A really lovely daily moisturiser

I was really excited to receive this product to review, as I have never used any Dr. Lewinn's products before - they're quite expensive and I really can't be bothered reading about all the scientific claims and elusive ingredients. I also usually opt for day moisturisers that are on the cheaper side, lighter formulas and contain SPF.

I'm in my late 20s and I'm starting to see horizontal forehead lines and crow's feet develop, AT THE SAME time as still battling hormonal acne on my chin (currently using Differin gel from the doctor to clear it up) and pesky breakouts on my forehead. I was a bit worried that using this may cause my acne to flare up, but it has been fine.

At first glance I was worried that this would be far too heavy and thick for daily morning use, but I was pleasantly surprised that it feels like a combination of a cream and a gel. I also like that it is fragrance-free. It absorbs really quickly and my skin feels amazingly moisturised. I've been using it for a week so far and I can see a very slight difference in my skin, so I'm excited to see what it looks like after another week of use.

It's definitely changed my view on moisturisers from jars rather than bottles, and it feels like I am treating my skin every morning when I put it on! I would probably buy this again and am now keen to try other products from the brand.

Tips: I also use it like an eye contour cream and dab it under my eyes before applying to the rest of my face!

You only need a small amount, so the jar should last quite a while.

Best day cream i have used in a ling time.

The first think I noticed when I opened my parcel was how beautiful the packaging was. Its a durable plastic but looks like glass which gives it an expensive feel. The product has a air tight film on it and it reassured me that the active ingredients would remain nice and fresh.

I really enjoyed the smell, it reminds me of Greek yogurt its very subtle. It had a lovely thick feeling between the fingers similar to the traditional viscosity you would get with a heavy day cream but this is where the product starts to deviate from the normal.

Its very easy to use just apply a fair amount to the skin and massage it in. When you put it on is absorbs into the skin so quickly, it leaves absolutely no residue on the skin and its so lightweight you don't feel like your wearing anything.

After using this product for a week now my sin feels softer, plumper and my redness in my cheeks is becoming less visible.

As the cost is around the $50 mark it would be considered a high end product for me at the moment however, how it makes my skin feel and the lack of heaviness while wearing it definitely makes it worth the price point.

it is one of the only creams i have worn in a long time that i actually get excited to use again.

Definitely patch test this as my first application was very tingly, however it dissipated quickly and every application after that was absolutely fine.

Tips: Patch test first and allow product to soak into the skin.

Smooths and Hydrates

This gorgeous day cream was just the boost my skin needed during these drying winter months. Its beautiful expensive looking jar showcases an equally expensive feeling product. And at $NZ79.99, it is on the pricier side, but still not as expensive as some other products. It is rich and creamy, and decadent feeling, and glides on leaving my skin feeling smooth and hydrated, and hydration that lasts. I had some dry patches around my eyes, and my lips have been very dry, and this has smoothed them out in just a couple of days. It soothes and calms irritated skin, reducing redness and dryness. It feels cool on the skin. I started out using too much, as with the cheaper products I usually use I tend to need a little more, so this product is yet another more expensive item that will last longer than supermarket products. This was especially nice to use while we holidayed in the mountains, the cold air, plus heat from hot pools and fireplaces and airconditioning take a toll on the skin for sure! If you can afford DR. Lewinn's products, and need a hydration or anti-aging boost, I would recommend this for sure. I am keen to try more DR. Lewinn's products in this range now! Especially the skin protecting toning mist (love a good mist toner!) and the overnight barrier repair balm. They also do a cleanser and a mask in this range, the latter of which would be a great inexpensive way to try DR. Lewinn's.

Tips: It goes well under my BB cream or makeup, but I would recommend applying it to your face as soon as you wake up, after cleansing your face, and letting it set into your skin as it does leave my skin a little greasy and shiny at first. Go and have your coffee and get dressed then come back to apply your makeup. Once it absorbs fully you are ready to roll.

Game changing day cream!

Thanks to this trial I have discovered the difference between an $80 day cream and what I pick up on special for $10 at Countdown! When I started using the Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Cellular Defence Rich Replenishing Day Cream my mid-30's skin was looking truly awful thanks to the Winter elements. After my morning cleansing routine I apply a generous amount to my face and neck. It's calming, soothing and a beautiful consistency - not too thick or at all greasy and my skin just drinks in. After using it for two weeks my skin is certainly smoother, more hydrated and looking so much better! Make up also sits beautifully on top of it.

The only feedback I'd give is on the dispensing aspect of the packing. While it's a stunning frosted glass jar you do have to scoop your fingers in and the product out. One of those fancy push down attachments on the top to distribute just the right amount which I see some other Dr LeWinns products have would be perfect.

Kind on your face... not so much on your wallet.

My skin has been going through a very sensitive phase (I can't even wear perfume without it stinging) so I've had to overhaul my skincare to the most basic skincare, however I've had trouble finding a day moisturiser that I like, so I was excited to try this (thank you BR!)

Firstly, the packaging with its silver cap and ombre blue/clear pottle is BEAUTIFUL. The lotion is a thickish white consistency and didn't have a discernible scent. Seeing that it was free of alcohol and fragrance was a huge bonus and gave me great confidence that it would be a good match for my skin. Which it mostly was. The product sunk in beautifully and I experienced no redness and/or stinging (apart from one day, which I'm calling an anomaly), nor did I break out. There is a BUT. I usually use an oil along with my moisturiser but tried not to with this as it sounded like it was rich enough that I wouldn't need to - however, I did find that after twenty minutes of wearing it my skin would feel tight and adding an oil back into my regime helped my skin feel hydrated.

Overall I enjoyed the product and have since checked out the Recoverederm range on the Dr LeWinns site. I'm am keen to buy the cleanser, and toning mist and try them, unfortunately the moisturiser at $79.99 is more than I can justify, especially as I found it very good, but not exceptional.

Tips: Don't be afraid to use an oil with this moisturiser if you're not feeling hydrated enough.

Very hydrating and soothing!

I usually have a combination skin type. I have an oily T zone, dry patches on sides of my nose, forehead and around mouth/chin areas. The winter weather and airconditioned office would usually bring out dry patches even more.

I have used this moisturiser for 12 days, every morning after my shower, before applying my makeup.

The packaging is quite fancy and high-end. Small frosted glass jar. However, there is no applicator or pump.

It is fragrance free. The consistency is thick, but when applied would just glide and thin out over my face. After application, I don’t feel anything on my face at all, but if I touch my face, I do feel that my skin is more hydrated and softer.

At the end of the work day, after being in the office for 8.5 hours, I have not noticed any dry patches at all, when I would usually before using this product.

I have noticed also that my pores are minimised and my skin is brighter. I have some redness around my nose and dark undereye circles, and I have not noticed that these have improved by using this product. I do not have a lot of lines/ wrinkles, and have not seen any reduction to the ones I do have.

I would definitely recommend this product in terms of hydrating, soothing and pore minimising properties.

Tips: A little goes a long way. I would use only up to about an almond size amount for my whole face.

Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Day Cream

Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Cellular Defence Rich Replenishing Day Cream is an amazing day cream for all types of skin. The focus is on sensitive and irritated skin but I would recommend it for people without sensitive skin who are looking for an overall great anti-aging and nourishing day cream.

I found the outer packaging to be quite clinical looking, which is appropriate for the type of cream it is. The inner jar is beautiful with a screw lid to give easy access to the product. I wasn't too sure of the smell at first, it is almost like an unscented sunscreen type of smell but again that is what I was expecting from a cream that is for sensitive skin, especially since it can be used as a post-cosmetic treatment.

The cream has a texture that was rich but it almost felt like a gel/ cream blend on the skin which was soothing to apply. Only a small amount is needed which means that the jar will last for ages. It absorbs in quickly and provides the perfect base for makeup.

This isn't a low-cost day cream however considering how fantastic the cream is, it is in my opinion worth the price.

My skin isn't particularly sensitive it can however be a little all over the place. I am 37 so showing signs of aging, suffered from bad acne when I was younger, and can have combination skin with dry and oily patches. I was concerned that it could have made my skin feel too oily seen it says that it helps dry skin however that didn't happen at all. Using this cream my skin has felt calmer and more "normal".

I would recommend this cream for anyone after a fantastic day cream. It is soothing and really does make my skin feel great.

Tips: Only a tiny amount is needed and remember to apply sunscreen.

Gentle and effective

This day cream is gift worthy, packaged in a silver lidded glass jar inside a aqua and silver box. The cream is thick, with a very subtle pleasant scent.

When I started using this cream, I had a lot of redness, peeling and sensivity from prescription strength topical retinol treatment so this cream was really put through its paces.

The cream applied like bliss to my sensitized skin. It felt deeply nourishing and immediately made a difference to my redness, completely evening my skin tone. Usually I have redness until I cover it with makeup, but this neutralized it on its own. Foundation went on smoothly over the cream without any bunching.

Within a few days' use my skin felt softer and smoother, my skin tone more even. It did a wonderful job of smoothing out wrinkles as well. It is a real treat to have healthy looking skin without having to create the illusion with make up.

I definitely recommend it if your skin needs some serious TLC or if you just want better looking skin.

Tips: Great for skin treatment recovery.

Nice cream, good for sensitive skin

This is a beautiful cream with a nice consistency that is enjoyable to use. The packaging is beautiful and I love the aqua colour of the pot. It is a round pot with a screw lid. High quality.

It’s a nice consistency to apply - light to medium weight. You don’t need too much and I think the pot will last a while.

In terms of results, it’s too early to tell but all good so far. I can see that it will be good for sensitive skin - no irritation or stinging. Good hydration and good under makeup and sunscreen. In the week I’ve used it there is no magical improvements but I like this product and will consider repurchasing after finishing it.

Great anti-ageing for sensitive skin

I was lucky enough to trial this cream and I was a winner for me! I have the most sensitive skin - eczema around my eyes, plus skin gets intolerant of products quite quickly. It's really hard to find any beauty product that does what it says it will do AND is also ok for my skin. Thie Dr Lewinn's Recoverederm ticked the boxes though.

First impressions - little to no scent. There is a wee hint of product, but nothing overpowering or cloying. This gave me a great feeling that my trial of this product was going to be good. The cream is a nice consistency - a bit thicker than my normal day creams, but not as thick as a night cream.

Coverage - about average. Maybe a little less than I'd normally use. The product absorbs into the skin really quickly. It didn't tingle or burn and seemed to last most of the day.

Effectiveness - it's promoted as improving skin smoothness and condition in just one week. I didn't really find that. There was a noticeable difference when I touched my face though, it felt plumper (I don't know if that is the right word, lol), maybe softer is the word I want. I noticed my foundation seemed to glide on much better too. I didn't notice a change in fine lines or wrinkles though. It definitely slayed the dryness around my nose and my eczema around my eyes though, so plus plus!

The jar is aesthetically pleasing with a nice solid glass jar and shiny silver lid. But the looks of the jar means nothing if the product doesn't work right? Luckily for me, Recoverederm hit the spot. Unfortunately it's a little bit too expensive for me to justify buying it again at the moment, but I'll be making the most of this jar! And it will definitely go on the shopping list once we've recovered from the Covid financial hit.

Tips: No tips with the product per se, but remember this doesn't have an SPF so you'll want to add that in to your routine too.
