A bit of a let down

I've trialed this day cream for roughly two weeks now, and I have mixed feelings about it.

Note: My skin is mildly sensitive and this product is meant for sensitive skin (in fact on the box it even states: to soothe and calm sensitive & irritated skin.) so I was somewhat surprised when I applied it and my skin felt a little tingly. Nothing major, or too worrying for me, but a similar feeling to when I apply a cream that's got alcohol's in it.

Upon opening, my initial thoughts: packaging is nice, jar is a lot bigger than what is actually contained inside but is aesthetically pleasing to look at. The cream is relatively thick for a day cream and smells like a mix of sunscreen and chemicals.

I applied this cream every morning after both cleansing and applying toner. The thing that stood out the most is that it did indeed reduce the dryness & tightness of my skin (one of the claims made on the box), however this didn't last throughout the day. After only a few hours I could feel my skin drying out, crying for more moisturiser. Also not a huge issue, but something that bothered me personally was the smell. There was something about the smell of this cream that almost put me off wanting to use it every morning.

On the subject of the anti-aging side of this cream: because I only trialed this for such a short period of time, I feel I couldn't rightly say whether the anti-aging properties worked or not.

Would I pick this over my regular day cream (which is about a third of the price)? No. For me the benefits of this product don't live up to the price tag.

Pros: *immediately made skin feel hydrated

Cons: *Expensive! *Not a pleasant smell *Skin didn't feel moisturised for long enough

A really lovely daily moisturiser

I was really excited to receive this product to review, as I have never used any Dr. Lewinn's products before - they're quite expensive and I really can't be bothered reading about all the scientific claims and elusive ingredients. I also usually opt for day moisturisers that are on the cheaper side, lighter formulas and contain SPF.

I'm in my late 20s and I'm starting to see horizontal forehead lines and crow's feet develop, AT THE SAME time as still battling hormonal acne on my chin (currently using Differin gel from the doctor to clear it up) and pesky breakouts on my forehead. I was a bit worried that using this may cause my acne to flare up, but it has been fine.

At first glance I was worried that this would be far too heavy and thick for daily morning use, but I was pleasantly surprised that it feels like a combination of a cream and a gel. I also like that it is fragrance-free. It absorbs really quickly and my skin feels amazingly moisturised. I've been using it for a week so far and I can see a very slight difference in my skin, so I'm excited to see what it looks like after another week of use.

It's definitely changed my view on moisturisers from jars rather than bottles, and it feels like I am treating my skin every morning when I put it on! I would probably buy this again and am now keen to try other products from the brand.

Tips: I also use it like an eye contour cream and dab it under my eyes before applying to the rest of my face!

You only need a small amount, so the jar should last quite a while.

Fantastic Day Cream for Sensitive Skin

I have sensitive skin that can flare up when I try new products, so I always gravitate towards products designed for sensitive skin.

The Dr Lewinns Recoverederm Day Cream is clearly labelled as being for sensitive skin and I found even the packaging looked calming with its pale blue colouring.

There's a minor scent, but nothing over powering, I'm assuming its just the scent of the ingredients and nothing added.

The day cream has a light texture and is cooling when applied. I experienced no reactions or tingling which can happen while my skin gets used to a product. I found this calming on the dry patches on my cheeks (winter winds do this to me!).

I think this has had a positive impact on my skin texture and refinement over the trial period - my skin feels firmer and looks plumper for sure.

The only reason I haven't given it full marks is due to the price - I'd be really interested in trying the range, but it would be quite the monetary investment!

Dr LeWinns day cream

I loved trialing this product, I loved the big glass jar, it was easy to find on my dresser, even though a lot of it was just jar, as the 50 mils of cream is the same of the other day creams I had. The cream had a slight smell that reminded me of hand sanitizer, but lets face it, in this day and age that is a safe and comforting smell!. the texture was light and went on smoothly and absorbed fast, leaving no sticky feeling. after using it, it left my face feeling so incredibly smooth! I couldn't stop running my hand down my cheeks to feel the softness. after 2 weeks of using DR LeWinns I felt my skin had a younger softer look and feel to it, and definitely no breakouts of blemishes, and no red blotchy face either. since I had never heard of Dr Lewinns products before, I looked up the price of this amazing day cream and found the RRP was $79.99. which discouraged me a wee bit, as this is way out of my price range for every day skin care, and probably wouldn't buy it again because of that fact, there are many other more reasonable priced day creams out there more in my price range. would I recommend it to a friend? yes, if they could afford it, it would be my recommended product for sure.

Tips: a little goes a long way.

Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Day Cream

I really liked this product, I have minor sensitivity and this moisturiser soothed and hydrated my skin. It is a rich cream but absorbs well with no oiliness. I can be prone to breakouts I had zero issues in this space. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin. I’m not sure about it’s wrinkle fighting powers, my skin was definitely hydrated and smooth. It is not fragranced which I know is important for sensitivities but I like the decadence of a fragrance in my skincare. So all in all I’d 100% recommend for people with sensitive skin, and I’d consider purchasing once my jar runs out.

Tips: Personally I wouldn’t pay the RRP but you can pick it up on sale at the Chemist Warehouse/Bargain Chemist type stores. Give it a go!

Great for my sensitive skin

I was selected by BR to review this product on a trial team. I have sensitive skin and need to be careful what I use on my face, I have had reactions to things in the past. Often when changing products my skin will have a breakout or transition period but that didn't happen while switching to this product. This moisturizer was really well tolerated by my skin and it does a great job. The packaging is really nice and easy to use, just take the lid off, scoop some out and away you go. The product is quite thick and luxurious. Moisturizing products for sensitive skin can have a thin consistency so this was an absolute treat to use. It was well absorbed by my skin and didn't leave me looking shiny or oily. Now that I'm in my 30's I am starting to use some anti-ageing products in my skincare routine and while I don't have any wrinkles for it to improve the appearance of I didn't get any new ones :) I will continue using this product and will repurchase, it's been a pleasure to use on my sensitive skin.

Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Day Cream

Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Cellular Defence Rich Replenishing Day Cream is an amazing day cream for all types of skin. The focus is on sensitive and irritated skin but I would recommend it for people without sensitive skin who are looking for an overall great anti-aging and nourishing day cream.

I found the outer packaging to be quite clinical looking, which is appropriate for the type of cream it is. The inner jar is beautiful with a screw lid to give easy access to the product. I wasn't too sure of the smell at first, it is almost like an unscented sunscreen type of smell but again that is what I was expecting from a cream that is for sensitive skin, especially since it can be used as a post-cosmetic treatment.

The cream has a texture that was rich but it almost felt like a gel/ cream blend on the skin which was soothing to apply. Only a small amount is needed which means that the jar will last for ages. It absorbs in quickly and provides the perfect base for makeup.

This isn't a low-cost day cream however considering how fantastic the cream is, it is in my opinion worth the price.

My skin isn't particularly sensitive it can however be a little all over the place. I am 37 so showing signs of aging, suffered from bad acne when I was younger, and can have combination skin with dry and oily patches. I was concerned that it could have made my skin feel too oily seen it says that it helps dry skin however that didn't happen at all. Using this cream my skin has felt calmer and more "normal".

I would recommend this cream for anyone after a fantastic day cream. It is soothing and really does make my skin feel great.

Tips: Only a tiny amount is needed and remember to apply sunscreen.

Lovely rich day cream without the greasy feel!

I really loved this cream- especially the texture it feels super rich & moisturising without the oily/greasy feel you sometimes get from other ultra hydrating day & night creams.

I really put it to the test by going snowboarding & getting wind/sunburnt (had sunblock on but forgot to reapply at lunch.. duh!), my skin felt super dry, textured & irritated following that- I then used this day cream for the next three days & have already noticed a massive improvement in my skin texture & hydration levels.

So in short very pleased with the performance of this day cream!

Tips: No just remember to use your serums first & follow with this!

Game changing day cream!

Thanks to this trial I have discovered the difference between an $80 day cream and what I pick up on special for $10 at Countdown! When I started using the Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Cellular Defence Rich Replenishing Day Cream my mid-30's skin was looking truly awful thanks to the Winter elements. After my morning cleansing routine I apply a generous amount to my face and neck. It's calming, soothing and a beautiful consistency - not too thick or at all greasy and my skin just drinks in. After using it for two weeks my skin is certainly smoother, more hydrated and looking so much better! Make up also sits beautifully on top of it.

The only feedback I'd give is on the dispensing aspect of the packing. While it's a stunning frosted glass jar you do have to scoop your fingers in and the product out. One of those fancy push down attachments on the top to distribute just the right amount which I see some other Dr LeWinns products have would be perfect.

Lovely product, but overpriced

This review is for Dr LeWinns Recoveraderm Cellular Defence Rich Replenishing Day Cream. I was lucky enough to receive this product from Beauty Review to try out.

The cream comes in an easy to open, attractive blue ombre glass jar that would look attractive and premium in your bathroom. It's a thick white cream with no noticeable scent. I found a little goes a long way - no need to use a big dollop, just a dab is enough. The cream applies smoothly and spreads evenly over your skin, taking a moment to sink in (I'd leave it for a minute before applying other products).

It kept my skin feeling supple and hydrated over the course of the day, each day. Over the trial period of two weeks, I didn't notice any discernible difference (good or bad) to my skin.

The only downside is the price, this retails for around $80 a jar, and for that price I expect more long term improvement. Because of this, I'm not likely to purchase the product once I run out.

Tips: A little goes a long way - think "dab", not "scoop"!
