OPI Nailpolish

I got this in blue for a Christmas present and was so excited to use it. At first I absolutely loved it but after a few months it got dry and not very nice for application. Not sure if it was how i stored it or the bottle but either way I wasnt that much of a fan

Shattered over shatter

I loved the effect of this nail varnish but I found it a disappointment with how gluggy the varnish become in the bottle. Pretty much useless now. Waste of money for the limited amount you get to actually wear.

Shatter

I snapped this up in black when everyone was lovin' all over the shatter craze and though it did get used a bit I decided not to invest in any other shades. The formula was a bit strange, I found it needed to be applied in a fairly thick coat which needed to be done all in one go to get the desired effect. After a few uses I noticed the bottle beginning to become a gluggy, thick mess which is a bit disappointing. Without a top coat this stuff feels terrible on the nails, the texture annoys me and causes me to pick at it without realising

OPI - shattering

I used the Black Shatter. All OPI nail polish, the bottle looks like a candy choice & it's hard to just pick one colour. The brush is really lovely. The formula didn't go on easily, and it was tricky. I didn't really couldn't achieve the expected shatter effect. It waskind of lumpy & thick. A thinner coat worked better and make sure the base coat is smooth & very dry. I love OPI, however this might be a skill level of painting I'm not ready for.

Not worth the money

I only bought these at a makeup sale as OPI is expensive. The shatter effect is good (if applied thick and evenly), but it does chip quite quickly. Within the day of application, if you wadh dishes or do housework, the polish will chip instantly! I found avon shatter to be more hard wearing and cheaper. Definitely don 't think it is worth the price for the short lasting wear.

Tips: Apply a thick and even coat for the best shatter effect

Cool but Gluggy!

This product was well advertised and the effect looked awesome! It came out at a time where nail polish was becoming less boring and more complex than just a coat of glitter on top.

I got the original black one and it was a very cool product! I found it sometimes hard to use and get even across the nail which was really important to getting the right final look. After a few months of owning the product, it got quite thick in the bottle and very hard to apply, so maybe the formula needs a bit of work so that it has a longer shelf life.

Its ok

I LOVED shatter polish when it first came on the market but it didnt take long before the nail polish became thick and glumpy and hard to apply. I no longer use it and just stick with feature nails :)

A trend to try

I bought these when they first came out, been a pretty stoic OPI customer. From memory OPI were the first polish brand to make these type of polishes, and they were very popular at the time.

Like most early adopters, I have the black shade, though it later became available in a number of colours.

It is easy to apply, but does take a bit of practice to get the shatter effect quite right. I did rock shatter effect nails for a while, but have since destashed it to my sister who has quite the OPI collection of her own.

A fun trend and unique trend to try, but one that has fallen out of favour now.

OPI Shatter

I purchased the black shatter nail polish when it first came out and I really liked it, i tried it over a lot of colours from OPI. It was really fun to watch it form the shatter effect. When applying onto my nails I had to make sure I had a good amount on the brush and only do one coat because it doesn't work very well if you apply more coats, it goes streaky and doesn't shatter properly. I also noticed it started going really thick in the bottle and was hard to apply so had to throw it out after awhile. Probably won't buy it again I prefer my nails just one colour but maybe one day if they still have it I would purchase it for my daughter to try.

Overrated

Personally I think shatter nail polishes are overrated. they do shatter but look better in pictures. you also have to practise with the amount of shatter you use in the brush as that affects the end result. I bought some when shatter was in "trend" (I have the blue, pink, gold, silver, navy and super base shatters), but ave only really used them once each. I got carried away thinking they were cool and bought a whole lot at the same time, but now prefer just plain colour or nail art

Tips: Pair it with your base colour carefully as that affects the look. For example the blue and pink are quite light and so become transparent over dark colours, which ruins the look. White generally works for all of them. Too much on your brush results in it being thick on your nail and not shattering, but you do need a decent amount in order to shatter.
