I'm hooked, line and sinker!

Why oh why have I never tried MAC before. Oh yeah, I thought it was expensive. Well slap my face with a wet fish, was I wrong!!!

My beautiful friend Colleen sent me my very first MAC as a ROAK. Goodness me, was I blown away.

Anywhooos... The simple black box. Simple and pretty. Open it up and a wee bullet shaped lip stick falls out. Black with a silver stripe and MAC words. There is a shimmer in the black.

Pop the lid and silver canister with a black MAC logo. Wow they package them so nicely.

Twist it up and the colour (rebel) looks gorgeous. I swatched on my hand and wow. I'm in love already.

My first time at wearing it... Slides over my lips but sticks. It's like it sticks the colour hard on. The tip of the lipstick is very pointed which I love. I can get close into the Cupid's bow. The smell, gosh I can smell butterscotch and vanilla. Mmmm heaven.

Here is where I say lippys fall off my lips. They don't stay long.... Or so I thought! The pigment of this is amazing. It stayed all day. No touch ups. It doesn't dry my lips out. I'm in MAC heaven.

So my wee Colleen got me so hooked, off I trotted (couldn't swim there :( ) to buy 2 more!

The only negative I have is when they are all in my holder, I have no idea what colour is which unless I open or flip to read the bottom. No I'm not putting them in upside down, cause I love the shape so much.

Now I have found 2 amazing brands, I grabbed all my old lippys and binned the lot!

170+ shades... I've now got at least 20! with a couple more on the way! A lot of shopping for me coming up

Tips: Don't buy cheap lippys. Invest in these. Make sure you exfoliate so the lips look kissable and not flakey

Thank you Steph_xo you won't regret it. There is a line of them that can be drying from what I've heard. My 3 are just lovely and stay on all day

A little dry but great colours

I tend to go for very bold colours (Lady Danger, Cyber, Viva Glam) and my main concern is if the colour will be consistent throughout the day - which it is. I also sometimes combine 2 colours to get a different shade.

With matte colours that I use, the lips can feel quite dry after a few hours if you don't apply balm before hand.

I do notice a bit of bleeding as the day progresses but normally only after 4 or 5 hours. Mostly stand up well to eating/ drinking.

Tips: I often get a white line where my lips meet after a few hours of wearing lipstick or gloss so find it easier to just wipe off that area and reapply, rather than start over.

Everyday Lipstick

I love the texture of MAC lipstick, it's creamy enough to feel light and hydrating, but not so much that you feel it's going to slide right off. It'll last for hours every time, and without drying out your lips.

It has a mild but tasty smell, and comes in a huge variety of colours. The only negative aspect is a the price, but if that doesn't put you off it really is a lipstick for everyone.

Tips: Buy it online rather than in New Zealand, half the price means better value.

Mac lipsticks

Mac lipsticks are honestly my fav!! Have the best range of colours for whatever you would prefer. Which is good that you are able to choose colours that go well with with your skin tone with their wide range. They're so creamy and glide on so well and smoothly! Would buy all of them if I could! And let's not forgot about the scent! Smells like vanilla <3 all round love the lipsticks.

Love!

I have 4 mac lipsticks. Taupe, Velvet Teddy, Rebel & Ruby woo. I love the consistency of them all. Ruby woo would have to be my favourite. It is ultra matte but if applied after a lip balm I don't find it drying at all and it lasts all day. Velvet Teddy is the perfect nude, Taupe is a perfect 90's brown lipstick & rebel is the most amazing colour! So worth the money!!

Mac cremesheen in the shade Creme cup

Good nice smelling product, goes on smoothly and lasts for hours, it's a nice pale pink almost nude shade, so it's good if you want to go for the nude trend but have a fear of your skin matching the lipstick! It has a nice gloss also

Tips: If you tend to have dry lips, I would probably recommend to use a lip scrub beforehand, as it makes dry lips quite noticeable, otherwise it's fine!

Craving!

I was so generously spoilt rotten by the lovely Colleen who sent me craving as a random act of kindness and now I can say that I am completely addicted!

Firstly, the packaging is so sleek and simple. Although its simple it is of extremely high quality and there is no chance of this breaking easily or the lid coming off unexpectedly. This is great because you definitely want your $40 lipstick to be protected. The only thing is the colour isn't identifiable from the tube so if you're lucky enough to have quite a collection then I can see that being a problem.

The formula of the lipstick itself is unlike any other I have used before and as soon as I had it on my lips I understood exactly what all the hype was about. It is the most pigmented lippy I have by far and it is so velvety smooth when applied. It is incredibly nourishing and when it eventually does fade (after a fair few hours) it fades really naturally so no lipstick rings! My most favourite part though would have to be the scent - it smells like vanilla! DELICIOUS!

The shade I have is called craving and is a beautiful raspberry red. I think this shade is pretty universal as a few ladies I know have it and it looks beautiful on all of them. If you are starting out your MAC collection and are looking for something that is sophisticated and still wearable on an every day basis this is the shade for you.

I am absolutely head over heels in love and I plan on buying many more shades!

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick

My two favourite MAC Cremesheen lipsticks are 'Speed Dial' and 'Crosswires'. These lipsticks are very easy to apply and they hydrate my lips, leaving them feeling soft and smooth. I can wear them for 1-2 hours without needing to reapply.

Slightly overhyped

I recently got this is cremesheen "japanese maple" after hearing so much hype about the MAC brand.

I found the packaging to be too "tamponesque" and very plain. The lids does stay on well though.

Application - very easy. Glides on nice and smoothly. Even with a nude I use a liner and it was very easy to blend the liner into the lipstick. Its quite hydrating so that's a bonus if you suffer from dry lips. It's quite creamy and I find that makes it easier to apply.

I didn't find it be very long lasting at all. I apply it and as soon as I have a drink or something to eat it's gone. That might be because I purchased a cremesheen rather than a more opaque shade - Not sure as this is the first MAC lipstick I have purchased.

Nice vanilla type taste as most of the other ladies have mentioned but I don't feel it lives up to its $40 hype. I'm really undecided if I will try another shade but will mull over that decision for a little while.
