Olay Luminous Niacinamide + Hyaluronic Super Serum

The Olay Luminous Niacinamide + Hyaluronic Super Serum review didn't go well, I don't rate the product and wouldn't recommend it, here's why...

I don't mind the bottle design, it has a "fancy" dropper type cap where you press the button on top and it sucks up the product, you press it again to dispense the product. I found i would need at least 2 pumps.

The serum itself is like a thin white cream rather than a serum, its overally scented and doesn't smell great.

It's sticky! Really sticky on the skin and I just don't like that personally. It doesn't dry down and stays tacky. It made me feel dry rather than hydrated.

It has a "fake" pearlescence in the formula to give the appearance of brightened healthy skin however it only sits on the surface and it feels more harmful to the skin than good.

Overall I really didn't like it, I feel like the price point of around $45 is to expensive for what it offers.

For reference I have smooth, on the dryer side skin which is showing the signs of aging with fine lines and not as firm as it once was. I still get hormonal spots.

I was very excited to trial this product and I was not disappointed at the first sight of the bold, modern and bright packaging.

Upon opening the product, it has an auto-dropper which means it automatically draws out a measured amount of the serum into the dropper as you twist the lid open so I found that to be a great feature. The directions say to use 2 pumps of the serum but I found this to be a little too much for my skin to absorb so I used 1 pump and then added a little extra dab after that.

I found the serum to be a white/pale green colour, lightweight and of a quite runny liquid consistency. It glides onto the skin well and has minimal scent. I found it left my skin feeling silky and smooth however it left more of a matte effect on my skin rather than a 'dewy glow' as described on the box.

Although the product is a 30ml size I believe it would last around 3 months with a daily application. I trialed the product for 4 weeks and I applied it once a day under an Olay brand night cream. I have normal to combination skin so I find applying serums under day creams often make my skin too product-heavy to be able to apply my make up and have it set properly in the day, so hence the reason I only applied this product under the night cream before I went to bed each night.

After using the product for 4 weeks I sadly don't really feel that I have seen or experienced any changes to my skin. Possibly it is a little more plumped but not to a significantly noticable degree. It's a real shame as I love the packaging, the auto-dropper and the lightweight liquid consistency of the product however it is just lacking in delivering results that would make me want to purchase it again.

I found this serum to be ok, I wouldn't rave highly about it but it's ok. It did make my skin feel soft and nice but I certainly didn't get brighter skin as it said it would. Didn't see much improvement on the dark spots on my skin either. As much as it felt nice I really was looking for more improvement on how my skin looked. The bottle looks really inviting and the application is super easy. The scent of the product is also nice.

This was a pleasant serum but underwhelmed in its results. It was smooth and light with no intense fragrance. Using it morning and night for 4 weeks I was hoping for a plumping of the skin as indicated on the box but that didn't eventuate. I don't know that I would purchase again as the results weren't obvious.

Thanks for the opportunity to trial this serum . It has a very liquidy consistency and is easily absorbed into the skin. It does come in a glass container which while it looks nice isn’t great for traveling. Once I opened it I couldn’t get the lid to close completely so I’m hoping mine was just faulty. Each time you close it , it automatically refills the dropper. It dispenses enough to cover the face and neck which is great. It does have a light fragrance but nothing overwhelming and it dissipates as soon as it’s on the skin. I do think it is a little pricey for a brand that’s available at the supermarket as it’s retailed at $60 but if it was on special I would consider buying it again. My skin does look very glowy and I’ve noticed a reduction of dark spots on my chest (I’ve been applying it there too). I have noticed that I’ve been breaking out more than usual on my chin and it’s always at the end of the day after wearing the serum. I can be acne prone though so can’t really say for sure if it’s the serum. I would recommend this to someone looking for a one and done serum and possibly someone with drier skin.

I don’t really use Olay products often, so I was pretty keen to try this product out, especially with the bold claims made about getting rid of those pesky dark circles. I have two on my chin, either side of my mouth. Sooooo consistency: it’s light and smooth, and you only need about two pumps for even coverage. Absorbs really quickly and doesn’t leave any sort of stickiness behind. Fragrance: nothing extraordinary, which is good! It’s pleasant and light. Not over-powering. Usage/longevity: hard to say? The bottle is not see-through so it’s a bit difficult to tell how much I’ve used in about a month. Makes it difficult for me to decide whether it’s worth the price or not. Packaging: I hate to admit this but it took me longer than I’d have liked to figure out how to get the product out. I got confused with the twist cap. You twist it twice or so and then unscrew it like a normal kid to reveal a dropper. I thought it was more complicated than that. It’s good, though, the package says use two pumps and that’s what you get out, and it’s all you need. Results: well… after 4 weeks, they’ve claimed that the dark spots will be visibly lighter, but I haven’t found that to be true. At least, I haven’t really noticed a drastic difference. I guess I’ll keep using for the full 8 weeks before deciding if I think this is a bogus claim or not. I will say that the rest of my skin loves this serum! Plump, glowing, bright, and even! I couldn’t recommend this for dark spots just yet, but I would definitely say it’s going to make your skin glow and feel so soft - however, there are other, cheaper serums for that. So it’s up to you.

I used this product for about a month as part of a trial team. The outer box is Olays silver & aqua cardboard. The serum itself is white & has a very slight pleasant initial perfume, and is dispensed from glass bottle with a dropper/pump incorporated into the lid which measures the 'dosage'. A nice touch so you dont have to dip your fingers in. The instructions say use 2 pumps, twice a day. I used between 1-2 depending on my skin's need on the day. I did not geberally put it on at night as I was also using a night cream. My current usage after approx 1 month is about 1/2 bottle. If I did this morning & night using 4 pumps, I imagine it would last less than a month, which at $44-60 makes it fairly pricy. I did like the serum as it makes the skin feel hydrated & does give a dewy glow. It is fast absorbing and non greasy. No adverse reactions for my sensitive skin. However, I'm undecided whether this product used in the way instructed, would be that much better than a more cost effective product. I will continue to use until the end and then decide on repurchasing & because of the above reason, I would probably buy on special rather than pay full price.

Love the consistency of this, even more love that the bottle is a self filling one for the applicator, which makes it so easy to apply to your skin with little effort needed. Just a couple drops is enough to cover over your whole face. Has no strong scent to it but leaves the skin looking so dewy and hydrated. Jar is a decent size and looks so pretty, and with the amount you need it should last a great length of time so has great value for money. I have noticed over the last couple weeks I have been using this that my face does seem to look at alot my healthy and hydrated. Dark spots do look like they may of faded a little as well so will continue to use this product to see how much more it can improve my skin. Also have found is great under make up for that extra glowy skin and makes application of make up go on so nicely. Great to pair with the Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Night Cream as well!

I really liked that this product combined both Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide - two products I currently use seperately - therefore having the potential to replace two steps in my current skincare routine. I stopped using these products when I received this so I could really give it a true and fair review.

The packaging of this product is super nice, a pearl glass bottle with a dropper style lid which I like as its easy to get the correct amount of product. I usually went for two pumps per night which covered my face with some left to rub down my neck/chest. Only negative is you cant see how much is left, so you'll likely run out when you don't expect it.

After almost a month my skin looks plump, hydrated and glowy. I would be interested in knowing how much Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide is contained in this product, it doesn't seem to say, but this would be crucial in deciding if I replace my other products with this one.

It does have a slight fragrance - I don't really know how to describe it apart from fresh?! but I didn't mind it, nor did it cause me any irritation.

It is on the more expensive side for Olay, which I guess is reflected in the more luxe packaging. Depending on what products you currently use, it may be more affordable to use this over separate hyaluronic acid and niacinamide serums.

This serum is ideal if you want to look radiant and glowy! I have been using it every morning and night for about a month, and my skin is definitely looking more even and bright. I will say it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to dispense the product (the instructions weren't very clear and I didn't realise it was a dropper!) but once I figured it out I was all set. It has an absolutely beautiful texture on the skin - not too thick, not too slimy, just the right amount of slip and spreadability. My 63 year old mum tried it out as well and loved how it felt on her skin so it has the parental seal of approval!

Unfortunately I couldn't give it 5 stars because my bottle is almost empty already, so I don't think you quite get your money's worth :(
