Skin blurrers - are they worth the hype?

In a refreshing change there's a new wave of products that aren't making life changing promises or claiming to be able to perform miracles on our skin.  In fact the latest craze seems to accept that perfection isn't attainable in beauty - but with the new "Skin Blurrers" if you can't reach skin perfection, you can fake it!

The first blur cream was created by NanoBlur and is full of particles that scatter light making skin look younger, clearer and healthier, in just the seconds it takes to apply.  The scattered light reflections essentially blur wrinkles, hyper pigmentation and skin inperfections - sort of like digital airbrushng in a cream.

Nanoblur created such a sensation upon it's release in the UK, one product was being sold every 9 seconds - it's now available in Farmers stores nationwide and we can't help but ask, is it worth the hype?

As well as acting like a soft focus lens blur creams are generally easy to wear.  Designed to be used by themselves or on top of foundation, powders or BB creams, the other benefits  blur creams are;  they work in seconds and on all skin types.  They don't contain tint or colour, so you won't need to try several to find the perfect shade.  They're even suitable for men as well as women.

And obviously where one product has success other brands are sure to follow.  L'Oreal, Urban Decay, Garnier and Olay have all released blur creams, whereas other brands are taking it a step further.  High Definition Powders full of nano particles have been produced by Charlotte Tilsbury and American brand Cargo are releasing a whole range of blur-inspired products.  The Cargo HD Picture Perfect range includes a lip primer that will fill in lip lines to create a smooth perfect pout.

So let's pass the discussion over to you - what are your thoughts on blur creams?  Will you be trying them or maybe you already have?  Is this a cosmetic game-changer?

I have tried a couple of these skin blur creams and to be honest I never really noticed any difference. I have recently used the L'Oréal Skin Perfection Blur cream and this one did my pores disappear however as soon as I applied my foundation, the pores reappeared again ????

Interesting I'm very keen to try.

Yes and yes. I have been using various blur creams over the last few months. I now wouldn't go without. They are amazing on older skins. In some ways they have surpassed primers.

Haven't blur creams being around for a while. I'm sure Revlon and Smashbox have had these kinds of silicone smoothers for ages. Having said that there is a sample sachet in May NEXT mag for me to try, so perhaps they are different.

After reading about this product on Beauty Review, I went to Farmers and purchased it. In the shop I tried the tester on just half of my face and could instantly see a difference. It made my skin look brighter, clearer and less wrinkled. I purchased it instantly! I did find it a bit thick so I mixed it with a very small amount of moisturiser and that did the trick. I will definitely use this whenever I'm going out at night.

Im game to give them a try - if it works well it will be a good product to have on hand when im having a bad skin day or a fill in while I work on mastering my skin care routine for naturally perfect skin ;)

Never heard of them but would LOVE to trial!! Where can we get them and what is the price range??

17th March, 2014

Never heard of them before but depending on price I think I'd be keen to try them!

Wow never heard of these!! They look like I need them on my face :)

I've never actually heard of blur creams, they sound both intriguing and expensive. I would be keen to try them once they have been out for a bit longer and were shown to be good. However, I tend to like products that have a long term effect on your skin, e.g helping to reduce hyper pigmentation, although I would probably use it with bb cream as it will mean I can use less foundations and other products to hide blemishes.

Have never heard of these, but all for covering the wrinkles - would love to give it a try

I've used Nanoblur.... and I love it!!! I usually use it as a primer, but when I feel like having a makeup free day, it's perfect. If I had to describe it, it's kinda like matty-fing your face, it helps soften lines, does wonders for my redness, and practically hides all the fine lines and softens wrinkles.

Sounds great. I have a Farmers voucher indeed to use so I think I'll try this product. Thanks for the tip.
