I was lucky to get on the Beauty Review trial for these Highlighting drops. The glass bottle is quite cute. Fits in the palm of my hand. It has a shiny, rose gold top with a white grip tip, which looks like an ink dropper. (Sounds weird, but it looks cute.) You can see the highlighting drops liquid through the tiny glass bottle. It looks like shiny, nail polish liquid in a pale, light colour that glistens. The shade is 01 Sparkling Love and there's 15ml of Glow Mon Amour in the little bottle.
The lid is easy to twist off and when you do so, the ink dropper is covered in the highlighter drops which has a similar consistency and look to nail polish. It has a slight fragrance which is pleasant. It's not too strong, it's a subtle scent. I tested this out on my hand first by squeezing the dropper tip and then swatched it on my hand. It came out as a 'drop' then I rubbed it across my skin on my hand. The swatch looked a shiny, pearl-like colour. I have olive toned skin so this shade was lighter when applied to my skin but once it's rubbed it, it does highlight. It is Metallic and when I moved my hand, I could see it shimmering. I rubbed it in more and it blended in good with my skin.
I first tried this as part of my morning make up routine. After I washed my face and moisturised I applied Glow Mon Amour.
The dropper tip is easy to use. A few drops on different areas of my face was enough. You don't need a lot. Just highlight areas where the light hits your face naturally. The drops are cool to the touch when they drop onto your skin. I used my blender sponge to dab it in. It absorbed into my skin and I could see it was metallic and shimmery. After that, I applied a light coat of light Thin Lizzy 6-in-1 mineral powder all over my face lightly. Areas of my cheekbones, nose, chin and on the side of my forehead were highlighted and looked glowy. When I looked in the mirror and tilted my face in different directions. I could see Glow Mon Amour luminating parts of my face.
The next couple of days, I tried these highlighter drops, doing the same in my makeup routine each morning. During the day, I got compliments from my family that I was 'glowing'. I like the glow look it gives although, I probably won't be using Glow Mon Amour every day. I would recommend using these if you're having date night or Girl's night or got an event to get glammed up for or, if you like to put on full make up every day. They do make your skin glow though. I would say, less is more and one bottle would probably last awhile.
I will be continuing to use Glow Mon Amour and see how it goes until this product is empty. I don't think I would purchase myself as I'm more of a moisturiser and powder foundation gal but I will be recommending to my friends who are into face highlighters.
I got LÓreal Paris Wake Up and Glow Mon Amour Highlighting Drops in the '01 Sparkling Love' shade. My review is a bit of a mixed bag in that I really loved this product and wanted to keep using it, but for some reason my skin reacted to it.
These highlighting drops are attractively packaged in a small, see-through glass bottle, with a rose gold lid and white drop applicator. It looks luxurious and sparkles inside the see-through glass bottle.
The dropper is a bit unusual in that I assume it's meant to suck up the liquid and squeeze it out, but instead the liquid seems to stick to the dropper - perhaps because the formula is quite thick in texture. It doesn't come out of the dropper as cleanly as it appears to in the picture above. Not a biggie, but the dropper just doesn't seem to act as a dropper should so perhaps a wee bit of a design flaw there. I ended up kind of 'dabbing' a few of the drops on to my finger tips rather than attempting to squeeze the liquid out of the dropper. You only need to use a few drops at a time, particularly if you use it solely as a highlighter. A little seems to go a long way, so it's economical.
It's also a versatile product. You can use it purely as a highlighter, you can mix it in with your foundation, apply it after your foundation or even use it as a primer. If your skin is reasonably blemish-free and even-toned, you could even get away with using it INSTEAD of foundation. I guess it depends on how much coverage you need and what skin issues you may or may not have. It's up to you how you use this product. It's definitely a multi-tasker. I chose to use a few of these drops over the top of foundation. I blended it in evenly and it made my skin glow and took away any dullness instantly. WOW!! My skin looked luminous, it sparkled and I felt younger, like a Queen ...for about 5 minutes...until the stinging sensation started to occur.
Unfortunately my skin reacted to these drops, which was a shame as I really did love how this product looked once applied. It made my skin sparkle and glow and was the perfect way to counteract any dullness. The stinging sensation increased so I had to get the makeup remover out pretty quickly. I don't have overly sensitive skin and hardly ever react to makeup products, so it really was disappointing and if I hadn't had a reaction, I'd probably still have those lovely luminous drops on now!
This product is a great way to get your glow on because it makes your skin look radiant, dewy and gorgeous. But I obviously can't personally use it. That's not to say you shouldn't. Everybody's skin is different and just because I had a reaction doesn't mean you will. It definitely does what it claims to do and gives your skin a healthy, radiant glow. So I can't criticise it at all in that regard, I can only say that it's not for my skin.
Tips: A little goes a long way, a few drops at a time is probably all you need, particularly if you're only using it as a highlighter.
