Have you tried solid shampoo before?

Poll posted by BR Natalie

***THIS TRIAL OPPORTUNITY IS NOW CLOSED***

If you read the title to this poll thinking; "Solid shampoo?  How can shampoo be solid?!".  Be prepared to go back to school!

We're putting Sorbet's Sensational Solid shampoos to the test.  And there's a bar for every hair type.  We'll be looking for trialists to put one of these four ranges to the test:

  • Damage Control - The perfect shampoo for mildly dry/damaged hair.
  • Frizz Wrangler - For those of you who abuse your hair with hot irons, curlers, hair dryers or bleach.
  • St Clements - This bar will balance oil production, clean the scalp and freshen your hair up.
  • Heali Kiwi - Great for dandruff sufferers, people with psoriasis or most other scalp problems. Will calm irritated scalps, prevent flakiness and kill the microbes that can cause problems.

Why go solid?

  • They're super concentrated and last much longer than a bottle of shampoo.  Some bars can last up to 6 months!
  • Because they last longer and money doesn't go on fancy packaging, they're cheaper in the long run.
  • The lack of packaging and chemicals makes them very kind to the environment!  All Sorbet ingredients and wrappers are biodegradable.
  • Solid bars don't have much (if any) water, which means they need very few (again, if any) preservatives
  • They contain lots of pure ingredient like coconut oil, cocoa butter, kiwifruit seed oil and essential oils.

How do you use solid shampoos?

  • To use a shampoo bar you just need to slide the bar down wet hair 3-4 times, lather with hands and rinse.  It's that simple!

If you'd like to put your hand up for this trial team why not tell us your experience with solid hair care - have you tried a solid shampoo before?  How did you find it?  And if you haven't tried one before, why do you want to?  And most importantly - which one of the four products we'll be trialing would best fit your hair needs?

I love the sound of this, Damage Control would be for me by the sound of it. Great idea : my question is, storage between washes? Do you use a separate soap dish? Does it dissolve away and get stuck to the soap dish? It seems to me that when I use bar soap, a lot gets washed away just in handling and storage in the shower. Perhaps a soap travel box would be the answer for this solid shampoo... Also how well does it spread through your hair? If it's solid and you only use a small amount, is it easy enough to get proper coverage? I would love to give it a shot though I'm a little skeptical as to the practicality side...interesting idea!

I've never tried solid shampoo before but would love to because they sound like an eco-friendly and nourishing product my hair would love with all the pure ingredients in them. Damage control would be best for my hair!

Ooh I've never tried solid shampoo, I've heard a lot about sorbet products though and have always wanted to try them. I'd love to try Heali Kiwi because I get really bad dandruff and my scalp is always flakey, or Damage Control because my hair is very dry and damaged, especially the ends due to blow drying in the past. I'd be interested to see ow this compares to liquid shampoo.

I am a solid shampoo virgin! This sounds like an amazing shampoo which is an alternative to liquid

I've never tried a solid shampoo (this was the first time I heard of them!) and would be keen to give one a go. I have such oily hair (roots, mid-lengths and ends) that by the morning of day two, it looks like my hair is wet, it's so greasy! I'm battling to find a good shampoo to combat the oil, as I only wash my hair every 2nd day. I dry shampoo every alternate day.

I have tried 'Poo' bars before. I used one from Lush. It was more expense than I normally spend, however it lasted for ages, and cleaned my hair really well. It was super soft and shiny. I got one for a specific issue and it was really good. These Sorbet ones sound good too. Would be keen to try.

I haven't tried a solid shampoo but I really want to! I think either Damage control or St Clements would be a good fit for the state my hair is in at the moment.

I haven't heard of it, but I guess there would've been, and still will be, people who use bars of soap for their hair to save money, so it's not really a giant leap to start making bars of shampoo! Interesting concept, I'd love to know how well it works:)

I have heard of this but thought Lush were the only ones that made it! I've always wanted to try a solid shampoo as have heard great things about the Lush ones and I'm sick of buying 'average' supermarket ones that never seem quite right for my hair.

St Clements sounds like it would be perfect for me, I have such oily hair! I assume you could cut these in half too? Would be perfect keeping a chunk in my shower and a chunk in the partners shower so I don't have to cart around wet bottles of hair stuff!

I use Sorbets solid shampoo and conditioner and absolutely LOVE it, I use Frizz Wrangler solid shampoo and The Guardian solid conditioner and my hair has NEVER looked so healthy and felt so incredibly soft, I will never go back to 'other' shampoo and conditioner. It's incredibly easy to use and provided it's kept dry between uses, it lasts ages. It comes wrapped in packaging that dissolves when wet so there is no plastic waste. I seriously can't comment highly enough on Sorbets products, I'm now waiting for my face cleanser, face serum and body tanner! Try it, you won't be disappointed!
