Good for the price

These are the classic balms, and for the price you can't really go wrong. I always loved the strawberry ones, the cute pink colour and delish scent.

However, they were just a barrier on my lips and not a proper moisturising balm. If I am in a pinch I'll use these, but they do end up making my lips drier when I stop using them.

I'll stick to my Neutrogena Naturals and Trilogy Everything Balm.

Chapstick Chapstick

I don't really use Chapstick that much, or any other lip balm really. It does what it states - protects your lips especially during winter, but I wouldn't say it'll moisturize. One thing with any lip balm is that it forms a film over you lips so you think it's more moisturised, but it doesn't actually do any moisturising just prevents the lips from losing more moisture. My lips do feel quite greasy or waxy after you use it, which is why I don't use it that much. I've tried quite a few different ones from the Chapsticks range but I find they all leave that same greasy effect. Although it does say use frequently, but if you use a lip balm more than three or four times a day, then it can make you lips more dry!!

Tips: If you have chronic dry lips then you should try drinking more water

Reverse effect on my lips

I don't know anyone from my childhood who hasn't come across this product. Unfortunately for me this chapstick had the reverse effect on my lips.

I used to buy this earlier on in high school from the supermarket. I can't recall how much it was back then but it was affordable. I would buy this whether I had chapped lips or not and what I found was that if I used it when my lips were fine; I'd eventually get chapped lips. If I used it when my lips were chapped, my lips would remain chapped and become worse.

The stupid thing is I never quite latched onto that until I had gone through a few. Back then I just didn't think too much about products not working for everyone - if it said it would moisturise the lips I believed it would work (oh to be young and naive again haha).

They come in a small cylindrical white tube and are very easy to lose in your bag (even in your school pockets)!? I think I repurchased a few just because I had lost them only for them to turn up once I did some more digging. I always used to get the strawberry scent because it was kind on the nose but not on the taste buds. When applying it did go on smoothly; it wasn't too sticky but there were times where I put way too much and found that it was quite tacky.

Aside from drying out my lips it was annoying once I hit pan because there was actually quite a bit of product left below so I'd try and scrape out what's left. Since then I've found a product that works for me; but personally I don't see people missing out on anything with this chapstick.

Ruins my lips

After extended use and then trying different lipbalms I have found that chapstick actually dries out my lips!! It provides a nice nourishing feeling after you put it on which lasts about an hour. But even then when you rub your lips together you can feel the waxy film on your lips creating a barrier between them and the world. Because of that waxy feeling I usually found that I ended up waiting until my lips started feeling dry, wiping off the excess waxyness, and then started the cycle all over again. Definitely not for me, I need a balm that is much more moisturizing.

Doesn't really moisterise dry lips..

I've tried Chapstick in the past and been disappointed - I've had to constantly reapply it to actually keep my lips moist. I now found products lip papaya ointment much more effective.

Very drying not moisturizing

I used this many years ago but felt I had to keep applying it all the time as my lips didn't feel very moisurized, then eventually they started peeling so didn't think that was right. I stopped using it after a couple days as I felt it was the complete opposite of what it was supposed to do. I later found out it has methylparaben and propylparaben and the strawberry contains a small amount of aluminum so not good for my lips.

Chap yuck

This has got to be the worst lip balm I have ever tried. A friend gave me hers as she didn't like it. First off, the smell is horrid (rather like industrial grease). Then it goes on very thick and makes your lips feel like they are wearing a layer of goop. Not for me thanks!

Poor quality

Not a fan of these at all. Cheap and do not work. Flavours are nice especially the strawberry/ raspberry. Even gives your lips a nice tint. However they don’t last and make your lips more dry than they were to begin with which of course means you need to use more and more product
