I love this for a quick and easy straighten but it has damaged my hair in the long run. I will continue using this until it dies, but will probably try something else afterwards.
I have the rose gold version. I know the lower heat is supposed to be better for your hair but I find I have to go over and over the same piece of hair to get it really straight (which is probably just as damaging). The old school ones at the gym get much hotter and do a better job, in my opinion. That being said these are excellent quality and will last a long time - my previous ones lasted many, many years. They are an investment, but you get what you pay for. Love how quick they take to heat.
When I first started using the GHD straightener I absolutely loved it and thought it was the most amazing straightener ever. After shopping around and trying different brands I've settled on a Remington straightener which I feel works better on my hair.
Tips: If you don't get the results you want after you initially straighten your hair, leave it for a day and try again the following day and apply serum before straightening. Works a treat!
GHD was the iron to get! I rate it my second choice in flat irons. Great look easy to use nice feel. But I want to change the temperature! Only can do that on the pro series. I did a test on my own hair (fluffy waves) I straightened one side with the eclipse and the other with the latest Cloud Nine. I put the cloud nine on the same temperature. When I finished, the cloud nine side was smoother less frizz and felt a bit softer. There was not a huge difference between the two. But if I can do each section once and not have to over use my iron, and go over a section of hair several times, I will pick the one that can do that. Over all a really good straightener but sorry I am a Cloud Nine Girl!
Tips: Always use a heat protector makes a huge difference. Always use a comb to take out all the tangles while straightening, it makes it faster easier and more effective!
So I have an old GHD still in very good working condition and I love it for when I'm feeling keen on a straight day. I recently spend a few weeks at my mothers and thought no point bringing it with me she has a brand new one. It doesn't straighten and smoothly and quickly as the old one, I think they have change the coating? And rumor tells me its not the same people. I also am not keen on the fact that it only has on temperature setting as its just extremely hot or nothing and I have brunt hands and ears multiple times with it. I do like that you can curl and straighten with them though.
These straightners are not bad however they do not have a temperature function therefor if you have fine hair they tend to burn your hair, these also don't straighten as well as some of the other straighteners on the market.
Tips: always use a heat protective spray before using the straighteners.
I have had 3 GHD's in the last 5 years, I have sold two and kept one. The one I kept I have had for at least 8+ years now its the old style the first ones that ever came out they are amazing. The new ones suck and take double the time to do your hair. They also smell of cheap plastic and are horrible I think its just the brand that people are buying them for now. So if my old one was to break I would not be buying another GHD but I would be buying a Clound 9!
Tips: Don't buy a GHD buy a Cloud 9!
GHD aren't what they used to be; as a hairdresser I personally still use my GHD's that were mass produced in China little over a year ago, however in Salon we use and stock Cloudnine straighteners and curling wands and would never put our clients hair through the heat and stress that GHD's put on your hair because they don't have temperature control
I like this GHD because it’s nice classic, light and easy to use. It’s just a simple straightener but it’s efficient to use and heats up quickly also a bonus!
Tips: Always use heat protection for your hair when you’re straightening your hair
