It's fair to suggest I am pretty hopeless at creating fancy hair styles and have a level of envy for those who achieve them, seemingly with ease. Over the years I've tried all sorts of implements and gadgets but with little success. I was excited to trial the VS Unbound Cordless Auto Curler - after watching the YouTube video and reading the instructions it all seemed so easy! And basically it is. Ok there is a level of experimentation and some practice required but once you get in the groove, this product is very user friendly. The curling unit is a good compact size and being cordless is an added benefit, particularly for me while I contort into all sorts of shapes to reach the back of my head and figure out which is left and which is right in a reflection. I have coloured, straight-ish hair, which is considered "fine" but I have a lot of it. Following the recommendations in the instructions I keep the temperature low and the time around 8 secs for each curl. The resulting curls are good and they last, they don't drop out quickly. I'm still a newish user so I'm a bit slow but as I say practice makes perfect and I think I'll be getting a lot with this curler. I love the results and can highly recommend this product.

Tips: Give it time and take it slow when you start. I found it easier to section my hair off then work on small sections threading through the unit. Just watch your finger placement as I find I have a habit of accidentally turning the unit off mind curl.
I was super excited to try the VS Sassoon Unbound Cordless Auto Curler as my hair curling skills are well below average. It doesn’t matter how many videos I watch on how to use curlers, or how many times my hairdresser shows me how to create easy waves with my straightener I just can’t do it. But then this little cylinder of magic arrived on my doorstep and now I have a head full of beautiful bouncy curly waves.
The first time using it is a bit scary as you are not sure what will happen, but I found that using it on small sections of hair is user-friendly and makes hair curling stress-free. I love that you can choose the temperature you use (low for me as I have thin hair) and the option of bouncy waves or tight curls. I was extremely impressed by how long my curls lasted especially since I spent most of my day outside in less-than-perfect weather.

Tips: For thin hair use small sections and a low-heat setting
This makes curling my hair so easy! At first it was a little hard trying to get the hair in and the angle right, but after a couple YouTube videos and a little practice this gave me nice curls that ended up being the easiest way I’ve ever my hair.
This is even better that it’s cordless, it’s handy if you need to take out with you if your curls fall a bit, but mine stayed in nicely with a bit of hairspray.
I had compliments at work how nicely my hair looked after using this in the morning, and showed them the device as I took it with me to work in case the curls falled. Perfect for a night out!
Tips: Use sections 3cm wide, hold, then fall, then repeat with all sections of hair. Once all curls are completed, brush out for nice natural curl/waves. Distribute a light oil throughout afterwards
If I had of done this review on the first attemp of using this wee gizmo I would have given it zero stars, que hair getting stuck and starting to smoke.....BUT was more of a user error not a machine error. Because after taking several breaths and saying a quiet prayer to the hair gods I managed to get the hang of it. I have long thick hair that tends to have a mind of its own, and with the Unbound curler you neeeeeed to to take clean sections.....they can be bigger or smaller in size depending on the look you want but just make them clean with no little hanging bits otherwise those little strands will get tangled and turn into a birds nest.......and its not fun ill give you the tip!!
But once you get the hang of using this, it is an effective easy way to get curls. I love that its cordless so I even managed to get some curls in my hair 10 minutes before starting work sitting in my car! The only downside was I didn't find the curls held all day and dropped after a few hours, but did leave a really nice beachy wave which was quite nice. But overall I was very impressed with the Unbound and found the quality to be pretty darn nice.....and the gorgeous wee carry case just tops it all off. Would highly recommend this for finer shorter hair , I think it would work beautifully and imagine it would hold the curl much more than my long thick hair.

This machine is fantastic. I had been told to follow the instructions carefully which i did and it worked perfectly. Once I had got the hang of doing the Right for the left curl and then the other way round I was away. It didn't take long to curl my long reasonably fine hair.
Tips: Carefully section the hair and don't put too much in at once.
When this arrived in the mail I could not wait to get into it! Upon opening the package I was greated with an amazing box, the packaging it comes in is nice and well detailed on how to use the product. It came with a charger and a nice hard shell carry case. It says to charge it overnight before use, so I did that. Before I even got a chance to try it on myself my friend was requesting I play hairdresser and do hers first. It was so easy to use on her hair and gave the most amazing wavy curls. Determined to get that look on myself straight after. But for some reason all I could manage to do in mine was a perm sort of look, not really what I was going for. I thought it must just be operator error and once my hair is washed and dry again ill give it another go. Let me say - it has been a process trying to find the right setting to get wavy curls on myself. My pre teen daughter has tried to claim this tool as its so easy for her to use and because there is very little risk of her burning her fingers like there is with the curling wand or straighteners. That is a big pro for me too. I loved the design of the curler and all the different settings (although it took a while to find one that works for me), the purple with gold trim look and easy enough to hold. What I didn't like was having to constantly hold the push button - maybe a double click or something would have made it easier to use. I did find using it more time consuming than just running the straighteners through for curls. Sometimes it would curl and other times it wouldn't aswell - but once again most likely operator error. If tight curls are what you're after this product is for you. I like that it's cordless, not hot to the touch, I had no issues with tangling for feeling like I was going to get stuck, and the left right and mixed curl feature was good too. My thick hair took a while to do but was quick on my friends and daughters hair which was more finer. All in all this is a 8/10 product to use.

First of all, I appreciate that it's cordless, and that it charges quickly and goes for a good amount of time - 45 minutes - before it needs to be recharged. It also has a sturdy travel case, which would be handy if travelling or if you needed to redo your hair during the day.
There was a learning curve in using this (my daughter wasn't happy when I first managed to tangle her hair in the curler - it reverses when hair gets caught though, so the trauma was minimal), but once I got the hang of it, we were off, and it produced curls that had her beaming at herself in the mirror, and they lasted a good amount of time without any hairspray. (Note to self: buy hairspray in the next grocery shop.)
We've since used it many times, and I can confidently say it's a great product for those who want to create curls but aren't sure where to start with a straightener or don't want to deal with a corded tong.

First things first - I love that its cordless. Once fully charged, it has 45 minutes styling time but I seem to have used it over this and it went longer. Upon opening it I was glad it had instructions in the lid of the box making my first use of the item quite straight forward - It has multiple heat and different timer settings. The L and R stand for what direction the curls go, for my right side I did L for left - away from my face and the opposite for the left side. There's also a "mixed" option if you want more random, alternate curls. For my finer hair (but lots of it) I went with 180 at 8 seconds and that worked perfectly for the perfect, tighter curl I wanted. If you wanted looser curls, I would choose the 6 second option at the lowest temperature. You feed the hair in, and hold the button down until you hear two beeps. Overall, this is a great easy to use, hair tool, which is definitely innovating the hair world.
Tips: Don't forget your heat protection and don't brush out your curls until they have cooled down.

The curler is oval shaped and fits comfortably in the hand, with a textured handle to maintain a firm grip.
The instructions are straight forward, and you can customise the temperature, curling time, and direction to left, right or a mix of both.
I brushed my hair and used heat protectant spray before using the curler. It heats up quickly. My hair is generally pretty resistant to curling, so I used the highest heat setting (200 degrees) and a 10 second curl time.
It seemed to be a lot more effective than wand style curlers since the hair is enclosed in the heat. It was easy to use and took the guess work out of timing for optimal results.
Tips: Make sure your hair is tangle free before you start.
I love using this cordless hair tool. I never knew how to get the perfect curls, until I used this. Also a bonus that there are no annoying cords!! Super easy to use, and the results are AMAZING
