Garnier Skin Perfector BB Cream Anti Ageing Review

This is the first time I have ever used a bb cream before so I was quite excited to try it out.

Firstly a few things about the product: The consistency I found very thick and didn’t apply very easily to my skin, I can’t say the smell was overly nice but it also wasn’t terrible - it does disappear pretty quickly on application. I found the coverage to light for my personal liking and even applied a second layer to see if I could build up the coverage a bit more but it just appeared blotchy on my skin the more I applied. I tried a couple of ways to apply it from using my hands to using a beauty blender but I still wasn’t keen on the coverage or how it sat or looked on my skin. Once applied I didn’t like how it felt on my skin as it felt oily and gave me a shine which I am not keen on – I prefer a matte look for me as my skin is slightly on the oilier side of combination skin.

Now for the nitty gritty of the application: I used a couple of ways how I applied it like I mentioned above but I also tried using a primer underneath, then a primer and used a powder on top all of which I still didn’t like. Eventually I decided to use it as a primer underneath my colour stay foundation, BINGO! This was much better it then began to do what it said it was to do, it added extra moisture to my mature skin, keeping my face hydrated for longer, it even gave a slight extra bit of coverage on my hormonal spots I have around my neck, blurring them a little without having to use concealer as well and lessened the look of my pores making them appear smaller. I won’t be purchasing this particular bb cream again but I may purchase another brand to compare them with this one.

From the first time I used this cream I loved it, this cream exceeded my expectations. I have pretty normal skin and starting to be concerned with the ageing process and normally wear a medium coverage foundation. I found this cream to be of medium consistency but easy to apply using your fingers. It had a very pleasant floral smell which faded nicely after application. I was actually surprised how well it covered as I often have red cheeks and this covered them well but at the same time looked natural and not caked on. After applying the cream it made my skin glow and look radiant. My skin didn't dry out at all throughout the day, all though I did re apply in the afternoon for more coverage. A great cream to recommend to all with the bonus of sunscreen too.

Slightly darker in shade than I expected, though I found it had reasonably good coverage and a nice colour. A tad oily going on but once dry it was great.

My skin is normally dry on the cheeks but oily on the t-zone. (and with some wrinkles) Because the colour was little bit dark on me (I have VERY fair skin) it was not as easy to apply as it would be if it was a closer skin match), I had to be careful to do small dots at a time, and then carefully blend them which wasn't that quick to do but meant I could control the coverage. I thought the fragrance was great the first time I opened the tube and a lovely scent wafted out, but it unfortunately became a really overpowering fragrance as I applied it, just seemed like way too much fragrance for a BB cream and compared to my other face products. :-( The coverage was sheer and the finish was surprisingly matte (I had thought it would be a bit shiny and oily since it was the 'anti-aging' BB cream) so I thought it worked well under my foundation. It's a great price compared to some of the other BB creams on the market. I haven't noticed any particular anti-aging results yet, but as I've only been using it for about a week now, it might be too early to say! :-) I would definitely recommend it to a friend if they have a darker skin tone than me (not difficult as I'm so fair! lol) and if I know they love a strongly scented product on their face!

I have never used a BB cream before so was very keen to see what it could do. As a mum of 2 young children, my morning beauty routine is minimal and has to be quick. My skin is slightly on the dry side and as an over 40 year old, the wrinkle lines are starting to appear around my mouth, eyes and forehead. I found the cream to be a slightly thick consistency, but it has a lovely floral smell. When I first applied it I just dotted it around my face and blended it in which took a while but I then knew the color was right for me. I did find it a little bit drying when I applied it by itself but I had been keen to try it as soon as it arrived! The next morning I applied my usual moisturiser and then the BB cream right after. This time I applied it just like my moisturiser, a small amount in the palm of my hand, rub together and apply all over. I found this perfect, it was easy and quick to blend in however gave me the feeling of having a light makeup coverage without being obvious. I love it only comes in 2 shades as I am rubbish at picking the right shade for my skin tone. I went for light and it was the right choice for my fair skin. I have been using this for a week now and think my skin is looking fresher and the lines aren't as prominent which is a huge bonus for me! Love the packaging, the squeezy bottle is easy to use and a little goes a long way. It gives me a lightly made up look for every day wear that I really like as I am not in to heavy make up daily. At the weekend I used it as a base under my powder foundation and it helped my make up stay in place all night. I would definitely recommend this to a friend and a will be buying more when I run out! From a BB convert!

Pleasant and not overbearing fragrance, blended easily with finger tips and got a better coverage first time with a makeup brush. Moisturising but however did find that it felt heavy after a couple hours. I think there also needs to be a light colour than the light.

Also used as a base coat with foundation and did help for a even coverage and took away the shininess of the cream when used on its own.

Could not tell if the anti-agiing properties worked as not enough time however it didn't crease where the wrinkles are.

The first thing I did when I received the product was check the smell. It smells similar to another skin naturals moisturiser that I tried and I wasn't fond of the scent. It smelt greeny chemical. The product was thick and went on smoothly with no problems. I liked the thickness of the product. I used the light version and it blended well with my skin tone. I only used one coat of it on my skin. on the box it does say you can do two. I just used my fingers. I meant to try using a sponge as well but forgot to. It didn't seem to leave much product in the ridges of skin when wiped off with a tissue. Because the product was creamy, I followed up with Almay wake up powder, to keep it relatively matte and free from shine for most of the day. The one day I didn't powder by lunchtime my face was feeling a little greasy. It also seemed to cause a mini break out where I don't normally get pimples, 3 small ones on the cheeks and nose. I can't see any major change on my wrinkles but I will finish the tube as it does say on the box "Skin appears smoother for 86% of women" I figure for the tubes amount, I would like to use till finished and see if it does. I have only used for 9 days so far. Over all would I use it again? due to the scent more than likely no. If they change the scent likely yes ******************************** update 27/8/14 I have been using this one basically every day and I still have about 1/2 a tube to go, It feels never ending. Has there been any reduction in my wrinkles? well not noticeably so. I prefer using my fingers to apply this, I have used the sponge but I think it just uses more of it in the sponge than on my face and I don't feel I get the coverage with the sponge that I do with using my fingers. I have increase part of my rating by 1 point to 3 on "would I use it again". I still find the smell a little off putting.

First thing I noticed about this cream was the scent. It was quite pleasant, but strong for a makeup. I felt that it was a bit overpowering, especially seeing as it is going on the face. However, after half an hour I didn't notice it any more, or it had dissipated.

The cream went on smoothly and blended very easily. I had the 'light' tint but I have very fair skin, and especially pale in winter and found it to be a little too dark for my colour. It did even out the overall colouring, and the finer lines of my face without being too heavy. It felt nice and light and my skin felt it could still breathe.

Couldn't rate how effective the SPF was as we have had no sun!

I can't say that my skin felt any firmer or appeared less wrinkly than using my usual moisturiser, but it did feel nice to use.

Firstly this product is great for the purse if you like to do touch ups throughout the day or for travelling. My first use of the product, I was surprised at that thickness, but this wasn't a negative, I prefer a thicker bb cream, as it gave slightly more coverage. The product was easy to apply, which I did with my fingers, if you are after more coverage, you could do 2 applications where you wanted & blend. Does it reduce fine lines&wrinkles;........let me know if you find a product that truely does!!!!!! I like the glow it gave my skin & it had great staying power throughout the day. Packaging is what it is, nothing fancy, but serves well for its price point in the market. I would happily buy this product again over other BB creams I have tried so far.
