If the thought of having purified butulinum toxins aka Botox injected into your face isn’t too appealing well then perhaps this new alternative is for you? Scientists have created a new no-toxin alternative to botox which apparently freezes your wrinkles......instantly!

Frotex, also known as Iovera was developed within the United States (possibly the home of plastic surgery?) to help reduce forehead lines and wrinkles. The procedure takes a measly 15 minutes, with patients being injected with liquid nitrogen which freezes the nerves that controls the muscles which cause wrinkles. Patients are said to experience very little pain but rather feel a cold sensation. Each treatment is claimed to last up to 4 months, when the muscles will start to ‘unfreeze’ but never fear your face won’t get that plastic doll look (aka Joan Rivers forehead) because this procedure is so precise expressive muscles aren’t effected and thus you can still look surprised, happy, sad, and even maybe raise your eye brow!

Before you get too excited and book your appointment with a plastic surgeon keep in mind that this is a new procedure, and thus fairly unproven, so it might be best to stick with that night cream and accept your beautiful lines as badges of honour!

Eeek to needles and a definite no to any substance... No, nope, na-uh!

I don't particularly like the idea of needles on my face and upkeep can be expensive. Plus if it's a new procedure it better to wait around to see if there's any side effects reported and how effective it is.

It's not the toxins that put me off this procedure, it's the thought of letting someone loose on my face with a needle, Eeek! I think I'll take the natural approach and will definitely be wearing my laughter lines and crows feet as evidence of a good life lived!
