The jury is out

I'll just start by saying I don't think two weeks is long enough to really assess the effectiveness of the Manicare Firming Body Sculptor. Even all the promo material on the box and online talks about results over 8 weeks. So my aim is to keep using it and maybe come back and write another review.

I also decided to only focus on one leg rather than both so I had something to provide a comparison.

Now to the actual review.

When the box turned up I assembled this space age looking thing wondering what the hell I'd let myself in for! I put it on charge overnight although only 3 hours is needed apparently. (and I haven't had to recharge it since).

I was expecting more in the way of instructions. There wasn't even a booklet or any diagrams. Just some very simple instructions on the box. So I figured it can't be that hard, just do what it says. But there's no real explanation of what either EMS or Lipo functions are there for and what to use each setting for. The descriptions on the box are very vague so I really just guessed at it. I wasn't even sure I was holding it the right way up. Or whether that even mattered.

After a few attempts just using the box instructions I decided to go and investigate the Manicare NZ website. Here I basically found the same info as was on the box but at least there was a video. And YAY! I was holding it the right way up.

I'm still not sure if I'm using it correctly though and there's some info that I'd like more of that I could probably find if I hunted on the internet long enough but it shouldn't be that hard.

What do you use the EMS and Lipo settings for and is one more important than the other? How do you combine them?

How big is "a target area" that you need to work on for 3-5 minutes? Is it literally following the same path for 3-5 minutes or can you cover a larger area like one whole thigh for that time?

Is there a better time of day to use it? Like after a shower, early morning or after exercise?

After two weeks there looks like there could be some improvement in skin tone, but like I said, I don't think it's long enough to really play proper judge and jury.

Tips: Watch the video on the website first.

Results!!

The body sculptor comes in a box with a charging cable and maintenance / cleaning supplies. The instructions and precautions are all included on the box, with a QR code for more information.

It is easy to use and charges fairly quickly. All you need to do it apply moisturizer to the area, then turn it on, making sure all the settings are set to low. You glide it over the area using upwards motions and the suction and massaging rollers do all the work.

It was a bit awkward to use the first time, but once I got used to it, it was very easy to use. It sits nicely in the hand and the controls are very responsive. The release button is big and easy to locate quickly if you need to break the suction.

I thought it may become a chore to use, but it was quiet meditative to relaxing to use (especially with the massaging rollers) so I found myself looking forward to using it.

The device charged quickly. The noise level while using was moderate. It didn't take long to notice results. My skin was much smoother to touch and more even in appearance. It definitely had a toning effect on those top layers of fat.

The device promises increased skin firmness and smoothness in 5 minutes a day. It definitely delivered that, I'm really happy with the results.

Tips: Use before getting a fake tan for optimal tanning results

A Painful Device

I was really excited to be selected to receive this product since i've battled cellulite for years and waited in anticipation for it to arrive!! Unfortunately when it did I hate to say I was very disappointed. I find it hurts!! I tried this on my legs and even on the lowest setting and using lots of moisturizer, I find when it really suctions on to your skin it literally causes pain. I was furiously hitting the release button to make it stop!! I tried two different moisturizers but that didn't make a difference. I also watched the video online to ensure I was using it correctly. My daughter also tried it but agreed with me that it is uncomfortable and painful. I cannot say if it would do as it says as it takes 8 weeks of using for the results to be seen apparently. Maybe for some people it will be the right tool, but unfortunately not for me :( Thank you for the opportunity to trial this though.

Tips: Use lots of moisturizer!!

Manicare Firming Body Sculptor

I have found using the Lipo Vacuum and Muscle stimulation on the top part of my arms and the top part of my legs ,it left my skin with a glow and the feeling of being massaged and improved . I have taken some before and after photos that l will post . It's certainly easy to use and charges easy , l found my skin texture was improved, and felt invigorated. I am definitely going to keep using it , Thanks Beauty Review

Tips: Use lots of skin cream it helps the machine glide easy .

Smoother Skin But Not Much Else

The first time I used the body firming sculptor, I obviously hadn’t taken in all the instructions. Consequently when I found the suction way too powerful on my leg, I couldn’t figured out how to release the suction and it was quite painful. Make sure you have a good look at the button you need to press if you make this same mistake. I also found it didn’t glide very easily with body moisturiser. I switched to body oil and that was much better. I used Surmanti Lime and Coconut oil and that was perfect and it smells delicious. You need to use the massager on each part of your body you want to target for 3-5 minutes per day, 5 days a week. That’s quite a time commitment if, like me, you have a few areas that need improving. I decided for the sake of this review, I would concentrate on the front and back of my legs and my bottom. I realised that I would probably go through a whole bottle of my expensive body oil, so I purchased a large bottle of very inexpensive baby oil and that works really well. It’s a little difficult to do this on some areas of your own body. It would actually work much better if you were able to lie down and have someone else use the massager on the back of your body. The product says you should see a difference after 8 weeks, so it’s perhaps a bit unfair to have to do a review so quickly on this kind of product. In the short period I’ve used the massager, I saw no noticeable difference in my cellulite, nor did my skin appear any firmer. Maybe someone under 50 might see better results. I did feel that my skin felt softer, but that could also be a result of massaging body oil into my skin every day. If you’re willing to take the time to use this product, I could see how it might work. Would I purchase it myself based on my very short trial? Probably not, but don’t let that discourage you from giving it a go if you feel you can devote the time to using it 5 days a week. I will actually carry on trialling it and if I see any improvement after a few weeks, I will definitely post an updated review.

Tips: Use body oil rather than body lotion. The massager glides over your skin much better with the oil.

Manicare Firming Body Sculptor

I was lucky enough to be selected as one of the trial team members for this product. I don't think I would have ever bought one without the trial but I urge anyone reading to seriously consider it. The device is charged with an included USB cord and is cordless. The instructions make it clear that you need to apply a decent amount of moisturiser and I suggest you follow that advice as getting a good "glide" going is the difference between this working well and not. I must admit to being surprised by the lack of vibration when I first used it. There is none at all, instead tiny electric pulses are sent out of the two prong-like things inside the casing of the device. You start using the lower end of the two settings - Electronic Stimulation Muscle Technology (EMS) and LIPO Vacuum massage technique. I wouldn't say it hurt but the first couple of times I used it there was slight discomfort for the first minute or two. I never went above EMS 3 but did experiment with all 3 levels of LIPO suction. I used it for approx 10 mins a time every 2nd day on my buttocks, thighs and tummy. Results were almost instantaneous but they didn't really last all that long at first. I think with more usage they may continue to improve. My thighs and buttocks saw the most improvement in tone and reduction in the appearance of my cellulite. I also felt as though my muscles were a little more supple when working out too. After use I always used the included cleaning tools to clean the rollers as they tend to get a bit gunky with lotion.

Tips: Lotion, lotion and more lotion! Also start off slow on the intensity levels

Suck it up Baby

I was very excited to try this machine. It arrived and looked very spaceage. Not a fan of the packaging and must admit it wouldn't have attracted me for the price it retails at. The box colour and graphics let it down. There was no instrcutions inside only on the back of the box. Once again thought this as odd for the price you are paying. Had to hang onto the box to keep checking instructions. These seemed a bit vague but once I figured it out all was good.Actually the machine is easy to use once you master it. Lets start with the application. You apply body lotion all over and then run the sculptor over it. You push upwards while rollers move across and suck up the skin towards the roller. My leg was very sore and it did hurt to use. Not an awful pain but tender. It just showed me where the worst of my cellulite is. So I massaged through this pain and it did seem to get easier with each roll. After a good five minutes of massaging my thigh I was left with a red leg. This fades quickly. So what were the results? As I had only just over a week to trial I didn't feel this was enough time to get visible result so I only used it on one leg. I used every day and really can't see any difference in my cellulite. I believe this will come and I am definitely going to keep going. My leg does feel smoother and softer. The biggest change is the pain. After the second use the pain of application on my leg disappeared. Previously my thighs do hurt in certain areas if knocked or rubbed on. I believe that this has started to break down the cellulite as this is not so apparent now. Will keep using as it is easy and I hope to see great results after a month of using.

Tips: Don't rub lotion on with hand you are going to hold machine with as it gets too slippery

Electric

Was really excited to trial this as like many people, I have lumpy, bumpy skin, orange peel if you will. It is packaged nicely in a box. Has a brief description of what it does on the back along with a quick start guide and expert tips. There is also a QR code to scan to get more information. Warnings on the bottom of the box for who and when not to use etc. I found the instructions didn't give quite enough detail. The quick start guide is ok and gets you started, but was a bit of trial and error on my part. I did scan the code, but there were no detailed instructions. Once started, I found this fairly easy to use. It feels kind of like little pin pricks as you are using it while it suctions on to the skin/fat and massages at the same time. The instructions say 5 days on 2 off, so given that it has only been roughly 10 days, I haven't really noticed much difference. As an added bonus, the fact that you liberally apply moisturizer before use means my skin is hydrated and softer as a result. I am going to continue to use this, as I am hoping to start to see results soon.

Tips: Lots of moisturizer and make sure you start on lowest settings to lessen the chance of burst blood vessels.

Sculpt me up, baby!

I was extremely excited to be a part of this fantastic trial!

The packaging is very standard. Cardboard box with a plastic casing inside but everything was packed neatly. I like how there is a QR code on the box that you can scan and it takes you straight to Manicare’s website where there is a video tutorial, if you like a little extra instruction.

The device itself is really light and the suction cup part is a decent size, not too big and not too small. So easy to use!

I like how you can customise the different levels/strengths on the EMS and lipo settings. The EMS feels like faint electric shocks and you can definitely feel it penetrating your skin! It is also silent when you use this mode.

The lipo function is great! It draws your skin into the cup and the rollers inside slide along your skin to help plump and smooth it. It’s quite loud, though, and sounds like a messaging device…

I absolutely love this device! I highly recommend getting one. It made a noticeable difference with the cellulite on my legs after two uses! Even my family commented how my legs look smoother.

I can’t wait to see what the results are after another few weeks of use!

Tips: Use a great silky moisturiser to help the suction glide along your skin easier. Reapply moisturiser if needed as it really does help!

Awesome At Home Tool

What an awesome little tool which is something different to the arsenal of tools I already own. Having recently tried cool sculpting I’ve have recently become interested in body tools not just face ones. Firstly this product is pretty reasonable, and with a reputable brand. The device itself appears and feels sturdy. I had to charge before first use, instructions were a little hard for me to understand and a few attempts with my skin sucked ensured! Once I had the hang of the device it felt pretty cool, more like a massage with suction - I haven’t let it sit on my skin for prolonged periods to see the damage this can cause. Def read the instructions where it notes to moisturise first! This makes things so much easier and helps cut the time and effort down hugely. I’m really trying to get in the habit of moisturising nightly and needing to use this device daily really helped. I have had this product just over 2 weeks so really not enough time to see if cellulite and firmness has changed. However I can already tell this product makes you feel like you are treating and taking time out for yourself. It’s a great massage and is definitely invigorating the skin. I will update if I notice cellulite reduction, however I feel this helps moisturiser sink in and absorb so is helping with moisture loss which will then help with a few of my other skin concerns being dryness, flaking and stretch marks and itching from the dryness. Id recommend this to just give it a go, there are so many facial products and not many for the body.
