Review of the Week - La Riche Hair Cosmetics Directions

9 February, 2014 - 03:19pm by - First Lady | 6 Comments

It might not surprise you, but at Beauty Review we love nothing more than a good review (except discovering a new amazing product, maybe).  So we've decided to introduce "Review of the Week".  We're going to pick a review a week that we feel epitomises the criteria for 'a great review'.  And if you get picked, we'll award you with 50 BR points!

Reasons we love this week's pick - it's well written, it's thorough and it's full of great tips!

La Riche Hair Cosmetics Directions - Review by Jelicabear

But other than getting the colour all over your pillows, sheets, pets and loved ones I'm pretty satisfied. I've used a few colours and they've all turned out super vibrant on bleached hair (I've got black/brown hair so it's pretty much a must to bleach if you want something remotely true to colour - I have found however that some of the darker/stronger colours can cast a nice coloured reflect on darker hair. Lighter shades like lilac and pastel pink won't do anything though)

My go to colour for a year was Plum. At first I would dilute it with conditioner to get a nice lavender shade on my hair (I opted to dilute as my hair was super long and super thick and I couldn't afford a bajillion million trillion of these little pots) I've found to get a nice even application that fades evenly you'll need to first start off with hair that is bleached evenly (any patchiness will show upon fading), then apply with the colour with a hair dye brush - really brush it on, just plopping it in and massaging into the hair doesn't really do it, if I've diluted with conditioner (which is all the times except once) I then take cling wrap and wrap up my purply locks for a few hours (you heard me right - it also doubles as a nice deep condition for your no doubt stressed as bleached locks) after a thorough rinsing I come out with purty evenly dyed hair with colour that usually lasts around 3 months with a nice gradual even fade over that time.

The color transfer is a mild annoyance but all in all I love these little pots of intense colour. They may take a little extra effort to get the results I desire but it really pays off.

Tips: If you find the colour isn't really adhering to your hair try a PH balanced shampoo before hand.

Leave the colour in as long as you can bear it - it makes a difference in the lasting power.

If you want your colour to go further or be less intense mix with your favourite conditioner but leave it in for longer.

Brush the colour on instead of massaging it in.

Does anyone know how it works over grey hair ? Thanks

I found that the shade "lavender" had no stick ability in my hair even though I bleached it very light blonde beforehand. It simply wouldn't take to my hair. My friend tried it out as well and she had the same problem.
