Lush Sakura Bath Bomb Review

A refreshing floral dip into springtime

When the blossoms burst forth in spring, it’s a tradition to take a picnic and bottle of sake and enjoy the beauty. Noriko, one of our product inventors, hails from Japan and this beautiful Bath Bomb represents what it’s like to be in a park while the breeze blows through the blossoms in the trees. Instead of heading to the park, lay back in serene waters while the gorgeous scents of mimosa and jasmine envelop you to give you the joyful feeling of springtime. Sakura simple, elegant, and enduringly beautiful bathing.

My Favourite Bath Bomb

I adore this bath bomb, it is a beautiful colour and smells devine. I have excema and when it flares up I will get one of these bombs because it helps moisturize so well. I get no itching, flaking or redness from it and I see a massive difference in my skin. When your excema is bad you loose a lot of confidence because you know others can see your skin, Sakura gives my skin back it's moisture and helps me soak the bad vibes away.

Take a trip with Lush!

This is a beautiful bath bomb as it makes you feel you are in a different place. The colour and scent are gorgeous and ever so relaxing. If you are interested in taking a wee break from reality. Turn on the taps, run yourself a bath and drop in Sakura! You will not regret it :)

Sakura Sinker

While this bomb doesn't have any exciting qualities to it, it doesn't mean that it's a dud. Well. This one was cos it sunk, but. You know.

I acquired this bomb as LUSH are sweeties and sent me this to replace a Christmas bomb that was damaged. I was excited, as I hadn't tried it. The bomb was a soft but bright pink and adorned with bright blue "salts" but it could've been popping candy.

The smell was so amazing. It was almost like TBS Cherry Blossom but it wasn't - this smelled more real, more floral and more delicate. I really like the smell. Fun fact: it is the same scent as the ever popular Rub Rub Rub!

The bomb itself was terrible - it sunk and didn't do anything, but the sound of the popping candies exploding in the bottom of the bath was highly entertaining. As always with LUSH bombs, this made the water gorgeously soft, and left my skin hydrated and silky smooth. While it's not something I would purchase myself, I would use it again!

ah, Sakura <3

Sakura are ridiculously special to me. Sakura (桜) is the Japanese word for cherry blossom flowers, and nearly 20 years ago, aged 17, I found myself at a temple in Kyoto less than 24 hours into my student exchange. It was night time, the cherry blossoms were in bloom, the trees were strung with fairy lights, and the warm night air carried the scent incredibly. Since then, I've been in love with all things cherry blossom, and seeing Lush come up with a variant on this made me happy.

It's a pretty good approximation of a cherry blossom scent. It's not PERFECT, but it's very close. To be perfect, for me, it needs a light, sweet hint of cinnamon in there. But I'm a perfectionist on Japanese scents.

I don't have a bath, so when I travel, I like to take a Lush bomb with me (or pick one up while away) to make the most of hotel bathrooms. I don't like using the heavily coloured ones as I can't be bothered cleaning the bath afterwards.

Sakura is a pretty good bet for a relaxing bath without too much onerous cleanup. It's subtly coloured and - while it doesn't give the cool Lush 'bath art' experience, it's enough to have scented, silky water to bathe in.

The fizzing bath bombs Lush make are always fun to throw in the bath and watch, and this is no exception.

Bathing in a sakura bath leaves you with soft skin, with a subtle floral scent. It's one of their best, in my opinion, but as I said, I'm hugely biased towards cherry blossoms :)

Tips: You can break these up and use a bit at a time, you don't NEED the whole bomb.

Relaxing

Is Sakura the most fun Lush bath bomb? Not by any means, no fun colors, no glitter. etc. The fragrance is very nice, when dry it's quite floral, when activated there is a definite citrus note from the lemon oil. Out of bath the floral notes return on the skin, and jasmine is ever so faintly detectable. I found this to be nice and relaxing on my neck and shoulder muscles.

A big nope from me

There are not many Lush products that make me struggle to like, or at least find the 'silver lining' however this bath bomb REALLY doesn't do it for me and I struggle to find that silver lining ok it looks pretty but that's about it.

It looks pretty, a big white ball with specks of blue and pink that just fits in the palm of your hand. It also has a few of the blue popping candy on top for good measure. As soon as I take it out of the bag I smell it and find it smells a lot like the green Palmolive dishwashing liquid. Not usually a scent I would bathe in but ok maybe it just smells like this before It greets the water I thought. So pop it in and watch white, blue and pink foam coming from the bath bomb it was ok nothing spectacular.

Once the bath bomb had fully dissolved it left the water looking clear no colour change, it felt kinda naked I'm used to bathing in pretty colours or mountains of bubbles not plain water, crazy I know but it just didn't feel right. I could smell a slight floral scent but the overpowering scent of the green dishwashing liquid remained, I realllllly disliked it. It would have been my quickest bath ever.

After I got out I couldn't wait to hide the scent with loads of moisturiser. Overall it was pretty disappointing, maybe I had a dud? I've never had a bath bomb where I completely screwed my nose up at it. But it just wasn't my thing. No I won't repurchase this- sorry Lush!

Warm Soft Cherry Blossom

I bought a couple of these beautifully fragrant bombs online. First impressions are the scent... Light warm and relaxing, very cherry blossom, like a warm spring day under a row of cherry blossom trees with the sun on your back.

The pale white exterior mottled with turquoise blue sea salt, and flecks of pink hide nothing secret inside, but it's soft scent lingers long after on your skin and hair.

It is a larger bath bomb at 200g so if you are wanting to savor it you can break it i half and still enjoy the full effect.

Such a sweet floral fragrance that is subtle yet enticing, as it fizzed away in my tub the chunks of sea salt plummeted downwards to dissolve fully along the bottom of the bath. The water felt soft and so did my skin, silky and smooth... blissful

My favourite bomb.

This is my all time favourite bath bomb. Pale pink in colour with a blue centre, the smell of this bomb IS the bomb. Sakura is Japanese for cherry blossom. Light, floral but not sickly sweet, if they could bottle this scent as a perfume, I would wear nothing else. According to the ingredient list, one of the smelks is mimosa and I think that's the key note. I have some Lime Blossom scented French soap that smells exactly the same. This bomb creates a nice and relaxing bath with really soft water and you leave the bath with soft, smooth and scented skin. The smell lingers in the bathroom for a couple of days. If you like the smell as much as me, Seanik Shampoo Bat and Rub, Rub, Tub scrub has the same scent.

Tips: If you do any hand washing, use the leftover bath water for the final rinse. Obviously not if you wash with soap, but if you only soak.

Tranquil night with Sakura

My very first bath bomb experience was this bath bomb Sakura. It came in a Lush mothers day box . I gave myself my first bath in over 7 years. It was a real treat me. Sakura wasn't a bath bomb I was familiar with and my anticipation to try this was there.

This bath bomb was fairly large sized. Its texture is solid with a grainy white, blue and pink colouring. This scent reminds me of subtle notes of jasmine a slight glimmers of cherry blossoms . I filled my bath up. I popped my bomb in to watch it fizz. From this fizz I could see bursts of faint blue and red dyes slowly fading out into my water . These dyes did not colour my water . My water became a murky white colour. When I hopped in I could instantly feel my body unwinding. It was so relaxing.

After trying this bath bomb I must collect more. It was so nice to unwind to this bath. I could feel how smooth my body had become after this. I believe this is affordably priced. Definately will be repurchasing more Lush in the future.

Not too fancy but smells heavenly

This smells amazing before you even pop it into your bath, it has this wonderful fresh but comforting aroma which it from the must of jasmine, which is one of the best smells in the world in my opinion takes me right back to long summer evenings at my mum's house in the UK where she had this massive, old jasmine vine and it's blooms were the perfect blend of fresh floral and warm musk.

Once added to the water this softly coloured bomb with it's vivid blue ends which look like bright topaz shining through, whizzes around turning the water a soft milky colour which with the addition of the melted blues and pinks dotted through it takes on an almost pale apple (golden delicous) colour. There is no bang with this bomb, no swirls of colours or floating debris just a soft, calm, relaxing bath. The water turns to a creamy softness that lingers on your skin after you can pry yourself out of the bath.

Definitely one for when you need to unwind.
