on (incredibly important for my combination oily skin - even most long wear foundations start sliding off my forehead by late afternoon, but not Double Wear!), and despite being what I would consider a mid to full coverage foundation it's still surprisingly buildable, so when I'm having a rare good skin day I can use a very light hand and get a lovely natural 'barely there' look. Alternatively, you can really build it up for a flawless, airbrushed look for events and parties.

Most days, though, a normal application of the mid-full cover is fantastic for my acne-prone, ruddy skin and evens things out beautifully without sitting heavily on the skin like a lot of fuller coverage foundations do. A lot of them tend to look or feel 'cakey', but I don't find that with the Double Wear at all.

My only lament is that while they have a fantastic range of colours, they just don't quite go yellow enough for my skin tone - but I make it work with some peach toned bronzer on my neck and chest!

Tips: You definitely want to use a brush or sponge for a really flawless application, and while you don't have to RUSH like you do with some foundations, if it does dry it becomes fairly difficult to blend so you do want to work moderately quickly.

Their colours have a tendency to oxidise a bit, so they can change colour a smidge over the first half an hour or so of wear - so make sure you go to a pharmacy or department store that will let you take a sample pottle away to make sure you've got the right colour match!

Oh, and make sure you moisturise 10 minutes before you apply - I find it harder to work with if my skin is too dry!

Long lasting foundation

The hype about this foundation is all over the internet! It's been holy grail product to every single makeup girls I watch on youtube! I did not jump in the bandwagon when everyone was talking about how great this foundation because at that time I thought I already found the foundation that works great on my skin type. For reference, I have very oily/acne-prone skin. Clearly it is harder than it looks to find a good foundation that won't slip and slide as well as control shine through out the day.

It took me a little over 2 years to finally bit the bullet and purchase my first ever Estee Lauder foundation! First off, the shade selection is amazing that you can easily find the shade that will spot on match your skin tone. Ranging from pink undertones, yellow undertones, olive, dark undertones they have it all! Normally, you have to either mix 2 shades to get a perfect shade or go a tad lighter but not this foundation!

It comes in a glass bottle which is makes it luxurious. However, it does not come with a pump which can get a little messy and frustrating but that does not really bother me.

The texture of the foundation is thick and I find that it sets quickly so you have to apply it fast other wise you'll get a patchy application. It has a chemically scent to it which is sort of similar to MAC foundations and Revlon Color Stay.

It claims to last through humidity and heat also a built SPF 10 to protect the skin from UV rays. I have worn this foundation through out my trip in Birsbane and it suppressed the humidity and sweat! I'm overly amazed because it did not slide or move or smudge! For it being thick and full coverage foundation, it looked natural and it looks exactly the same as when you applied it through out the day! I even wore this foundation when I played tennis under the sun! It is great in controlling the oils from my face!

The finish is matte that I don't even have to set it with powder! I use Laura Mercier primer underneath or the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. If I want less coverage and a bit of dew, I mix it with my face moisturizer which then gives you a BB cream texture. I like the method for everyday wear as it gives a bit of coverage and lasts all day!

The price can be a it of a downer but this foundation is absolutely amazing! Highly recommend to all my oily skin girls who is on the hunt for a great foundation!

Tips: Best way is to apply it with a wet sponge, or spritz a flat top brush with fix plus or a facial spray to sheer out the application.

Basically, you need this in your life.

Double Wear is my holy grail long wearing medium/high coverage foundation it does everything it says on the bottle, I can wear this al day at work and then onto the bars on a Friday night with minimal touch ups. Even better, the shade range is great and easy to understand with the undertones labeled on the bottle. I have neutral undertones and am pale as a ghost and 1N1 Ecru is perfection. Bottom line: definitely worth the hefty price tag

Tips: There are a bajillion (ok, not really) colours, get matched at your local counter, better yet ask for a sample so you can be super sure before you invest your $80.

The bottles come without a pump but a MAC pump will fit the bottle (I swear by this, stops you using too much product)

I find this applies best with a beauty blender (or something similar) but a flat top kabuki will do a good job too!

I have super large pores and this foundation pairs amazingly with Benefit's porefessional but I have had patchy coverage over other silicone-y primers, so test first!

The One

Double wear definitely makes it into my top 5 favourite foundations (ok I'm a foundation hoarder) it's not my number one but it's definitely worth every cent! I really found that it was severely over hyped though, it's a beautiful foundation with great coverage but you do require a good primer and great application technique to make it work perfectly on your skin. I never reach for DW when I'm in a rush! However I love the slightly matte finish it gives my skin when I get it just right. It has good staying power when powdered down, even though I am fairly oily. I also find it very reasonably priced now EL dropped the prices!

Best foundation I have used

I purchased this late last year (and still have some left!) This is my favourite foundation - it has a full coverage. The product lasts a very long time as a little goes a long way. Estee Lauder have really done us girls proud creating such a long lasting flawless foundation. I will keep re-purchasing.

Tips: I use this product with my beauty blender. Perfect every time!
