This would be a really good product if they left out the fragrance. As a night cream it works well but so do plenty of other products. As someone with sensitive skin I don't like extra fragrances in my skincare products as it increases the chances that I will have a reaction. So far, I haven't had a reaction using this, but the smell is still strong and off-putting.

I really wanted to love this night cream but though the weeks of using it it just left me feeling very underwhelmed each time after using. My skin would feel slightly tight after applying and didn't feel hydrated at all. It didn't even leave my skin with a nice glow afterwards. loved the texture of the cream and how well it absorbed into the skin when gently rubbed in. It does have a strong rose scen. Nice pottle packaging but again tube packing is much lore hygienic. I won't be repurchasing this product as it wasn't for my skin. I have combo to normal skin xx
I was really excited to use this moisturizer, however it just didn't suit my skin. I found it left a bit of a tacky residue on my skin, which isn't a major, but the slight stinging/burning sensation after applying made me decide to stop using it. Nice fragrance and nice consistency.
This is a good product, but it has such a strong fragrance! It was a bit overwhelming, so I decided to pass it on to my Nana instead, she loves it. Its definitely a luxury item that's lovely to get though. If it didn't already use a moisturizer which I love that doesn't have such a strong smell, I'd probably use this one.
I love Antipodes products, products like avocado and pear night cream that make me smile at the memory... so soft and scented ...
So I was excited to try this one and have been suing it with the skin brightening eye cream. This one comes in the usual cute little box and twist top pot that I know and love from Antipodes. The product is kinda gel-like and an odd pale purple colour. It absorbs beautifully, oddly feeling quite watery when I apply it, and then afterwards leaving a soft smooth feel. And it actually does leave an effect that lasts overnight and can be still felt and seen in the morning. BUT, as with the eye cream, the smell is unappealing and I'm really struggling with it. I am trying to persevere with it and the effect is great, exactly the same way I feel about the eye cream, but it isn't such a pleasant experience as the scent is strong and lingers on my skin. There are sooo many reasons to love it, it's made in New Zealand, has no animal testing, has hyaluronic acid and good bacteria, and definitely improves my skin, but cooweee that scent is tough. I'd love to recommend it but not sure if anyone else would appreciate the smell any more than I do. I've had a headache on and off for days and am putting this aside for a couple of days to see if that scent /ingredient is the culprit as I've just realized it might be as I've been typing this review. I'll let you know!
I love this night cream and was super excited to find it in the Christmas Best Ever Beauty Box (my first time purchasing). If you’re familiar with the Keihls Midnight Cream then this is basically the same but NZ made and less than half the price. It’s a gorgeous blue colour and does have a slight fragrance (as most of their products do) but isn’t irritating at all. I let my teenage daughter try it (and she has incredibly sensitive skin ) and she loved it. She found it better during the day as her skin is quite dry. I have oily/combination skin and this is probably one of the only night creams that isn’t too heavy for my skin. I do like a lot of moisture in my night routine so I add Rosehip oil after I’ve applied this at night. One thing that I really noticed after using this for a few weeks was how much better my makeup applied the next day. I will absolutely repurchase this night cream and the next Beauty Box as it was filled with new products to discover and some favourites.
Tips: If you’re super dry this works really well as a day cream or you can mix in a couple of drops of facial oil for extra hydration.
This is a really nice natural night time cream. It applies so easily and just soaks into your skin. I first bought this when my skin reacted badly to another product and I used this and the day time water gel and it soothed and healed as well as nourished. A little is all that's needed. Shops usually have lots of deals with Antipodes so give it a try.
I really saw and felt great results using Antipodes Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream. This comes in a 60ml jar which is a great size as will last a little over a month. Price range is between $47 and $60 so you definitely need to shop around. Upon opening the jar, the scent is a little intense but after googling what the scent actually was (deep fresh rose, citronella and geranium) it made sense given it is a night cream and some people may find this scent relaxing/calming. The consistency of the product is thick just like most other night creams. Super easy to apply and feels great on. I went to bed with my skin feeling moisturized and woke up with it feeling soft and fresh. I will continue to purchase this product as love the way it makes my skin feel.
I received Antipodes Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream in my BBBE.
The boxed packaging looks great and show cases NZ Native landscape. The beautiful design continues on to the glass jar. The glass jar has a screw top lid and once opened, has a very intense fragrance which I am not a fan of. There is a lot of information on the box packaging including a huge list on ingredients.
In the evening once I have cleansed, I apply Antipodes Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream. The cream is thick and gel like and I do not need layers of it. A small amount goes a long way.
My skin feels very, very soft and smooth in the morning. A really nice feeling.
Antipodes Culture Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream feels luxurious.
I read good reviews of this on BR which is what convinced me to try it. I’ve not used much from the Antipodes range, so didn’t know what to expect.
The glass jar is lovely, and I like the look of the product sitting in my bathroom.
But as soon as I opened the jar I was overwhelmed by the scent of rose. I generally avoid fragrance in my skincare, so maybe I’m extra sensitive to it, but I seriously have never used such a heavily scented face cream. And the smell really lingers too.
Upon applying it, my face started to sting. It felt like I had applied Vicks Vapour Rub to my face. A product hasn’t had this effect on me for a long time, so I know my skin isn’t unreasonably sensitive.
Initially I used it as a night cream. Judging by the ingredients I knew it wasn’t actually occlusive enough to lock in moisture, but considering it claims to be a “night recovery cream” I figured it should have been enough to use alone overnight. But even before I went to bed I already felt dry. In the morning my face was still dry.
I persevered through the stinging (maybe a mistake) and used it as a serum type treatment the next night, with a heavier moisturiser over the top. This would be the only effective method of using it in my opinion.
In the end, I’ve stopped using it on my face all together. I’m finishing the jar on my legs and body and probably won’t buy any more Antipodes products.
