Lash Serum

Firstly, I have to say thank you to Beauty Review for the chance to trial a new product. I always feel quite lucky to trial products and write reviews on them.

I was super excited to be chosen for a lash serum trial, I mean who dosent want long, thick gorgeous lashes?

The claims on the packaging are

94% agreed lashes look fortified,

97% saw less lash loss

81% agreed fringe looks fuller.

This particular lash serum comes in a thin round tube, almost pen like. To use, you take the top off and twist the bottom and the serum comes out of the top which has a brush. I had to twist for quite sometime to produce the serum, at almost the giving up point, the clear serum appeared in the brush. The serum is quite hard to see as it comes out as it is a clear liquid and the brush is almost clear as well. I felt the dispensing method could have been quite wasteful because as you twist to get the serum out, sometimes a whole lot came out and you couldnt really use the whole lot.

The instructions say to brush onto your upper and lower lashes in the morning and evening.

I did this morning and evening for around 4 weeks, then it ran out, A bit disapointing really as other lash serums I have used has lasted a lot longer, however I only used my usual serum once a day but I still think this one did not last as long.

I waited and waited for my lashes to show some sort of improvment such as becoming thicker and not having so many fall out as I take off my eye make up. I have posted before and after photos on the photo wall and as you can see, sadly there is no notable difference. My lashes are not thicker, I am still losing lashes when I remove my eye make up.

I absolutely wanted to love this product as I adore so many products from this company, and this is the first product I have not had the desired results from.

I have used another lash serum in the past and have had awesome results so for me, I will be sticking to that one.

Tips: Twist slowly as the serum can come out quickley and you could possibly waste some.

Truly Terrible

I tried this as I had been using another lash serum for the past couple of years and thought I'd give this a go as a change.

The packaging on this is laughably bad. The applicator is enormous - far too large for your lash line and when you twist the base the product comes out in massive blobs or nothing at all. Loreal make many liquid eyeliners I don't know why they didn't copy the packaging of one of these. I've been using this for about 4 weeks now and my lashes are shorter than they have been in years (which means they are returning to their normal length as I had been using another lash product). Don't do it.

Tips: Spend the extra $20 and buy Flash Lash - it actually works.

Not convinced

After trialling the product for just over 30 days, I’m left feeling unconvinced with my average looking lashes. In fairness, lash serums I’ve used in the past, took effect after 2 months, so it’s quite possible that it could be the same case for this product.

Although this was a 60 day trial, the serum only lasted just over a month. The product comes in a pen-like applicator where you twist the pen to dispense the serum. Here is where the problem lies for me. I love that it’s really easy to apply with the soft synthetic brush pen but I felt that I didn’t have any control on the amount of product dispensed. If you twist one too many times you end up with an excess amount - and there’s only so many lash roots to coat.

I applied the product to the top and bottom lash roots before mascara in the morning and at night after cleaning my face. I have sensitive eyes and I didn’t experience any stinging sensation, instead I felt a nice cooling effect. During the time of my trial, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn’t see much of my lashes coming away when removing my eye makeup. I understand there’s a lash cycle however I didn’t see as many lashes on the cotton pads as I would normally expect.

Despite this tiny highlight, I wouldn’t go out and buy this product again mainly due to the applicator. You don’t have any indication of how much product is left, at least with lash serums that use a brush applicator you can gage when to hit the stores to pick up your back up. In addition to that I didn’t notice any difference in how my lashes looked.

Tips: Twist the pen 2 times then wait to see if product is dispensed, once you know for sure no product has come out then twist the pen once and verify again (you'll save yourself from wasting product) - repeat.

Not quite what I expected sadly

I bought this product in a set in Australia, and was super excited to try it out considering all the hype. However, I was slightly disappointed.

This product comes in a white and silver tube, it has a flexible brush applicator and when you twist the bottom product is dispensed. It is a clear gel, which dries down fast.

I started using this product twice a day when I got it, however it resulted in some irritation and swelling after a couple of weeks so I had to stop using this. I do believe this is an individual reaction, as reading other reviews it does not seem many others have had this issue. This was disappointing though, as I could see the condition of my lashes improving but I had to stop.

I would not purchase this again for that reason, however, it was good while it lasted and is a great budget option for a lash serum.

Not sure

Worked for me... kind of. Strong and thick lashes as a result but longer? No So I'm very on the fence with this product

On the fence with this one

I can't really see a difference TBH and I have thin short lashes already. As it's pretty cost effective when you buy at Chemist Warehouse I'll probably give it another go and make sure I apply it morning and night (I forgot some mornings). It's easy to apply although sometimes takes quite a few turns of the pen to get any product out. Looks like others do see a result so I'd say give it a try.

L'oreal Clinically Healthy Lashes, Not Much Growth

I was really excited to be on this trial team as I love, love, love lash serums and am always eager to try one that will give me outrageous growth, length and fullness. Now before I go further into this review I need to give a bit of a background on myself so you have an idea of what sort of challenges lash serums I use are up against. I've struggled with trich for the majority of my life. Trich is an OC disorder where you pull your hair. Unfortunately the main hairs I've pulled when I started when I was really young was my lashes and I still struggle from time to time with pulling them. The repeated pulling over the years means that when they slowly grow back in the growth is naturally sparse, the lashes are super fine and because they've been pulled out so many times I've actually lost a little bit of the length naturally. Alright back to the review.

So with this lash serum you have to apply this morning and night to clean lash lines before applying makeup or mascara. It comes in pen with a brush on one end and you crank the bottom to get the serum on to the brush. I liked the idea that the product is I guess fresher since you're only cranking it up as you need it. However it's a bit tricky since the product comes out so slowly that you don't know if you cranked up too much till it comes out and I ended up wasting product a few times since as once you've completed your application the remaining product sits on the brush applicator and if you store it with brush end down then it just drips into the cap or if you store it with the brush end up then it just drips down the capped part of the applicator. I like that the serum is thick enough so that it doesn't drip into your eyes immediately after application but on the days that I applied too much and it did come in contact with my eyeballs it didn't sting them. In fact the whole duration of the trial I didn't have any irritation at all. The viscosity of the serum makes the brush hairs splay out in opposite directions so you are applying the serum with two brush points, if that makes sense. Despite that I didn't find the brush too pokey or rough for my lash line. The ingredients in this lash serum are - water, alcohol denat, hydroxyethylcellulose, pentylene glycol, aminopropyl triethoxysilane, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, madecassoside, phenoxyethanol, polysobate 21, lactic acid, methylparaben, castor seed oil, sodium hylauronate, arginine, serine, citric acid, pathenol, glutanic acid, threonine, proline, alanine, cysteine (FIL B210573/1). I kept a log of the results I got weekly from this lash serum.

Week 1 Don't really see any results but very few lash serums give results after one week.

Week 2 My lashes seem to be a bit softer and less prone to breaking at the tips. I haven't seen an increase in length or fullness that is out of the norm.

Tips: Week 3 My lashes are growing and filling out a bit more. I did have quite a bit of trich shortly before I started this trial so I think it is possible that my lashes are growing back like they would. They are a bit softer and little less prone to breakage which for someone with trich is a good thing as I do tug on my lashes a fair bit.

Week 4 Continued growth the bald spots are getting a bit of peach fuzz as the lashline is getting more growth. The slightly longer lashes are soft and a bit more noticeable I think the lash serum is helping a tiny bit with the conditioning.

Week 5 Same as week 4. Not much difference in length. The peach fuzz is growing a bit.

Week 6 No noticeable difference for me between now and week 5.

Week 7 My full length lashes are still the same length. The short stubby ones that have grown back in are growing but I think that's just my natural lash growth.

7 and a Half Weeks I have enough lashes and enough length to wear mascara on my top and bottom lashes and look like a normal person with just naturally sparse short lashes.

So in conclusion, I think this is a good lash serum/conditioner. While my lashes did mostly grow back naturally this aided them in staying conditioned and healthy. One thing that this did out perform the other lash serum in is I noticed that the lashes didn't grow in pointing sideways or poking me in the eye, everything grew in the correct natural direction. Personally I have gotten faster results using another lash serum so I will probably go back to using that once I've completed using this for 90 days.

Tips: This would probably suit someone who just wants a nice lash conditioner to maintain their lashes and slow down the amount of breakage you get from the daily wear you get from wearing and removing mascara. But if you have damaged your lashes permanently then you probably need a lash serum with a lot more active ingredients to see dramatic results.

Beautiful Lashes

I was so stoked to be chosen for this trial . My lashes are quite sparse not really thick or full . Over the course of two to three months I used this lash serum morning and night . I wear make up to work most days .

Packaging I thought wasn’t really eye catching to look at . Very Basic . This is shaped like a pen . This is like a liquid gel that’s clear . There’s no scent at all .

Application wise it seems to blob out on to my lashes . I wish this was a spoolie . I think it would have spread through each lash better . Anyway I wore this under my mascara each day .

My results were that my top lashes did become slightly fuller in appearance . My bottom lashes no real change for me . Still looking sparse . I’ve never tried lash serums before . I’ve always been skeptical about them .

Overall I can’t really see myself using this again. I don’t have the patience to wait for results. I think I would rather go back to false eyelashes instead .

For healthier natural lashes....

I've always been a fan of lash serums. Prior to this trial I was using Lilash - and had been using it for over 6 months - so for this trial I was starting with relatively long lashes. (Before After photos will be on Photowall). In these photos I have been using the product for exactly 60 days. The packaging suggests the best results are seen at about 8-12 weeks which is about right with my results at just over 8 weeks.

The L'oreal lash serum comes in a small box with all it's clinical results written over the front. The thing I noticed about the statistics is that this serum didn't make any claims on longer lashes - instead the product focused on reduced lash loss, improving the look of your lashes so they look thicker and fuller on the ends. Like it says on the box - this is a 'Lash-Caring' product. And on those claims, I found that this product does deliver. If you're thinking of a product to deliver longer lashes - then this product isn't about that.

The applicator itself, I love. It's a pen with a brush on one end, and a winder to disburse product on the other end. You wind the end about 3-4 clicks to get product on the brush. I generally wound it just enough so the brush felt slightly wet - and maybe an extra click to do the second eye. Application is easy - just brush along the base of the lashes - top and bottom. I found the formula didn't irritate or sting - and after a couple of minutes it had absorbed/dried really well and mascara applied without issue.

The results themselves - I didn't notice changes too much until maybe the 6 week mark. I had expected that all my lash growth from the previous product would diminish and it did taper back a little, which was a little sad, but in saying that the health of my lashes still looked pretty good and better than when I use no lash serum product. I hadn't had a lash tint in that 60 days, whereas Day 1 of this trial my lashes were freshly tinted but no mascara. Day 60 photos are natural lashes, no tint, no mascara.

Eye lash loss is trickier because I don't generally notice losing lashes but I don't feel I lost more lashes that when I used other products.

Overall, for my lashes without a lash tint I was impressed they'd retained most of their thickness and looked healthy. Although there was no lengthening benefits I didn't lose all the length I'd gained from the other serum.

I like really long lashes at the moment, so while product wouldn't be my product of choice now. I'd likely buy it if I want to return to more natural healthy looking lashes. The price point is very good compared to lash growth serums. It's a great option for someone with a tighter budget.

I will continue it till its finished. I'm curious as to how much thicker looking the lashes can get and may pick it up when I tire of my long lashes leaving mascara on my upper lids.

Thank you BR for a fabulous trial product.

Tips: Store standing up on its brush end to ensure product stays at the right end.

Use morning and night as per packaging.

Lilash will thicken your lashes too on its own too - I love that product. I just got my lashes tinted & I've back to using Lilash & I've kept going with L'oreal too - so we will see if it gives them an extra boost!! I'd love a little length back

I’m using LiLash so curious to see if you find this thickens the lashes as well - it may be a good companion product? Long AND thick eyelashes would be incredible right?!

Lush lashes

I have been looking at investing in a lash serum for a while now, so this came at a good time! My lashes are fairly short, thin and straight, so I was really keen to see what difference this serum could make.

The packaging is white and silver plastic- it has a brush at one end (and a lid that covers it) and a twist bottom. I didn’t mind the colour scheme although I think it looks a little on the cheap side. I am not a fan of products where the product is dispensed by twisting the bottom as I usually find them quite difficult to use, and this was no different. It was really hard to control the amount of product that comes out; some times twisting it to 3 clicks would give me the right amount of product, other times nothing came out so I would twist more and still nothing would come out… A few times I twisted it several times, much more than I usually would, and still no product came out? There was plenty of product in it as well, so this was confusing. I tried finding a certain number of clicks to see if that would help, but the amount of product dispensed would always be inconsistent so I gave up and guessed each time.

The applicator is a brush tip which I found was too big. Applying the product on my eyelid just above my lash line (as per the instructions) I found that it made a thick line on my eyelid. I think a wand type applicator with a much smaller brush on the end (so you can paint it on, it that makes sense) would be more precise and easier to use.

The texture of the serum was nice and smooth and spread easily. I did find that after I had applied it at night, when I woke in the morning I would have some sticky residue on my eyelashes and sometimes on my skin- I am not sure whether I applied too much product or if I got too much of it on my lashes? It didn’t bother me too much, but it was just annoying.

After using this regularly (I was pretty consistently applying it twice a day, although there was definitely a morning or two I missed when I was in a rush!) for two months, I have noticed a difference in my lashes! They are definitely longer, thicker and fuller looking. They are also a bit more naturally curled at the ends, before they were pretty straight. When wearing mascara, I have had compliments about how good my lashes look as well!

All in all, this did work for me and I was able to see a noticeable change in my lashes, however I didn’t personally like the packaging with the twist at the bottom and the size of brush. This is much cheaper than many of the other lash serums out there so it’s really good if you’re on a tight budget, and the formula itself was good. I am not sure that I would repurchase this, as I just didn’t love it, so would be keen so try the other serums out there.
