I've been using Carmex after a stranger in the supermarket recommended I try it, and I am so grateful she did! It's the longest lasting balm I've used and it got me through winter without the dry or wind-burnt lips like I usually have. However, after using it for a few months, I've found it doesn't moisturise my lips as well as my usual Blistex balm, so I now use this as more of a repair balm than an everyday one. The tingly sensation after applying is quite odd and took me a little getting used to, and I'm not a massive fan of the scent/taste, but the texture is great and it works really quickly- my lips were noticeably less chapped within a few hours after I first applied it. I have it in the stick format which makes it super easy to carry around and use. It won't be for everyone, but I would definitely recommend you give it a go!

Carmex Lip Balm
Carmex lip balm contains a unique blend of ingredients, including natural moisturisers such as cocoa butter and lanolin. These and other emollients give you healthy-looking lips by moistening and preventing dryness and chapping associated with the effects of the environment.
Carmex helps to soothe, moisturise and relieve dry, chapped lips caused by the elements. Apply Carmex liberally and evenly as often as necessary throughout the day.
Carmex contains camphor and menthol. These ingredients give Carmex a cooling effect and soothe rough, chapped lips caused by environmental factors – encouraging a healthy appearance that feels as good as it looks.
Available in a jar, tube or stick.

I did not realize that this was actually for cold sores aka oral herpes just a lip balm. I have used the mango and peach type. When I got all of the directions and what was in it etc was in another language. I had no idea what was in it until I read the description above. I assumed the product was basically petrolium jelly. I have tried the mango and peach and the strawberry which to me smell like the scent is very artificial. I did notice the cooling sensation which would be from the menthol I would say which is nice but it did not last. The texture of this feels a little bit gritty too not smooth so I think the grit would exfoliate some of the dead skin as well as provide hydration for the lips. I could also smell the lanolin too which comes from sheep and is often used to relieve cracked nipples. I will continue to use these tubes up and noticed the product does sit on the lips and lasts for hours so you do not need to keep applying but I am not totally sold on it. The look of it on the lips is like a 90s clear lipgloss its very shiny. It would be ideal to use over a lipstick to give it a gloss look or mix to make a tinted lip gloss. I just dont love the texture and fake smell. The price is fine for what it does though in terms of keeping lips moist and un chapping them. I would be keen to try plain versions or other scents from the brand. No issues with the packaging
This product has both good and bad qualities. Firstly I like the texture and the thick consistency and application is smooth. I like the initial slight vanilla scent, but then it changes and the taste and smell make me feel sick. It leaves my lips soft for a while which is nice and the slight tingle from the menthol is not unpleasant, I also like that the tube is bright yellow and red so its hard to loose in my bag. I just find the smell and taste that I get in my mouth when I use this really unpleasant.
I used this on my sunburnt chapped lips and it healed them but the taste and smell wasn't great. I would use this again but only in dire circumstances
The Carmex Lip Balm is a super nourishing, softening balm. I really like this product, although for several reasons I don't think I will be purchasing again.
Firstly, the packaging isn't that appealing. I'm a girly girl at heart, and for me bright red on bright yellow just doesn't quite do it. I also received the jar-style packaging of this product, and I naturally don't really like lip balms in jars.
The lip balm itself has a really nice consistency, however, and immediately feels nourishing and nurturing on your lips. It does, however, smell VERY strongly of menthol product! Was not expecting that. It also had a tingly effect on my lips, causing them to plump out considerably.
Other than that, however, this balm is long lasting and definitely helps to soften up my lips when I apply it overnight.
Tips: Use in conjunction with a lip scrub for extra smooth lips!
I bought the one in the jar. The balm is a pale yellow colour and comes in a white jar with a bright yellow screw top lid. Once applied, the balm appears clear on the lips and has a similar consistency to vaseline (petroleum jelly).
The camphor and menthol added to the balm to soothe severely dry lips gives it a minty smell and slight tingle on the lips when first applied, but the smell and tingle does go away after a few minutes. This product does not contain an SPF and can be a bit messy to apply, as you need to dip your finger into the jar to apply it to your lips.
It's not a bad lip balm and does the job, but I would not purchase another jar, I may try the tube instead.
Tips: Exfoliate your lips with a wash cloth or toothbrush to get rid of flaky skin before applying this to soothe and moisturise.
Glad to read the reviews below which say they also had the tingling feeling - thought it was just me when I gave some to a friend who said they didn't feel anything! Despite the tingling, which isn't a bad feeling, I like the Carmex Lip Balm which is mositurising and the methanol smell is refreshing. However, I can't use this when at night because the tingling feeling keeps me awake - only bad thing about this product (Plus the packaging is a bit outrageous for me).
I got this the other day as I was out walking and my lip's got so dry and sore from the wind I had to try this as It was on special aswell as because I've read such good reviews on here about it. I got the one In a stick, My first Impression was I enjoyed the smell, I can't really describe It but I liked It. The price was reasonable at $4.00. As soon as i applied it on my lip's the stinging and dryness instantly disapeared after first use, which impressed me hugely. The downfall for me with this product though is that it's pretty much vasaline made for your lip's. I found It did'nt absorb into my lip's but just sat ontop on the skin. It also contains petroltum, So that made me get put off by that alittle bit. To me It's pretty much just vasoline in a stick. I will use it though when my lip's are shockling dry and sore from windburn.
Tips: It's a good product, Does what it say's,affordable, But only apply alittle at a time otherwise you may get an oily feel residue on your lip's
I found that this lip balm is really good when travelling in different climates, as it does a fantastic job of keeping your lips moisturised. I wouldn't use it on a day to day basis as I find stick lip balms much easier to use. Other than that its a great product.
Whilst I carry this product on in my handbag I must admit that I prefer the cherry Carmex by far. I find this product feels a little heavy and greasy when I put it on. I do however love Carmex and it does work to relieve rough, dry and chapped lips. I would love it if I could get the Cherry Carmex in the tube as I find the tub gets sand, dust and fluff stuck in the lid where the tube is much better. The tube also holds more.
