I was really excited to receive this product to review, as I have never used any Dr. Lewinn's products before - they're quite expensive and I really can't be bothered reading about all the scientific claims and elusive ingredients. I also usually opt for day moisturisers that are on the cheaper side, lighter formulas and contain SPF.
I'm in my late 20s and I'm starting to see horizontal forehead lines and crow's feet develop, AT THE SAME time as still battling hormonal acne on my chin (currently using Differin gel from the doctor to clear it up) and pesky breakouts on my forehead. I was a bit worried that using this may cause my acne to flare up, but it has been fine.
At first glance I was worried that this would be far too heavy and thick for daily morning use, but I was pleasantly surprised that it feels like a combination of a cream and a gel. I also like that it is fragrance-free. It absorbs really quickly and my skin feels amazingly moisturised. I've been using it for a week so far and I can see a very slight difference in my skin, so I'm excited to see what it looks like after another week of use.
It's definitely changed my view on moisturisers from jars rather than bottles, and it feels like I am treating my skin every morning when I put it on! I would probably buy this again and am now keen to try other products from the brand.
I've trialed this day cream for roughly two weeks now, and I have mixed feelings about it.
Note: My skin is mildly sensitive and this product is meant for sensitive skin (in fact on the box it even states: to soothe and calm sensitive & irritated skin.) so I was somewhat surprised when I applied it and my skin felt a little tingly. Nothing major, or too worrying for me, but a similar feeling to when I apply a cream that's got alcohol's in it.
Upon opening, my initial thoughts: packaging is nice, jar is a lot bigger than what is actually contained inside but is aesthetically pleasing to look at. The cream is relatively thick for a day cream and smells like a mix of sunscreen and chemicals.
I applied this cream every morning after both cleansing and applying toner. The thing that stood out the most is that it did indeed reduce the dryness & tightness of my skin (one of the claims made on the box), however this didn't last throughout the day. After only a few hours I could feel my skin drying out, crying for more moisturiser. Also not a huge issue, but something that bothered me personally was the smell. There was something about the smell of this cream that almost put me off wanting to use it every morning.
On the subject of the anti-aging side of this cream: because I only trialed this for such a short period of time, I feel I couldn't rightly say whether the anti-aging properties worked or not.
Would I pick this over my regular day cream (which is about a third of the price)? No. For me the benefits of this product don't live up to the price tag.
Pros: *immediately made skin feel hydrated
Cons: *Expensive! *Not a pleasant smell *Skin didn't feel moisturised for long enough
