Very hydrating moisturising cream!

This super hydrating and creamy formula is perfect for trapping in moisture for very dry and sensitive skin. Only a small bit is needed (tip of your finger) to cover your entire face and décolletage. The combination of maqui berry, SyriCalm and calendula helps to calm any irritation or redness while protecting and nourishing your skin. The formula soaks in well to the skin without blocking any pores to leave skin feeling very smooth. It's important for me to have a moisturiser that is not too thick that it overloads my pores but is also very hydrating, I believe this product is pretty good at both of these when used correctly. There is a slight scent to the product that I can’t quite put my finger on to what it is but it is most definitely not unpleasant. It took a little bit of trial and error for me to use this cream during the day. I found that if I used the same amount of the cream in the morning as I did at night it was too greasy under my makeup. However after a few goes and using the cream very sparingly, building it up, I was able to find a good balance of having hydrated skin as well as working well under make up. It’s not as much product as you think! Whereas at night I was able to be more generous with the product to almost create a mask to sleep with so I woke up with lovely hydrated skin.

Tips: For day time use, use very sparingly for a lighter coverage and allow to properly soak in before adding makeup as the combination can look a little greasy. For night time use, be more generous for a hydrating mask as you sleep. Your skin will thank you in the morning! If you have any extra dry patches on your face, massage an extra amount of the moisturising cream into them throughout the day to stop any dryness occurring. I found it almost helped prevent those dry patches from coming back.

Wonderful but a little pricey

$50 something dollars for a 60ml moisturiser isn't really my idea of cheap, and me being me thought 'this better be good!' when I opened the packaging. Firstly, it's awesome with sensitive skin. I must really commend Trilogy on their efforts with this range, Didn't get any negative reactions from my face. Yay!

It comes with a spatula, but I'm to lazy to have to wash the spatula after every use so I just use my fingers straight in the pot. I wash my hands as I wash my face anyway so it shouldn't be a big problem (right?). It's very thick in the jar, but surprisingly spreadable on your face. Even the size of a pea is slightly more than I need. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and satiny, with a slight glowing finish.

When using it I didn't notice a smell, which is another good thing since a lot of irritants in skincare are actually from the fragrance. It's well moistruring, and I can use it day and night. Although one thing to note is this has no spf, so do remember to add sunscreen over it in the day. I'm not sure if I'd continue with this in the summer where my skin starts leaning towards the oilier side. But this is definitely great for winter and autumn.

Overall a good daily moisturiser that feels relaxing to apply and does its job well. I like it a lot, but not quite enough to justify spending $50 when my $20 goodness every morning moisturiser does just as well. The luxury packaging is nice, but is it worth an extra thirty?

Trilogy moisturising cream

I really struggle to find a moisturising cream that is light enough for my face. This one came very close and I've been able to use it every second day which is good for me. It comes in a lovely amber coloured glass jar and has a spatula to scoop it out. It feels so silky and smooth and goes on the skin easily. It doesn't leave your skin greasy feeling and absorbs quickly. I enjoyed using this and will continue to do so

Tips: You really don't need a lot so the jar will go a long way I think which might almost justify the high price tag

Really hydrating

I've been using this moisturiser morning and night. This moisturiser hydrates your skin well. I have combination oily skin, however being winter I have dry patches on my cheeks. This moisturiser has controlled my skin and the dry patches have settled down. It has also been good as a night moisturiser aswell as a day dream. I usually only use face moisturisers in he morning and apply serums and night creams at night as they give more hydration. However I found that this product gave my skin enough hydration during the night. I must note that I used the oil in the range at night too. Someone with dry or dehydrated skin might not find this hydrating not enough at night time though.

The consistency is quite thick, more like a cream rather than a lotion. It's similar to the texture of a hydrating cream or a night cream. The texture is on the oily side too. Because this moisturiser is thick and a bit oily it does take a while to dry and settle into your skin. Therefore if you are wanting to apply your makeup straight on top you will need wait a while.

This moisturiser is very gentle making it perfecto sensitive skin. It hasn't irritated my skin or caused any reactions. This product doesn't have a scent either.

The packaging is a dark brown frosted glass tub. I like that it comes with a wee spatula to help you scrape the product out.

Overall I really like this moisturiser and it's great as a day and also night cream. I would definitely recommend this product to others, especially if you have sensitive skin. I think this product is suitable for all skin types too.

Great, but not quite for me

Firstly let me say that this cream is beautiful. It is effective and gentle and perfect for sensitive skin. My less than perfect review comes solely for it not being quite right for me in terms of what I need for a cream.

Yes, it works. And yes, it did wonders for my sensitive skin. It didn't irritate it, it helped heal it, and it felt lovely on my skin.

As a Mum of two toddlers though, I really need something that is multipurpose - a BB cream or at least a moisturising cream with SPF in it. I need multi-tasking every day creams so I can get out the door and on with dealing with the joys of parenthood. It might sound nit-picky, but as a parent, you'll understand.

That said, I can see that when my children are older, this cream could make it's way back in to my life.

It is light on the face, doesn't clog your pores and really helps soothe and heal sensitive spots like eczema etc. I didn't notice it helping with fine lines and wrinkles, but my husband said my face looked smoother so maybe it did?!

I'm not a fan of the glass jar or the spatula to apply it, but I understand why Trilogy has gone that way (cutting plastic/helping stop contamination). But it felt like the glass jar was exposing the cream to light and germs every time I opened it anyway.

Overall, a wonderful sensitive moisturising cream, but sadly, not quite what I need at this point.

Tips: A little really does go a very long way! I've barely made a dent in it almost a month later.

A Fantastic Winter Moisturiser

This is everything that you would hope a rich daily moisturiser to be - for winter. In summer on the other hand, I see this being too heavy and rich to use on my skin. We have the product in yet another glass jar, the texture is thick and creamy, this is not a light lotion, it is heavy, so you do need to use sparingly if you have combo skin. Even though this is a super rich cream, it is still easily absorbed. There is no scent, and there was no irritation when I used this, but I found this made my t-zone shine. And not in a good way. I am a little, Ok alot disappointed this has no SPF, even sensitive skin needs a shield against the New Zealand sun, being made in NZ I would have thought SPF in facial products, most certainly a daily facial moisturiser is a total Must and let's not confuse sensitive with super dry, these are two different issues. To me this gets 3/5 kisses, as it seems the issue of sensitive skin can be lost and confused with dry skin, after all not all of us sensitive Sally's have extremely dry skin.

Tips: This can double as a body moisturiser as well, and you will need to invest in a separate SPF product as this has none.

Deeply moisturising, but not for me

This is indeed a deeply moisturising cream, and does suit sensitive skin - I have had no irritation whatsoever. However, I find it really difficult to apply. Basically, it's just way too thick, and takes an age to absorb into the skin, even when straight out of a steaming shower, post cleansing and serum - it just sits on the surface of the skin for ages afterwards, despite all my massaging. To be fair, it has been good to my skin in all this chilly winter weather, and post-flu, and it helped clear up the chapping around my lips and nose. Hence I haven't given is super low stars. But I would not go out and buy this for myself, due to the thickness and difficulty in trying to get it to absorb. But if you have sensitive skin, and want a deeply moisturising product, and don't mind how long it takes to absorb, then this will suit you well.
