Difficult to use but lovely results

I picked this up in the vault to try as I enjoy matte lipsticks. This is one of those two step ones where you apply a liquid colour then a separate product to set it to become matte. This is a downside to the product for me as a regular matte is so easy to use and the two step idea makes it difficult to do quick touch-ups, and makes it tricky to apply and take a lot longer. The packaging is lovely on this, one end is printed with colourful lipstick prints, and one end is transparent with the lip paint colour showing through. This shade is a very dark scarlet red shade, darker than it appears in the packaging. The colour is so stunning and pigmented. The colour is step one and applies with a foam applicator. I found it awkward to apply as it's a glossy slippery liquid, although it's pigmented due to it not being a matte consistency it's so hard to get a neat and clean application with the colour, and I found it was so sticky it got on my teeth and my lips would pull the colour off themselves before I got to set it. I can get past this, but it definitely means this requires a lot of patience to apply, particularly with the colour being dark and not forgiving of mistakes. Step 2 is a clear product to apply with the foam applicator that turns the product matte. This works well and turns the product matte instantly, the only issue is you have to be careful to ensure you get the mattifying product over every part of your lips otherwise you'll get a patchy result if you miss a spot. It definitely made me miss a normal matte where I don't have to worry about my lips being fully matte or not. The mattifying product dries quickly and it really is truly transfer proof. I'm able to eat and drink wearing this and go out in heavy rain and it looks flawless. The product genuinely delivers on being very long-lasting and transfer proof. However, due to this, it is quite difficult to remove and I would recommend using an oil-based make up remover to get this off, as I found it was very very difficult to get this off with micellar water, which was a bit of a drawback for me as I can get standard matte products off with it, but I do expect difficulty removing transfer-proof products so this isn't unusual. Overall, this lip colour looked amazing and it delivered on its promises of being long-wearing and transfer proof. I will continue to use it when I have plenty of time to dedicate to my make up but this definitely isn't my favourite lip colour just due to the messiness and difficulty of application and that I can't just quickly touch this up. It's definitely more of a lip colour for special occassions for me as it isn't the most convenient product, but if I need a lip colour to last all night, I would definitely go for this.

Tips: Remove using an oil-based makeup remover!
